CONGRESS CREATED DUST BOWL (food price is going to increase)

Posted on 07/25/2009 8:58:39 PM PDT by 4rcane

http://thecomingdepression.blogspot.com/2009/07/there-is-hunger-coming-like-run-away.html

e driven the almost 400 mile stretch of Interstate 5 from L.A. to Sacramento dozens of times. Quite honestly, it's as boring as it gets. with only the usual gas stations, mini-marts, fast-food, home-cookin' restaurants, and strangely a newer batch of Starbuck's Coffee shops sprouting up everywhere. In between... farms, orchards, cattle, and dirt. On July 15th, as I began my trip to Utah, I came off the Grapevine decline and hit the flat 250 or so mile stretch of interstate which begins the farming belt in the valley. Almost immediately I noticed what I had only heard about on the radio and in the papers. Where once there were vast fields of green, now there where empty, barely recognizable rows of unplanted dirt and growing weeds. Only sporadically at first, but once I passed Bakersfield and for about a 200 mile stretch, I could not believe my eyes. Field after field laid fallow. And not really fallow, but unattended... as if it was not going to be planted in the near future either. Signs were staked in the ground on almost every patch of barren farmland. The most common one, which was yellow and obviously a group effort to wake up the sleeping travelers of their future plight, read: "CONGRESS CREATED DUST BOWL"

I’ve been asking all summer where all the bees are around here.

Soros and his pals are buying arable land like hotcakes. Now why would he do that....at the same time that the congress is talking banning/restricting organic food gardens & small food sellers?

It’s like the ban on pre-1985 children’s books for ‘safety’ reasons (done deal) or even the garage sale thing.

Be sure to track who is buying up the farmland. It’s Chinatown all over again.

The Chinese are alot smarter than American Politicans these days. The Chinese recently audited their grain reserve, to make sure they have enough grain in reserve for rainy days, in case of fraud and natural disaster

For those who live outside California, they turned off the irrigation water because they decided a little fish called the Delta smelt was more important than the farmers, thousands of jobs and feeding the nation. For what it’s worth you can’t eat’em they are tiny and the San Joaquin Valley is one of the few regions in California that is conservative.

Look, it ain’t about the fish. It’s about stealing your land.

All this is to “save” the “Delta” smelt, a non-native fish introduced in the 1940s. It’s dying from the raw sewage dumped into the Sacramento River. These two cities don’t want to build water treatment plants, so they let the pumps be shut off so our water dilutes their sewage. It’s criminal, literally.

California is going broke, and this is going be terrible for the economy out there. The farmers not only raise crops and create jobs, but they pay taxes. This will hurt that state’s revenue even more. So, I guess the pinheads in Sacremento will just raise taxes even more.

first....I dissagree...Rt 5 down the interior of California is a very nice drive....lots of farm country and cows and an easy highway....I liked driving there....California is such a beautiful state with all of its varied wonders, its a shame the rats have torn it apart....

secondly....I remember reading last fall here on FR that the price of ferilizer was so high...because of the price of all commodities.....that farmers were not ordering it or couldn't get it...thus, we shouldn't be surprised by the barren ground.....

stock up folks....canned goods and dry beans and peas.....rice....things that will keep well if stored properly...

I know it’s not about the fish but that’s their lousy excuse just like spotted owls in timber country, they always have a lousy excuse to cover themselves.

Did you go to the water rally? Devin Nunes is my congressman. It’s criminal that Jim Costa worked behind the scenes to undermine Devin’s work on this issue. What a devious creep. He needs a serious challenge in the next election.

Costa is one of those Dems who plays conservative or at least moderate while campaigning, and people keep buying it, in spite of all evidence to the contrary.

That’s a hard one though, I’m wondering if I wouldn’t sell out to the Chinese.

Farming is tough and it just gets tougher and these farms are an example of government gone wrong, so if I got an offer at the appraised value I don’t think I’d give it a second thought.

I’ve helped to feed the world for 35 yrs and I’m sick of it. I’m sick of the cost, the stress, the insults, the ingratitude, the whining buyers who deal with their own whining buyers who want perfection but aren’t willing to pay a decent price. I’m sick of dealing with the government and all their regulation, I’m sick of dealing with snotty little bankers who sit in an air conditioned and heated office, making 100K a year who just don’t understand why the cash flow didn’t work and just can’t understand that a marble sized hail for 5 minutes or a 70 mph wind sustained for 4 hours can wipe out your whole years work.

I’m sick of nature too. Farming is one of the worst things anyone could choose to do with their lives and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

I can only speak for my area but very few farmers are being replaced and there is a lot of fallow land laying out even without any endangered fish around here. If things continue as they seem to be continuing, in 15 yrs there will be 7 farmers left because they are the only ones under 50, this from the 400 or so farmers who were here when we started farming.

I know how to take care of myself and my family, I don’t need a farm to eat. I have land away from the farm that could sustain me.

OTH, the crops look great this year. LOL

Well, I sympathize with you. Who said you only get one career for your whole life?

If you are sick of it, the best thing to do is get out from under it, get it in the hands of someone who wants it, and get on and do something you WANT to do.

I hear you, I hope you find what you want to do and go for it.

The real time bomb is the average age of farmera in America - around 56. The average age of ranchers is around 62. Talk about an endangered species.

Before the delta smelt, it was the fairy shrimp that crippled the Central Valley. Also, all of our water which is runoff from Yosemite snowpack each year and whatever little rains we get, is SOLD off to Southern California. So when you get a head of lettuce at five bucks a head, thank an environmentalist. Our canals on the westside here in the central valley are almost empty and yes, the farmers aren’t farming. I hope an environmentalist, who is usually a vegan, has to starve because there is no vegetables or lettuce for them to eat.

There is a group I ran into in Haifa some time ago while on assignment for another project in Amman. This group in Israel apparently has created a technology to inbed thru ingestion or other measures a tracking mech coordinating with something similar to sat gps. It will track a human's dna, a plant's dna, anything that gives off a very specific signature that this new tech can observe and track. And, it can be tracked from anywhere on the planet with a partner tech, and it is very specific and exact to a unique profile. I was shocked when I first saw it in action. As I understand from someone explaining the tech to me, the core purpose is to id certain target individuals anywhere and all over the world. My second shock came when they showed me a db cs, trl q-*scl the real-time gps-type info have already been taggged.

The delivery device from what I saw in the labs and field is precise down to .........., they were talking inches or millimeters. They assured me that they will improve target delivery, and the backup system will take out a stander and not the bystander. I feel for those in this world who have already volunteered for testing this new tech on themselves. May your actions serve you well!

Hay! This is brought on by litiguous, militant EnvironMental litigators who judge-shop till they get stupid rulings supported by corrupt GovernMental bureaucrats who have permeated the government's non-elected positions!

Then if an elected Senator or Congressperson that you are blaming should ever drum up the courage to exercise proper oversight on the people's behalf on said bureaucrats, the MSM/DBM donkeys start braying like the jackasses they are until this whole thing gets court-ordered to make sure the fish, not the people, come first!!!

To make matters even worse... this same bunch have gotten the laws to slanted that litigators get their legal fees reimbursed, win... Lose... or draw (settle out of court) It's all pure insanity and nothing but affirmative action for fish and plants and welfare for wildlife at the expense of our economy and Ameica's taxpayers!!!

The California Central Valley Tea Party on July 4th had a bunch of angry farmers who were there for this very reason. One of the signs I remember: "Don't like imported energy? Try imported food!"

I think the Chinatown theory is very likely true. (Jimrob was there by the way. Gave me a chance to finally meet him)

Thank you for your service to our country.

If we could somehow go back to a citizen legislature that contained at least 1/4 farmers, this country wouldn’t be so screwed up.
