It took Germany nearly 1000 years after the fall of Rome to get past tribal-thinking. Native American tribalism in the western hemisphere was basically undone by diseases against with the folk had no genetic protection. Africa is still struggling with the genocidal proclivities of tribalism. And it was just two centuries ago tribalism nearly destroyed New Zealand’s aborigines after they acquired firearms from white colonists. We could do a great deal of harm if this isn’t handled correctly. Let history be our guide.

We should tread lightly in Afghanistan but persist in bringing knowledge of the outside world into that nation. Islam is an explosive a cultural force there - it is a violent religion that causes harm and provides little in the way of cooperative solutions. I believe it is exacerbating an already volatile political-cultural situation. Do I have a ready solution? No. But slowly evolving change, in the example of Germany, is better than forced, rapid change.

Capitalization problems, too. Are you claiming that the socialist paradise of either Washington State or Oregon has failed to teach you spelling? Grab a Starbucks and tell us all about your fascination with things Tennessean in words of one syllable or less.

Microsoft Word has a decent spellchecker, if the Herculean task of spelling correctly is beyond your training.

The night we started bombing in Afghanistan a fried of ours who is familar with Asia told us that “we must’ve put out the one light in Kabul” meaning that there really was little to begin with there. Life there must be very similar to what it was in most places 600 years ago.

We must at all cost not become the russians there but, is it worth our treasure to be there?

I’d vote no.

If Al Qaida didn’t exist I would vote no, too.

We are there because of Al Qaida - and for no other reason. Now they are trying to overthrow Pakistan and grab nukes. Do you want them to have nuclear weapons? Well, do you!?
