I worked at small company until I got layed off yesterday. I worked in a IT data center in an overnight shift. We got a new burglar alarm system in January. A few days later after setting the alarm at 11 PM and locking the doors, the alarm went off. The state police arrived and rang the front bell. I can be seen from the front door through main entrance in the computer room. There are glass windows in the room providing anybody arriving to see me at my work station. I answered the officer with my company badge and drivers license in hand for identity. He parked his cruiser blocking my car for any exit. I let him in and he checked my credentials. He said he already knew my name from plate check. He proceeded to call my license number to headquarters on his belt talkie. I am clean and have nothing to hide. I invited him in and showed him the codes from the alarm. It showed that there may be a breech in a window in the rear building.I led him to the rear building showing him that I knew the alarm code. We inspected the area and did not find anybody. Went back to my area at the front of the main building. He told me to come out side with him and took my license again and called headquarters. They called the VP's son who did odd jobs in the building and grounds. It was 1 AM on a Sunday morning. Jeff showed up and vouched for me and the cop was satisfied. He let me go back to my job and left. At no time I gave the cop any attitude. He had his job to do and I gave him respect and he thanked me for my cooperation. He said he had to follow procedures.

I remember when I was 13 in 1971, we were trespassing on the water company watershed. I was skimming rocks on the pond. A cruiser pulled up and we ran. The cop told us to stop. We stopped. The cop gave us a lecture to never run from the police, you could get shot.
