I thought string theory had been disproved and M-theory had replaced it with membranes instead of strings.
The theory that a new universe is created every time a quantum event or decision could go one way or another is IMHO a half-baked theory that appears to violate the basic laws of thermodynamics and theories on conservation of mass/energy.
I was in one of the halls once at CalTech when the lecturer asked how many believed in the Many Worlds interpretation. About 50% raised their hands. Then he asked how many didn’t. Some 50% raised their hands with a bunch of characters hedging their bets and voting twice.
Thus...hmm-hmm...The Theory.
Of course there is at least one universe for every combination/permutation of hands raised ... especially if as some suggest ... thoughts in our minds are quantum mechanical operations!
Good Lord....
