Former fighters from the Kosovo Liberation staged Thursday a protest demonstration in the capital of the Kosovo Republic Prishtina.

About 50 men who fought in the KLA in 1998-1999 rallied in demand of an increase of their government pensions, BGNES reported.

The demonstrators even threw a hand-made bomb and two explosives in the yard of the Cabinet headquarters in Prishtina but they failed to go off.

NATO troops from KFOR arrived at the spot of the incident in order to remove the explosives, and the police isolated the whole quarter.

The leaders of the KLA protesters have vowed to continue with their rallies.

Paying pensions for separatist guerrillas on our dime, and leaving KFOR to clean up the explosives. Nice "thank you" to us, huh?

Paying for slammies to cleanse any remaining Christian Serbs from the area.

McMafia: A Journey Through the Global Criminal Underworld
Misha Glenny
http://www.amazon.com/McMafia-Journey-Through-Criminal-Underworld/dp/1400044111

From Publishers Weekly
Starred Review. Former BBC World correspondent Glenny (The Balkans, 1804–1999) presents a riveting and chilling journey through the myriad criminal syndicates flourishing in our increasingly globalized world, which make up as much as 20% of global GNP. Tracing the growth of organized crime—ranging from the burgeoning sex trade in volatile, postcommunist Bulgaria to elaborate Internet frauds in Nigeria—Glenny expertly combines interviews with key players, economic studies and sociological analysis. He argues that the chaos and political upheaval following the demise of communism in Eastern Europe, along with increasing demand in the West and the easy flow of money and people provided the perfect opportunity for organized crime to gain a foothold on the dark side of the globalizing economy. Glenny’s achievement is in introducing readers to the less familiar aspects of global crime, from Kazakhstan’s caviar mafia to the flourishing marijuana trade in British Columbia. Consequently, his interview subjects are equally varied: sex slaves in Tel Aviv, a co-conspirator in the deadly 1993 Mumbai bombings and top Washington policy makers share the pages. Readers yearning for a deeper understanding of the real-life, international counterparts to The Sopranos need look no further than Glenny’s engrossing study. 16 pages of photos; maps. 100,000announced first printing. (Apr. 10)

Yes, where communism left off, organized crime moved in:

Suspected people traffickers arrested

"High level of corruption in Kosovo"

"Kosovo police involved in arms smuggling"

Gendarmes injured in grenade attack in south

Cannes heist: Panthers strike again?

Police remove bomb found under Maserati

It's all organized crime coming North & West through the Balkans, especially through Kosovo.

I've often thought that al Qaeda likely finances itself through exploiting "the sins of the West" with an organized crime network -- exporting drugs, exporting women and children for prostitution, controlling gambling in Western cities, and exploiting Western bureaucratic financial corruption and the Western lust for political & economic power over the East -- in short exploiting Western "free society" to break us down morally while they reap enormous financial profits to finance their political expansion into Europe and the US.

Wait a minute. Madeleine Albright says these are the good guys! These are the Islamo-terrorist, drug-running Marxists we fought a war for. Bill Cohen will be very disappointed.

"Wait a minute. Madeleine Albright says these are the good guys! These are the Islamo-terrorist, drug-running Marxists we fought a war for. Bill Cohen will be very disappointed."

Have got to wonder Deb whether or not our political & financial elite and that of Europe specifically chose to empower an organized crime network to accomplish their own goals & make money.

$Billions in financial aid have gone to "rebuild Kosovo" and the money has just completely disappeared -- the people living there got nothing for it and neither did we. Have got to wonder --did our tax dollars sent as "aid" just get laundered to be returned as "clean money" to stuff Euro and US political pockets and campaigns chests?

It's not as though this organized crime network has been a secret -- organized crime has been conducting business (sex-slaving, people-trafficking, drug-trafficking, illegal arms trafficking) under the noses of 16,000 NATO soldiers, KFOR, the UN's Civilian Mission and now EUFOR in an area about the size of San Diego County, California for the last ten years. It was doing precisely the same thing it had been for the thirty years before we ever got there, but with us there, it's now functioning on a much larger scale.

The entire Kosovo debacle is a heart-breaker. Watching it happen made me sick to my stomach and it was made worse because most conservative politicians weren't aware of what was actually happening.

Unfortunately there's no mechanism for uncovering, reporting or acting on any of the stolen millions. Certainly no one in the Obama administration would do anything about it if the facts dropped in their soup.

"The entire Kosovo debacle is a heart-breaker. Watching it happen made me sick to my stomach and it was made worse because most conservative politicians weren't aware of what was actually happening."

Back in 1999, most Republicans were against the NATO Bombing of Yugoslavia for Kosovo -- until John McCain took up the mantle for the Kosovo Albanians. John McCain, who'd had a lot of Republican political power behind the scenes as long-time Chair of the IRI, had been a virtual unknown to the average American until the NATO Bombing of Yugoslavia. At the time, McCain even pushed for an invasion of all of Serbia & Montenegro with US ground troops, but thankfully never got it.

Within 6 months of our invasion of Kosovo, over 300,000 Serbs, Roma and other non-Albanians were sent running for their lives out of Kosovo, over 100 ancient Christian churches were desecrated or destroyed, and Camp Bondsteel -- planned and designed long before the NATO bombing -- was being planted in Kosovo on another country's sovereign territory without their permission. Currently, the president of Serbia is Boris Tadic who was also trained at McCain's IRI.

In short, the rise of John McCain to national prominence was the end of the Republican Party as we had known it and the beginning of the US government being used not "for the people and by the people", but for the use of international financiers and globalist's expansionist ambitions.

I especially remember colonel David Hackworth tub-thumping against the serbs and defending the KLA. I had always thought he was a unique and cool voice and was stunned by his position till I did a little research and learned more about him.

McCain was a disgrace. When you wreck more than two fighter jets, you should go work in your wife's brewery.

Are you sure that it was Col. David Hackworth? Because I followed events pretty closely back then and my recollections were always that "Hack" said,"Stay out it. Kosovo is Serbia".

Nope. He was on FOX night after night defending the war and trashing the Serbs. I was really disappointed because I had always thought he was a gung-ho military guy who wore black turtle-necks and leather jackets.

You may be talking about before the bombing, but after Clinton started it, he changed and said we had "to win". He never noted that the whole thing was cover (wag the dog) for Monica and other Clinton abuses.

Wow, because everything Hack put in print was the exact opposite -- saying that we had no business being there, it was internal and we were on the wrong side. But you obviously saw something that I didn't.

I even caught this Fox broadcast during the bombing with Hack and Joseph Dio Guardi, on YouTube. Hack tells Dio Guardi off for doing something undignified for an ex US Congressman.

PS The book that DioGuardi holds up is BS -- says Milosevic was "planning the expulsion of Albanians since 1937" when Milosevic wasn't even born until 1941!

I can’t make youtube work, but something may have happened to his thinking along the way, like his support for Wesley Clark’s presidential campaign after trashing him for years as “The Perfumed Prince”. I know he was a champion of the foot soldier which is why his defense of the Serb war surprised me.

"I can’t make youtube work"

Hack says flat out that he wouldn't send his son to fight over Kosovo, that the KLA is drug-funded -- and believe it or not, Hannity & Colme's, Colmes agrees with him.

Hack also chewed out ex-Congressman Joseph Dio Guardi (who was there) for burning the Serbian flag at a protest, saying that he thought it completely inappropriate of an US Congressman to burn another country's flag. He told Dio Guardi that he if he was so gung ho for the Albanians & Kosovo to go get a gun and defend them himself, not to expect Americans to do it!

He was, of course, right.

"No but Serbs were planning it since 1912. Come from Russia, take over some land and try to expel the natives.

The Serbs have been in the Balkans as long as the Anglo-Saxons have been in Great Britain -- since the 6th century. Get over it.

The rest is your usual "racist on speed" boring, nonsense posts that is so all over the place it makes no logical sense. Yawn....
