There's been a lot of panic recently over the current state and uncertain future of the American male, most often expressed by the formerly stoical American male. Obviously, the recession - unofficially and unfortunately dubbed the "he-cession" - is the main cause of worry, with 80% of job losses in the last seven months hitting men. (It's estimated that 28 million men around the world will be unemployed by the end of the year.) But there's something else going on, a sort of free-floating anxiety about not just the current utility of men but what substantial role, if any, they will not have ceded to women in the future.

You are absolutley right. Human resources is a repository for some of the worst human excrement on the face of this planet. Typically it is populated by airheaded females, gay males and backstabbing sob’s who haven’t a clue what the company does and don’t care. Of course nowadays when anybody get’s the least bit offended about anything they run to HR and make mountains out of molehills. God I am sick to death of these whiny victims in the workplace.

The reason often cited for this is that women usually hold lower paying and/or part time jobs, thus they are cheaper to hold on to. Also, they tend to be in recession proof fields, such as nursing and teaching.
BTW, it is hard to become a teacher or a nurse (especially if they have BSN’s or higher...Hospitals and clinics want the cheaper LPN’s and RN’s...And you need experience.)
Whenever possible, try to bypass a company’s HR department in a job search and go for the top (CEO/owner of a small company or a member of the executive board in a larger one). If THEY like you, you are more likely to get the job. This requires more work on the part of the prospect and extensive networking, but it is worth it.

Become as self-sufficient as you can, and stop buying things that you don’t need. We need new leaders in business, government and academia, and we can get new leaders after the defaults. There will be jobs for men after the depression, when the pussyfooters will have been deprived of revenues long enough and will be out of business.

Nursing, the highest-paying job one can get into with just an AS degree. Don’t know where the writer gets this “low-paid” stuff with regard to that. The hospital I work for, hires any nurse they can get, American or foreign, without regard to AS or BS degree. BS gets a light bump. The only hospitals I know of that require experience are the Kaiser ones, and that is because of the UNION there.
