Anti-Semitism was behind the highly publicized arrests last week of rabbis, including three from the Aleppo-Syrian Jewish community in New York and New Jersey, according to Yitzhak Kakun, editor-in-chief of the Shas weekly Yom Le'Yom.
"There is a feeling here that the FBI purposely attempted to arrest as many rabbis as possible at once in an attempt to humiliate them," Kakun said in a telephone interview Sunday.
"Regardless of the details of the case - I am not familiar with the precise charges and the evidence - you would never see the FBI and police behaving that way with Muslim sheikhs or Christian priests. It is so obvious that the whole thing is motivated by anti-Semitism," he said.

I’m really getting sick of this.
If you think this country is so damn racist, get the f*** out of here.
The Jesse Jackson types should move to Liberia and these rabbis should GTFO of my country and go to Israel.
muslims have been given a license to steal and kill in America. Jews have not. This is classic obamanation at its worst!!! The friends of obamanation are muslims, not Jews or Christians. When can we get this through our collective heads??
I love that line “...regardless of the evidence...”! The fact that they are rabbis should prevent the FBI from arresting them, regardless of whether they are guilty of not! The absolute chutzpah!

In this case they appear to be criminals reguardless of race or religion.
“Regardless of the details of the case - I am not familiar with the precise charges and the evidence “
...but I will comment anyway.” Hmm, what other racist do we know who recently said this?
No, it’s just a matter of law enforcement. If rabbis wouldn’t commit crimes, they wouldn’t get arrested.
I know it. but it just makes me angry that justice is not more just.... these honor killings that go on here in the US by muslims are ignored.... these are real women who die and no one cares. I do.
“...I am not familiar with the precise charges and the evidence...”
Come on! This sounds just like Obama’s statement about the Gates and Crowley incident. The guy sounds like a prejudiced fool.
When Torahs are outlawed, only Rabbis will have them?
hey, it’s the Jerusalem Post, he doesn’t live in this country. Cool your jets.

Indeed. Being involved in the trafficking of human organs (which is, apparently, what the mass arrestings in NJ were over) is OBVIOUSLY based on racist charges... and the God of Jacob, Abraham, & Isac endorsed, encourages, and desires human sacrifices. [/sarc]
Of cours, that will be lost on some, sadly. [/cynic]
Maybe these people should be hung instead... I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m rather attached to my organs and would fight (violently) to keep them where they are (and functioning).
Hey they came from Israel to our shores . These shimkas deserve to be deported and/or rendideted!
With the collapse of the FBI's AIPAC entrapment, this does look like a stronger case.
Indeed. However, the timing is interesting here. The administration is making moves diplomaticly to shut down the settlements and to internationalize Jerusalem. They know well that Orthodox Jews are standing in their way. This is a good way to shut up opposition.
Also, the arrests were made on the beginning of the nine days of morning associated with the destruction of the ancient temple in Jerusalem. Rahm Emanuel has had his hand in symbolic gestures before in the Clinton administration. Why not now?
They came from Syria. Their money went to support Orthodox Jews in Israel.
Incidentally, what day is Tish b'av anyway? No one told me and even I should take some steps for observance.
Boy, I don’t know what rendideted is, but it sounds really bad.
So, you want to cancel your appointment with the moyle?
Tish B'Av is the 9th day of the month of Av (Jewish Calender). The date is an infamous date in Jewish history. On this date both the first and second temples were destroyed. It was declared a national day of mourning for all Jews. The fast is a total fast of denial of both liquid and food like Yom Kippur. Lamentations are read. From sundown until mid day of the next day, Jews are mourning as if they were "sitting shiva" in a low place.
The destruction of the temples were preceded by a seige on Jerusalem, starvation, war and death on the scale of the holocost from WWII. Jews were slaughtered in the millions, women and children were led away in chains as slaves. The Romans so wished the destruction of Jews they renamed towns so that the world might forget who lived there.
It is a major observance in the Jewish calender. Other tragedies also occurred on the date as well. A very sad and solemn time. You can find much written about it on the web.
tishabub is July 30 this year
Well... I DO happen to have a lot of ammo that needs using.... ;)
This sting started back in the Bush administration.
Who TF are you, boy?
Why do you think Orthodox Jews would not vote for Obama? Kiryas Joel delivered en masse for Hillary Clinton in the senate race.
Since when has that ever stopped them from kvetching
about what we should do in our own country?
Thanks.
Yeah. But the reason for that was because Bill Clinton pardoned a guy named Elbum who ripped off some Pell grants. Hillary had a meeting with one of the leaders there and the vote was probably a quid pro quo. Those voters for Hillary usually vote Republican.
So if you’re a crook in the U.S., you can be arrested EXCEPT if you’re a Jew crook and then it’s anti-Semitism? What a gig.
I agree about the muslim part but what most Jews seem to not understand it that the only thing keeping the jackboots away from them are the Christians or, more accurately Evangelical Christians. The jackboots know it so, there is nothing the jackboots would like better than to eliminate the Christian "big brother" blocking their path to the Jews.
Unfortunately, Jews will allie themselves with the jackboots to get rid of the Evangelicals.
Not all Jews.
True but unfortunately, not most American Jews.
Really?
Guess that is why nearly 80% of Jews who voted voted for Obama and his Obamanation.
and btw....these ain't the first rabbis arrested in NY area.
it's happened before a few times...Orthodox too at that
it’s sickening, isn’t it. I know the US jews voted for him. They have been blinded.... it’s really sad, but very biblical
providential
it’s something I ponder frequently...the collective behavior of Jewish Americans
there is so much about them I admire (but I’m not a wannbe like some Christians here)
to be so intelligent and often family oriented they make such political miscalculations based on their own prejudice
if I do that I get called on it
i love the Jews on this thread...have chatted with several of them for going on a decade now but they (some) are simply reacting to this situation as fellow Jews not as objective observers
can’t say I don’t do that a bit myself about Southern stuff but it still is what it is
there is a visceral loathing of Christian Conservatism by most Jews and they vote accordingly, something that used to be less frequent, more hidden and quieter
now it is full scale culture war with them on the other side
but we have Mark Levin so I guess they are still outgunned
They can't. They are Hasidic and cannot recognize the existence of Israel prior to the coming of the messiah
A John Bircher, apparently.
I have more respect for Birchers.
I’ll argue for the kidney trafficing, but not too strongly: Everybody has two, and can live with one. What is the Law?
Since I almost lost one of mine some years ago, I have a personal interest in suggesting that people should keep both of their own.
I don't think you may sell your organs for profit in this country.
Evidently others can, viz Planned Parenthood and the Fetus Parts Shop, or many Organ Donor programs. But that wasn’t the question I asked which you answered.
I am not sure of what you are asking. :)
I’m asking how wide the stream that is too deep to walk through.
So you're against the war on terror?
I used to be a Bircher. They're nothing but the successors of the people who thought we fought on the wrong side in World War II.
That’s a curious way to read what I said.
I used to be a member. Have you ever been one?
The John Birch Society doesn't deserve your or anyone else's respect.
What I said I said. I have more respect for a run-of-the-mill Bricher than I do for the kind of person who would make the post to which I initially responded.
I’ve known only three Birchers personally. One was a WWII D-Day vet who walked from Normandy to Berlin carrying a BAR. He’s a good guy with a mix of racial prejudices, but open-minded enough to befriend me. One was my public HS social studies teacher — he went to prison for sex with young boys some ten years later. Another was a battery remanufacturer who was honest in business, and we had common ground about the UN.
I have the same feelings... thank you for sharing
