Some pundits are using President Barack Obama's throwing out the first pitch at the 2009 All Stars Baseball game to find a new way to criticize him. Apparently, though it was not readily apparent to TV audience, Obama throws like a girl.
The account by Examiner Larry Amon was typical.
"Yesterday, at the major league all star game President Obama threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Now politically this doesn't matter much but for a president who has carefully crafted his image, especially as a sports enthusiast, it's worth noting that President Obama is not much of a baseball player. He pushed the ball rather than throwing it like a pitcher. It was a softball style throw except that it was overhand. All of the news media pointed out that Obama made it over the plate."

It did not bounce, but the player acting as catcher was standing virtually on top of the plate and had to move forward to get it.

Not to pile on Barry’s lack of athletic talent...(but I will)...back during the NCAA Final Four, the Bamster was shooting hoops with someone (forget who)...but soooooo much was made in the media of how ‘young’ ‘atheletic’ yada yada...he is. But when they showed him shooting the basketball his hands were all wrong (no ‘gooseneck’ after the shot on the follow thru) he kinda ‘launched’ the ball towards the hoop...EVEN I CAUGHT THAT!!! I kinda figured thats why Coach K (of Duke) was so dismissive of talking to The One...no respect (or ability to play the game).

0 admitted during the booth interview that he did not play baseball as a boy. That alone should disqualify him from being president.

He goes into into this big windup like he thinks he’s some big time relief closer and then tosses out this lob ball that my 3 year old daughter would have laughed at.
That was obvious during campaign stops in Indiana, however, the media lauded his abilities. I thought he just looked like someone who had very little experience shooting a basketball.
Agree, many girls throw very well. Fast pitch softball pitchers come to mind.
0bama’s pitching reminds me more of Rudy Stein from the “Bad News Bears”, who could barely reach home plate, and had to be replaced by an outstanding female pitcher. Is there a political parable in there somewhere?

It needs to be asked?
Two things: 1) any critique of a president’s baseball acumen ought to be written by someone who knows better than to write about the Baseball All Stars game (it’s the All-Star Game), about Albert “Pojus” catching the pitch, or about how GW Bush “through” a better pitch in 2001...
...and 2) we really need to see him have a catch with Malia before we assess whether he throws like a girl; it’s entirely conceivable that he was so concerned about not throwing a wild pitch that he sort of just guided the ball up there.
That said, I resented the way he treated it like it was a photo-op, controlling the conditions, “using” the event to make it about him, running everywhere he went, just to prove that he’s young, hip and unaffected by the smokes. I imagine he’s mortified that he’s being criticized for his girlie throw, which is encouraging to me — since, to him, image is absolutely everything. He needs to not be so self-conscious (although, if I were him, with those radar-ears and liver lips, I’d be self-conscious, too).

I guess they don't teach you how to throw a baseball in Kenya or Indonesia. I've seen a lot of girls who threw better than Hussein.
