Guns are now legal for students on public university campuses in South Carolina.

The signs say "guns prohibited" on the College of Charleston's campus, but according to bill 593 that's about to change. Lawmakers approved the bill last month.

It says cars on public college campuses are now acceptable places for concealed weapons permit holders to store guns. But that makes some students feel uneasy.

"Why makes guns more easily accessible after the violence we just saw at virginia tech and nationwide?" asked student Rachel Kutler.

Kutler transferred to the College of Charleston after the Virginia Tech massacre. She doesn't believe it's up to politicians to dictate student safety.

You've been pinged because of your interest in Students for Concealed Carry on Campus and the ongoing mission to remove the double standard of concealed carry between college campuses and city sidewalks.

Victory? Mass killers still know that students in the classrooms will be easy targets.

Victory is when we can CCW in class.

What bothers me is a parking lot full of cars with guns in the glove compartment waiting for collection by the same guys that used to steal your tape deck.

Besides parking lots being one of the most scary places for women to walk from and back to unarmed , it is amazing that the group of thugs gets to watch as all gun carriers pull out their $500 and $800.00 dollar guns and leave them in the unattended cars.

Nothing is secure in a car.

A victory of a sort, until the first rash of break-ins of student vehicles occur where the owners of the vehicles are known by the perpetrators to be CCW holders.

She doesn't believe it's up to politicians to dictate student safety.

But apparently she thinks it's just fine if politicians dictate student unsafety by disarming all of them.

Someone I talked to at my campus said she felt that concealed carry would be safer than car carry because of the same issues you mention. But the legislators in their infinite wisdom have only granted citizens this much leeway. So far. Trust me...this train's not stopping yet.

Exactly. I should be able to use whatever means I have to keep me and others safe. The government should stay out of it.

Either this sentence is written wrong or the student can’t say a complete sentence. One way or another, it is embarrassing
