The White House went a little bit country Tuesday.

"Now, I know folks think I'm a city boy, but I do appreciate listening to country music," President Barack Obama said to guests gathered in the East Room for a performance by country musicians Alison Krauss and Union Station.

Brad Paisley and country music legend Charley Pride also entertained the audience, which included first lady Michelle Obama, Cabinet secretaries and lawmakers.

What a friggin' joke. Hussein laughs at people who enjoy country music...bitter clingers, he called 'em.

I like Alison and Brad, just sorry to see them go hang out with Bambi. They ought to be smart enough to know he is just using them.

perhaps because I wouldn’t attend anything that this person has going on because my belief systems are so opposed to liars and thugs....... I guess that’s why I think they are “obama lovers”. Anyway, it has changed, forever, my view of Allison, and I was a big fan. She doesn’t need the money...

Has there been anything said or printed about Charley Pride, Alison Krauss, and Brad Paisley supporting Obama, or did they just accept the invitation of the POTUS to perform at the WH?

President Bush invited entertainers to perform there who disagreed with him politically.

There was a time in this country when people graciously accepted invitations to the White House, no matter who the president. Those days are gone. We no longer are Americans— but conservatives, liberals and moderates or libertarians. That’s a shame. Yes, I know entertainers and celebrities were the first to diss Pres. Bush and Pres. Reagan but no matter who’s in charge, I would go to the White House if invited.

I agree she doesn’t need the money. But reportedly she didn’t say anything to support the jackass in the office now. As opposed to Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and the Dixie SLuts - all of which opened their yaps.

The music progam sounds like a good one to me. I don’t think the politics plays into it. They did a jazz session beofre this one, next up is classical. I hope they include Blues as well.

I found the article innocuous and believe me, coming from AP, I am always skeptical. Love Alison. Saw her with Robert Plant last summer, one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended.

I don’t even have to read that to see how Ms. Kraus and Mr. Paisley are being used like pawns. But then they may very well have voted for him. What a ruse...

Can one of you brilliant freepers (and I do mean that) morph John Denver and BHO’s face.......you know add Denvers glasses and maybe a straw hat and the lower part have frayed jeans just below the knees and oh yeah, may a cute little red checked shirt and bare feet.

Dang I need to learn how to do all that on here!

Alison deserves to entertain the White House. She is a true American jewel, and so I say kudos to whoever in the administration booked em. Paisely is a good picker. Don’t care for his music—geared so heavily towars women, but I respect him. Alison I just love. Sad that it’s the Obama admin, but she’s not going to mix politics and music. I’m pretty sure she doesn’t do that. So she does the right thing, and plays the gig.

ps-— I should have said she won’t mix politics and business—hers being music. I think she plays it straight. So unless you’re going to turn down all presidents, I think you should play. I guess someone will argue that Obama is so awful that he disqualifies himself, but I don’t think a lot of people see him as all that.

So what? Didn't the Dixie Chicks do W's inaugural picnic when we was Governor of Texas? As long as they shut up and sing. Beside their are many country libs. Willie Nelson, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill are big dems. Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are also huge libs and I still love their music. Its just that they don't make a big deal out of it like Springsteen, Streisand or the Dixie Chicks.

Besides I work for commies too. Money is money

I quit listening to her anyway when she quit being performing (relatively) pure bluegrass and did like all the CCM (not that I like CCM either) performers do-”crossover” to the generic pop style after making it in their original genre. She was special when she was bluegrass, not so much when she left it.

If she had to be a commie pinko supporter, I’m glad I found it out after I quit listening anyway.

But finding out that Ralph Stanley supported this abomination, now that hurt.

So soll-ee :D But after a lifetime of his talent and paying his dues, I must forgive him for his naivete, which I would almost bet money he’s regretting now. I have the idea he comes from the old Appalachian type of Democrat, and still sees it that way. She’s young enough to know better, and young enough to probably agree with the “progressive” (socialist) wing of the party. Though I’m really making excuses for him, how could a man of what i thought was his integrity support anyone who complacently sat under the teachings, for 20 years, of a man who called upon God to d*mn America? And that wasn’t exactly a secret. On second thought, I don’t forgive him. I’ll still listen to his wonderful music, I guess, but I hope I never find anything like this out about the Osborne Brothers.

just because somebody performs at the white house doesn’t mean they actually support the president...i would imagine most of it is done out of respect and people are honored to perform for any president...and people are afraid to anger people in power as well...
