Her father had just won agreement from the Russians to cut back on the world's stockpiles of nuclear weapons. And Barack Obama's eldest daughter was obviously keen to make her own statement on the issue - even if it was merely a fashion statement.
Just 48 hours after the U.S. President signed agreements with Russian president Dmitry Medvedev to reduce weapon stores, 11-year-old Malia Obama was spotted wearing not one, but two T-shirts with an anti-nuclear message.
She wore the tops emblazoned with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament's famous logo as her father prepared for three days of G8 talks in Italy.

First there was a grey T-shirt bearing the CND logo to visit the Colosseum in Rome with her mother Michelle and seven-year-old sister Sasha. Then during the visit she swapped it for a mottled white and grey top also bearing the logo.
The symbol, designed for the CND in 1958, is now widely used to signify peace and is also an international sign for anti-war protesters.
Mr Obama spent two days in Moscow this week meeting president Dmitry Medvedev and prime minister and former president Vladimir Putin.
There the American and Russian leaders agreed a landmark deal to reduce their stockpiles of nuclear weapons.

Oh, he was “blending in” with the Russians..or was it the Italians?
To a terrorist, a secret service agent dressed up like a homeboy in the middle of a european city..just increased the unique signature of the target, imho.
With the kids, but if you travel to Europe, he would blend in pretty well, nothing unusual about that, typical youth fashion in the first world.. I think by the fact so few have made comments thinking he was a Secret Service agent has proven the point.

For those of us who lived through the 60’s the message is clear.
My kid is on facebook having a “discussion” about his 60% disapproval rating right now. :)
There you go. This 11 year old isn’t just anybody’s child.
She is the daughter of the POTUS.
And, she isn’t playing on the swing set in the back yard with her little friends.
She is a pre-teen child accompanying her father, the POTUS, on the world stage at an international summit. The symbol may have been on her T-shirt, but the message to the world was from her parents.
Hopefully she’ll become a rebellious teenager and turn into Christian conservative patriot, the polar opposite of her parents.
And what are the recipients of the message to say/think in response? “[sigh] Another child who thinks herself wiser than her elders. Of course we all want peace. What she does not understand is we all want our own ‘peace’, which may be deeply incompatible with that of others. Meh.”
I believe we should all , black, white ,yellow, brown , red , and any shade in between live in harmonious peace with our fellow creatures big and small on our island home Mother Earth.
The t-shirt is certainly a reflection of those sentiments, even though it was probably made by abused 12 year olds in a hell hole in some misbegotten country.
And the response is the same as when Jimmy Carter's daughter reviewed the troops of some nation: "her father is a lightweight who knows nothing of diplomacy and power; we shall make him a pawn unto our own ends."
The Kos people can watch all they want. I think the girls are adorable. They’re parents are idiots, but that isn’t their fault.
Well, they can kiss my ass. The America-hating Marxist’s race does not make him immune to criticism.
The Left creates Victims that we cannot criticize. Remember the Jersey Girls? Do you think using Obama’s children to send a message is an accident?
