Add Romney’s stance on wanting a comprehensive immigration reform bill and you’ve got a disaster. Hey Mitt how about enforcing our existing immigration laws.

Is Romney seeking the Dem. nomination in 2012? I did not know he was running against Hussien in the primaries.

Plus, Mitt is the one who let the gay genie out of the closet (bottle) in Mass. You are TOAST Mitt anywhere right of center! You make McLame look like Reagan!!

state taxpayers have had to shell out an additional $88 million per year to insure an additional 430,000 citizens

This seems too good to be true. That's just over $200 a person per year.

“It’s working like we had hoped it would work,” the one-time republic presidential candidate said. “We got nearly everybody in Massachusetts health insurance, which really, something people didn't think was possible.”

It's not hard to get everybody to have insurance, if you pass a law that requires them to have insurance, and fines them the cost of insurance if they don't.

I'm glad they did this in Mass., because we can look at the results and see that providing everybody health insurance drives up health care costs -- something that should be obvious, something that even Romney notes, but which seems to be ignored by the media.

You can either provide everybody health insurance, or you can cut costs. You can't really do both unless you force everybody into a single-payer system run by the Government, and then ration health care.

We could significantly trim health care costs if we made it illegal to have health insurance for anything but catastrophic care. Then everybody would have to pay out of pocket, so doctors would have to compete for dollars.

If we had a national food insurance program, a Big Mac meal would have a $20 co-pay and you would have to schedule it a week in advance and wait 30 minutes when you got there.

Twenty-six percent (26%) of Massachusetts voters say their state’s health care reform effort has been a success. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds that 37% say the reform effort has been a failure, while another 37% are not sure.

Only 10% of Bay State voters say the quality of health care has gotten better as a result of the reform plan while 29% say it has gotten worse. Most (53%) say the quality of care has not changed.

As for cost, 21% say the reform has made health care more affordable in Massachusetts. Twenty-seven percent (27%) say health care is now less affordable while 44% see no change.

Romney is trying to make preemptive moves now that he perceives weakness in the Palin camp. He is going to try and take advantage of her resigning to look "presidential".

From what I have seen and heard about him...he's McCain with a better haircut.

Draft Sarah Palin for President...go ahead and impeach commiebama and Sarah can start right away.

He is helping to draw a very visible line between the RINOs and the conservatives, like Palin.

The more the RINOs box themselves in (with the leftists), the better it is for us and the country.

He did insist, however, that on a national level politicians ought to be able to create a system where every citizen has health insurance.

True, since it has been made clear to us climate heritics that the government does indeed have the power to alter the world's climate, it should be child's play for them to change the laws of economics and the marketplace.

Success? Not according to this article.

"For middle-income people not qualifying for state-subsidized health insurance, costs are too high for even skimpy coverage. For an individual earning $31,213, the cheapest plan can cost $9,872 in premiums and out-of-pocket payments."

and

"Low-income residents, previously eligible for free care, have insurance policies requiring unaffordable copayments for office visits and medications."

and

"High-deductible plans that have additional out-of-pocket expenses can result in many people not using their insurance when they are sick."

and

"Spending for the Commonwealth Care subsidized program has doubled, from $630 million in 2007 to an estimated $1.3 billion for 2009, which is not sustainable."

If the GOP gives us Mitt in 2012, I won't vote for him.

though he concedes what many in the Bay State are grappling with now, that the hardest part of the reform debate is controlling costs

It's not hard.

Kill the old, the infirm, the newborns who are sick, and raise everybody's taxes.

There are only two real answers to healthcare. Deny it to anyone that cannot afford it or provide it to everyone. There isn’t really any other option.. the costs of the people that don’t pay at all burden the rest of us. So force them to pay or deny it to them.

Personally I would take forcing them to pay.. but I’m sure others would prefer killing them all.

There is a really easy way to fix this. they want health insurance for everyone, fine, let's do it. But don't start your own insurance company, become a customer. It would put more people back to work, it would stabilize the insurance companies, and with that big of customer, or even if they spread it out among several companies, health care cost would be lowered.

How to pay for it is just as easy, lease out the off shore and ANWAR rights to oil companies and take part of the revenue (like a private land owner would) and not only would it pay for insurance, it would lower the HELL out of gas prices, end dependence on Arab oil and would be a boom in the US economy.

The Left likes to point out that Government spending during WWII ended the depression, but what they miss is that FDR didn't go create tank, aircraft and munitions companies, they became customers. 0bama and the left want to create State companies because they love socialism.

““Some people say. ‘Oh, it’s expensive,’ but actually, it cost less than two percent of the state budget.””

From what I have heard, it has morphed into the beast that ate the budget and is now about TEN TIMES as much as it was just 3 or 4 years ago. And it’s going UP next year!
