Palin says she's not leaving politics
The Hendersonville News / The Associated Press ^ | July 12, 2009

Posted on 07/12/2009 6:24:49 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she's not only staying involved in national politics, but she plans to jump back into the national scrum when she leaves office at the end of the month.

The former Republican vice presidential nominee said she plans to write a book, campaign for political candidates from coast to coast — even Democrats who share her views on limited government, national defense and energy independence — and build a right-of-center coalition.

"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," she said during an interview published Sunday in The Washington Times.

Palin shocked critics and allies alike when she announced on July 3 that she would leave the governor's office while in the middle of her first term. The governor chose not to seek re-election and suggested it was unfair to hold onto the office as a lame duck. Instead, she will step down July 26 and pursue a national profile. She has not said whether she is building toward a presidential campaign for 2012.

Honest question for the crowd, which is of course part A) me always trying to stir the pot for amusement and B) genuine curiosity as I continue my attempt to learn more about Governor Palin.

What has governor Palin seen through all the way?

With this I mean due to the fact that she attended 4 undergraduate institutations (correct me if I am wrong) and was unable to complete a full term as a governor, I am wondering what she did complete 100 percent

Did she complete a full term as mayor? Is she someone I can rely on to actually see something all the way through?

They WISH she was done. They are still “mystified” about why she resigned. I guess all it takes to be a journalist these days is a 2nd grade education. Apparently Sarah should give another press conference, this time using sock puppets to explain herself, these dumb as a bucket of rocks journalists still can’t figure it out LOL

What is this crap about her campaigning for rats? She said she would campaign with people that share her values, since when does a rat share conservative values? To me her statement was a way of taking care of any ‘bipartisan’ questions without having to play nice for rats.

Yes she completed a full term of Mayor, then went on to the Alaskan Oil and Gas commission, which she ended up resigning(people act like this is the first time she has done this) due to corruption that she was disgusted about

Being a man, I have no idea what it takes to complete any pregnancy.

So, give me something I can relate to. For example, I am an Eagle Scout. Completed undergrad in 3.5 years. Got a masters. Completed a rigorous 6 month training program in order to serve our country.

Pregnancy, honestly, I got no clue about that.

As a fellow Eagle Scout, let me ask this.

Let’s say you were leading your patrol through the woods, and came to a field of poison ivy to which you saw no end.

You know of no way through it. But, a junior member of your patrol does.

Do you insist on staying in charge, or let him take the lead?

It means not taking the “easy” way out.

You are an Eagle Scout, so I’m sure you understand this: sometimes giving up is the hardest option because it harms your pride, even though it allows you to win later.

Sun Tzu said “The general who advances without coveting fame and retreats without fearing disgrace, whose only thought is to protect his country and do good service for his sovereign, is the jewel of the kingdom.”

Chang Yu said “If he can fight, he advances and takes the offensive; if he cannot fight, he retreats and remains on the defensive. He will invariably conquer who knows whether it is right to take the offensive or the defensive.”

Wellington said “The hardest thing a General can do is retreat”

Did Mr. Obama finish his first term as a U.S. Senator? Or did he campaign, non-stop, for a better job after 140 days in office? Did Governors Janet Napolitano (D-AZ), Kathleen Sebelius (D-KS)and Jon Huntsman (R-UT) finish their terms? Why no discussion of their “quitting” and leaving their constituents in the lurch? Oh, because they moved on to other government jobs? Aren’t they still all “quitters” just as Governor Palin is now accused of being? Do we have a permanent ruling class now? It’s okay to quit as long as as you stay in a government position? But campaigning for fellow conservatives and being with your family is wrong?!

It hit me this morning walking the dog.....something everyone had missed, the pondits, TV clowns, writers, et al: America Wants Sarah to be President. Period.

We don’t care what her background is, what her experiecne is, where she’s from what she wears, who backs her, etc. We want her to be our President and that’s all that matters....

I mean, look what we have now: Barney Frank, Al Franken, the Bomb....where is the criteria there? HOW could she be any worse than them......She is more honest than any of these clowns, has more administrative experience than the Bomb, has more proven moral intigrity that any 20 congress critters or Senators already demonstrated by her actions to date.....

She has tougher skin than any other elected offical and they have NEVER had to go through what she has had to go through, and she isn’t even President yet....

Quitter????? You mean by not milking one job to run for another, (Biden, Bomba, Hilterly, etc, etc, etc) she is a quitter.....don’t make me laugh....

And if she stayed up nights and worked around the clock she couldn’t be worse than those mentioned above, not even if she tried.....

So I say to the Andrea Mitchell Greenspans and the other hosts of fraud, and especially our good friends at the View, (worthless creitians whose opinion is worth less than toilet paper, which after all does serve a purpose) take a trip, get out, we don’t care what you think or say:

America has decided to give Sarah a chance to see what she can do, and that’s all you other clowns need to know.

I don't think she said "Democrats", the writer of the article did. What she said was "I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation".

That doesn't mean "Democrats", and that probably scares RINOs quite a bit.

Again, I am not talking about the President.

I hate Freepers that try and deflect arguments. Its weak, and its a method liberals use in arguing.

Sack up and talk about Governor Palin and stop deflecting like a weak kneed liberal.

I am curious to see if there was anything someone could point to indicating Governor Palin had the ability to see something all the way through. Someone pointed out she completed a full term as mayor which answered my question

As a Veteran, I would expect this would actually be important to you in a leader, seeing that they have the cajones to actually see something all the way through and not leave 2/3 of the way through their obligations.

Imagine if all soldiers were able to do what Governor Palin did

Thats an interesting analogy there.

From my perspective in the peanut gallery (which is all I am really), Governor Palin essentially got through her Scoutmaster conference, but has decided not to go to the Board of Review because the people on the board have it out for her.

When she was going through her Board of Review for attaining the rank of Life Scout, there were some Board members who asked her inane questions, made it a much longer process, and just wasted her time.

Because of that, she doesn’t want do the final board of review for getting her Eagle.

Agreed. We should not base her worth on “sticking with” especially in the form of institutions but rather WHAT she accomplishes or what she inspires others to accomplish. A lot of the “smartest” people I know who have multiple degrees have NO common sense.
Higher education is wonderful and useful when their is no humanistic dogma involved then it becomes sterile and pretentious.

I think people are missing the “what for” and looking at the “why” of her decision. She sees a bigger problem and within the same realm of politics is looking to deal with it. Not a retreat but a clever advance against the enemy is my observation.

I’m pretty sure she also completed her term as City Councillor. But here’s a question for you, and I ask mine to solicit an alternate opinion. Gov. Jindal has jumped from position to position to position. In every job, in every capacity, he has not hung around after righting the ship. I understand that. Why should he - to stick around and babysit his projects? No, thank you. Give me a dynamic soul. So, returning to Palin, how do you define completing a job? Is a job done when you achieve the goals that you defined at the outset or is it simply a term, whatever that is - a semester, a year, 2 years or 6?

Seeing as I wrote reports for Presidents Carter and Reagan, I am well aware of what the office calls for. As you might imagine, being a Spec/4 in the White House is akin to being a mouse at the Madison Square Garden Cat Show. But even mice have eyes and ears, and I saw and heard quite a bit.

I don’t have a spare million or two to give Governor Palin to fend off the ankle-biters that file ethics complaints as if they’re being paid by the word (which, come to think of it, might be so). BTW, who are you to tell me to “sack up” and so forth? If you don’t like that Governor Palin quit, for the reasons she gave in her resignation speech, don’t vote for her if she runs again. Simple as that. I’m not her campaign press flack, that I have to explain her every move to the voters. You either trust her, or you don’t. Methinks your cultural background might be influencing you, vis a vis a woman in power, but what do I know, right?

Its an interesting question.

James K Polk chose not to run for re-election because he accomplished everything he sought out to do, in particular expand America to the Pacific.

I would say this, voters vote for you expecting you to complete your term. Regardless if you have “finished” everything you sought out to do, you need to show you can complete a high profile term before jumping to higher office

To me personally, it shows that you are committed to a job you signed up for, and not about personal ambition.

(Which I agree should have been used much more forcefully against Senator Obama last fall)

Eh, not really. Granted I was never a fan of Benazir Bhutto (and certainly no fan of her now in charge husband), but the nation my parents are from HAS elected a woman as leader.

I am much more interested in someone, such as Ronald Reagan, who spent years honing his craft, building a foundation for his movement, and after serving his constituents in California, as he promised to while campaigning for Governor, sought after and attained the highest office in the land.

Governor Reagan was wildly successful, accomplished quite a bit, but also had many liberal detractors in California. Yet he took them on and served a full 2 terms as he promised Californians he would do.

b. Change the rules of the game so that your adversaries are caught flat-footed.
