TEHRAN (AFP) - Iranian Intelligence Minister Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejeie said on Friday that Israel had planned to assassinate Mahmoud Ahmadinejad around the time of last month's presidential election.

I was going to write the words "A pretext for attacking Israel?" but you beat me to the thought. It looks like Israel is gearing up to attack Iran in the next few weeks. Iran knows this. They may very well uses this "news" as an excuse to build sympathy for a preemptive attack.
