Rasmussen Daily Tracker: O -8, and O-49% approve, 51% disapprove
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 7/24/2009 | Rasmussen Reports

Posted on 07/24/2009 6:36:36 AM PDT by tatown

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 30% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-eight percent (38%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -8 (see trends).

Just 25% believe that the economic stimulus package has helped the economy.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter.

Overall, 49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Today marks the first time his overall approval rating has ever fallen below 50% among Likely Voters nationwide. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.

Eighty-three percent (83%) of Democrats continue to approve of the President’s performance while 80% of Republicans disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 37% offer a positive assessment. The President earns approval from 51% of women and 47% of men.

These updates are based upon nightly telephone interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. Most of the interviews for today’s update were completed before the President’s nationally televised press conference on Wednesday night. The first update based entirely upon interviews conducted after the press conference will be released on Sunday.

It is important to remember that the Rasmussen Reports job approval ratings are based upon a sample of likely voters. Some other firms base their approval ratings on samples of all adults. President Obama’s numbers are always several points higher in a poll of adults rather than likely voters. That’s because some of the President’s most enthusiastic supporters, such as young adults, are less likely to turn out to vote.

California Senator Barbara Boxer is clinging to a four-point lead in her bid for re-election.

Fifty-three percent (53%) now oppose the Congressional health care reform package. That’s up eight points over the past month. Just 20% now see health care as the most important of the President’s priorities. Nearly twice as many, 37%, say deficit reduction is most important.

Fifty-five percent (55%) of California voters oppose the budget agreement reached by the state’s political leaders. Sixty-four percent (64%) believe that illegal immigrants create a major strain on the state’s budget.

Nationwide, 72% don’t want the federal government determining what type of light bulbs they should purchase.

Forty-six percent (46%) say that network television news is more reliable than the internet. Thirty-five percent (35%) disagree.

Thirty-one percent (31%) now say the U.S. is heading in the right direction. That’s down nine points from the 2009 peak. Republicans continue to enjoy a slight edge on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

Obama at 45% yesterday on Rasmussen single day poll!!!

Rasmussen's poll is a 3 day running average. Obama has been steady at 51% for the past few days. In order to get a 49% in a 3 day rolling average, that means yesterday as a single day Obama polled at 45% approval.

Plane in full stall. Altitude dropping.

Dim-bulb-crat response: Pull the stick further back. It always makes us go up.

Or: Way in dept. Income dropping.

Dim-bulb-crat response: spend more.

And Obama is smart? What a bunch of bull-Obama.

There aren’t a heck of a lot of ways for Obama to prop his numbers up. The next month the health care problems will be beat to death. Unemployment continues up and benefits will be dropping off. We can only pray that we have a horrible end to this summer to put Obama in free fall for good.

I predict when the tapes come out they will back up Sgt Crowley and paint Prof Gates in a very bad light.

The much bigger point is that this incident may turn out to be a watershed moment in Obama’s Presidency. His polls have been going south and this incident will likely exarcerbate that greatly. The approval or Obama the ‘man’ has always been greater than approval for his policies. This incident will likely erode his personal popularity much more than the MSM realize.

The liberal elite and many minorities have an intrinsic distrust of law enforecement, and the ‘rush to judgement’ in branding Sgt Crowley a racist was a huge blunder by the MSM. Watching Chuck Todd on MSNBC this morning was very enlightening. He said Obama had been ‘prepped’ before the news conference that he ‘might’ asked about the Prof Gates incident. He was prepped, but without the ‘facts’. The question was obviously a plant from his compliant media whores, designed to be asked last in order that Obama end his press conference on a high note. For him to answer the question with a charge that the Cambridge Police ‘acted stupidly’ was one on the biggest in many of his blunders thus far as President.

Todd said that ‘privately the White House wished he had not used the word ‘stupid’. That is the biggest understatement of the year, because using a term like that indicted police officers everywhere. The average law abiding citizen, seeing the real facts of the case a few days later, is siding with Sgt Crowley by a huge margin.

As Abe Lincoln once said “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.”
Obama, a supposed student of history, obviously doesn’t believe that, because by opening his mouth about a topic on which he admitted he did not have the facts, made him a fool.

As these tapes are released and his friend (another of O’s friends, Ayers, Wright, and now Gates) is shown to be a self important race hustler, people will realize Obama is not the ‘post racial’ person he claims to be. He is a pretender to that, but his default position is to use race when he thinks he can use it to his advantage. In this case, speaking about race without knowing the facts has blown up in his face.

The disaffected masses who voted for him who live in flyover country are probably looking at him in another light today, and I do not believe his personal popularity will ever recover from this wound. This is Obama’s Waterloo, even though he still not realize the grievous wound he has suffered and continues to go out and defend the indefensible.

while his numbers go down he still goes with his national death care, increase in taxes, energy tax and cutting the military.

The GOP should be now at the forefront taking advantage but are they?
No

This also shows the arrogance of bozo and his ilk.
The majority do not want these policies and yet he ignores this because he thinks he knows better or Michelle obama and her freeloading mother in law want it.

Talking of her.
Yesterday i saw Laura Bush on TV for big brother and big sister , while she was in office she took on education and reading.

I know Hillary Clinton took women’s issues on.

What on earth is michelle obama doing, never see her taking on a certain issue, she freeloads around the world with her husband and just does day visits from the white house and even that she seems to look pissed off.

Where is the media asking her this instead pretending she has class and style.
She has a massive arse, no dress sense and is the laziest first woman I have ever known to go to the white house

"Jumping the shark" is a colloquialism used by TV critics and fans to denote
the point in a television program's or film series's history where the plot veers off
into absurd story lines or out-of-the-ordinary characterizations. This usually
corresponds to the point where a show with falling ratings apparently becomes more
desperate to draw in viewers. In the process of undergoing these changes, the TV
or movie series loses its original appeal.
Shows that have "jumped the shark" are
typically deemed to have passed their peak.

Obama did that Wednesday night with his latest Nationalized Health Care
pitch -- he just doesn't realize it yet. All he needs is the leather jacket ...

GOOD POINT

not one elected official runs for the office and has a 95% of a voting bloc .
95% of 13% is a lot of votes in some states

course they all backed him because of his agenda, no seriously they knew all about him and what he stands for.

honest they really are involved in politics and look to elect who they think will be best for this country
noting to do with color, honest..
The media told us we’re past this racial stuff, we’re all one.

ps
psstt
someone forgot to tell most of the black community .

for you lefty loons before you pass judgement then go and live in a ghetto like I have and see what it is really like instead of living in your white gated mcmansion area saying how you like diversity but you do not live it.

Two key numbers to look for. When unemployment hits 10 percent and stays above it, Dems will lose House in 2010. When the unemployment hits 12 percent or higher by 2012, Dems will lose Senate and Presidency.

Most of the polling was done before his press conference. What will be the effect of his comment about the Cambridge police? Was Obama’s response his “Katrina moment”? Think of the irony. What was meant as a softball question from one of Obama’s biggest admirers in the media, Lynn Sweet, may have actually initiated the total crippling of his Presidency.

The best part is the media is in full kneepad mode defending him, and he has dropped this low. At some point, he will drop so low that they will have to stop defending him to preserve their own credibility, and at that point it will be “Welcome back Carter” time.
