I like facebook polls because you can’t vote “annonymously” and you have to option to defend your vote with a comment again.. NOT annonymously...

Clearly the majority of Americans can see the disaster set forth for them and are starting to wake up.

Your link sent me to an invasive questionaire to join Facebook. It was creepy.

After attempting to register with false info, I finally gave up and put in my true info — as little as possible. Up popped all kinds of people whom I know: friends, relatives, not so friendlies — why did my name provoke these connections?

I really don’t want most of these folks tracing my on-line movements, and I don’t want to follow theirs either. I went through about 14 pages of registration and never did find the poll. Finally, I quit.

Please explain to me how this Facebook works — you can send it by FReep Mail, if you like. I’m already getting emails back, and I’m just not quite sure I want to go there.

Can everybody on Facebook see my email address? Is there a way to un-register?

I just signed up a few days ago, after my sister begged me to do so for about 6 months.

You can provide bogus DOB, but you need a valid email address.

Once your account is setup, be sure to go through the security options and preferences with a fine-toothed comb.

Default setting allow the general public to search for you and your profile picture. It also allows friend of your friends to see your relationship to the comman party. Default settings also tell all your friends your every “move.” eg: bob sent nancy a friend request. Mark sent a message to Jan. Jan looked at Sam’s page, etc...

Apparently this tracking feature is what gives the site its gossipy-highschool drama quality. People just love seeing who accepted who as a friend, who talks to who the most, etc...

You can turn the tracking off, however. Be sure you do so.

My settings allow only friends to see any of my info, and no one can track my actions or view my list of friends. Essentially, people will need to be referred to me by my existing friends to be added to my friends list.

Thanks for the info. FB won’t accept just any bogus BD, however. I tried putting one in with the year 1900 and it rejected me. LOL. When I get home tonight, I’ll go back and turn off all the tracking features. What I can’t figure out is how they connected me to all the people who popped up when the membership went through? Some are relatives. Some are friends. Some are NEITHER (I know them, but don’t count them as friends and certainly don’t want them tracking me.)

Two sisters-in-law and my husband’s cousin popped up. How did they make that connection? We have never even discussed FB. This whole thing gives me the creeps!

anyone who has your e-mail address likely added their ENTIRE address book to their “profile” so it was basicly just waiting for you to register your e-mail and made the “connection”

hope this helps
