I am still royally PO’d at Jeb for his surprise endorsement of McCain on the eve of the Florida presidential primary. IIRC it came out of the blue and by sheer weight of its being sprung on us without warning and too late to counter he was probably more responsible for us being stuck with McCain than any other single person.
Let me hasten to say I have nothing but respect for John McCain as a man and a warrior, but he was certainly way down my list as a possible GOP nominee. And I feel the way the election played out sort of confirms where I had him on my list.

McCain sends a message, too: pandering to illegal aliens doesn’t work for the GOP.
Republicans win as the `law-and-order’ party.

Duncan Hunter's district is less than 14% Latino.
I haven't seen an immigration hawk in any competitive race win on that issue, although many have tried.
Dubya got elected by small margins with a percentage of the Latino votes we aren't going to see again for a long, long time because of all the immigrant bashing. Do the math - it isn't pretty.

Actually the only ethnicity I hate because of their ethnicity are WASP, patricians like Jeb. I'm fine with letting tons of Mexicans in if they're educated and skilled. There's a ton of them down there, but we're getting all of the leaf blowers. Some leaf blowers are fine too (we all start somewhere), but just not the horde we're getting. Maybe we can get some fine Spanish governors and politicians in here to do the jobs that people like Jeb will not do.
To: pissant
Another rino Bush messing with the English language...HATE?
No, what they refuse to admit is they refuse to enforce the LAW!
Tancredo has never used ‘hate’, but it’s clear Bush’s like JEb hate the rule of law and its enforcement.

It’s not about hating Hispanics, Jeb Burh, and you know it.
It’s about an illegal immigration that has nothing to do with other than blatant disregard for our nation’s sovereignty.
You are a sell-out Jeb. Get lost.

People of Hispanic descent make up some of our best citizens and armed forces volunteers, not to mention baseball players, cooks and auto mechanics. But somehow, these great Hispanic citizens tend to think of themselves as Americans who happen to be of Hispanic descent, not La Raza types hell-bent on remaking America in their own image.
Most of us can tell the difference Jeb, why can't you??????

“its the tone that makes them come off as racist rubes.”
Tone? Tancredo or anyone wanting the borders secure and law enforced NEVER spoke against Mexicans/hispanics. MANY AMERICAN Mexicans want the illegals gone as well. What about their ‘tone’. What wanting the rule of law enforced? Wanting our borders secure? The tone you speak of is SOCIALIST!
Your and the Bush view is turning this nation into a banana republic. Hope you like it!
Here’s some ‘tone’ for you. How do we reach out to people who want us DEAD???HMM? These are the RACISTS, and the Bush’s are just as guilty.
L.A. Latinos celebrate the Farce of July
Canada Free Press ^ | July 5, 2009 | Dr. Paul L. Williams

Goodbye, Gringo America
Its payback time for white America.
Americas Palestinians are on the march, chanting Ahora es la tiempo por audacia!
Thousands of Latinos are gathering this Independence Day to celebrate the Farce of July.
This annual all-day concert and street fair is held on Cesar Chavez Avenue in East Los Angeles - - the heart of the barrio.
The event is sponsored by the Aztlan Underground to uphold the claim that the Southwest portion of the United States had been stolen from Mexicans and Mexican Americans ......
Members of the Aztlan Movement and La Raza (of which Supreme Council nominee Sotomayor is a national director) seek to annex California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and southern Colorado into a new nation: Republica del Norte, the Republic of the North.”
see Last years event poster
Sounds like a far-fetched idea save for the fact that the 56% of Mexicans and Mexican Americans, according to a Zogby poll, favor the reconquista.
The creation of a Hispanic Homeland, Charles Truxillo, professor, University of New Mexico, maintains, is an inevitability that should be brought into being by any means necessary.
But the reconquista wont end with territorial occupation and secession. The final plan for the La Raza movement includes the ethnic cleansing of Americans of European, African, and Asian descent out of Aztlan.

And the only reason "the Destroyer of the Republican Party", Bush, won his last election was because Kerry was such an anti-military POS.
Had there been a true Conservative in the last election, we might have been able to overcome the no-more-bush's stigma. If Republicans don't win the Whitehouse for a long time to come it will be because RINO's are still running the party.

How sad is it that Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin are the only people on a national level to call attention to the real agenda in Washington, and call it by its real name? Amen brother... and look at how both of these people have been vilified by the MSM, so you know they're right. People like the Bushs and McLame are part of the problem especially on this issue. Their mentality seems to be that we ignore the rule of law and turn a blind eye as long as the GOP gets elected. Sorry but we've been doing that since 1986 and what has it gotten us? We now have an unabashed Saul Alinsky Marxist in the White House and a rubber stamp lapdog congress to push his agenda through.
I'm fed up with the country club RINOs offering us a slower path to the egress as opposed to the dims rocket sled to destruction!!!
When the GOP gets their set of onions back and stands for something other than "vote for us because we don't suck as much." then maybe they'll start winning elections again. But they better hurry it's the 11th hour and they're still lost in the wilderness /rant

Sometimes good advice comes from the most unlikely of places. And sometimes stupidity comes from the likeliest of places.
In this case, it comes from a Bush. The hell it does.
In an interview with Tucker Carlson for Esquire magazine, Gov. Jeb Bush stated the most obvious fact of American electoral politics today: if the GOP is to rise again, it has to stop hating on Hispanics or at least it has to stop appearing to be hating on Hispanics! Jeb, the citizens of the United States are who you work for, or should be representing. Those citizens live by the laws of our nation, and they expect the same thing from foreign nationals who come here. I don't know how you run your home, but it's my guess people don't walk through the back door and flop anywhere they like. Why should our nation be run any different? And if you wouldn't provide limitless lodging and access to all your resources in your home, why should the nation do it?
If you want equality, and I can't imagine that you would favor racial preferences, then you must expect the Mexican populace to go by the same immigration policies people from Poland do. Otherwise you're a flaming race baiting racist.
Hes talking about you, Tom Tancredo, non-office-holding cable-news ranter. He's not talking about Tancredo or anyone else who demands the legitimate laws of our nation be enforced. And any implication otherwise, is a big lie.
[T]he demographics are going against us. Alex [Castellanos, Republican media consultant] told me today, for example, that there is not a district in California where Republicans are out-registering Democrats. Republicans aren't out trying to register people like the Democrats are. I see Democrats everywhere. So what. They register people and those people don't show up. So what's the value. The Republicans register far fewer, but those folks show up. The problem isn't registrations, it's selling the product. California's Republican leadership is invisible. The citizens of the state haven't been told what Republicans believe in decades. And even at that, we still win ballot initiatives. Don't tell the RP leadership though, they're convinced we can't win with Conservative arguments.
Of the fifty-three districts I think thats right not a single one has an improving situation. Its striking. So you have a shift. The shift is self induced. Consider what the sales figures would do for any automobile manufacturer, if they discontinued airing any commercials? Do you think their sales would suffer. Well it's the same thing in politics. You should know that. How much money did you spend on airtime in your elections? Did it help? In California the RP refuses to help fund airtime for Conservatives. Did your world-class consultant tell you that big fella?
Theres more minorities. The voter-registration efforts have been successful by Democrats, ACORN and the like. The swing voters are Hispanic voters in most of the swing states. And Republicans have done a poor job, sending signals that Hispanics arent wanted in our party. Which is bizarre. The only thing bizarre about it, is that you are buying this pap. We just had an initiative that had been drawn up to legalize homosexual marriage in California. Guess what Jeb, it failed. So much for the big swing vote going against Conservative dogma. We just had a pastel of bond measures go before the public. They were terrible, and the public voted them down. So much for the big swing vote going against Conservative Dogma.
Honestly, you, your consultant, and most of the Republicans in this nation haven't a clue when it comes to California. The bread and butter issues here are still handled correctly when the voters have an opportunity, and the information gets out there. Most of the recent Conservative information that has gotten out there was put out there by Conservative taxpayer groups and the like, because the RP has it's wallet welded shut, and it's head up it's... well never mind. Of course you folks never miss a beat to declare this all a problem of racism, Conservatives hating Mexicans etcetera. Say Jeb, do you realize what you're doing right here is the major cause of it.
If you'd pull your head out long enough to study the issue, you'd realize that our U.S. Citizens of Mexican heritage are fully capable of understanding right from wrong. I guess you don't fully realize what an insulting dismissing ignorant slob you are. Well, some of your fellow citizen sure do.
The people that are on television are the loudest on the immigration issue. The emotion, the anger, is a signal. Put aside the substance, but just in terms of the language. It makes it sound like them and us. And the evidence is that after [the GOP] making major inroads, Hispanics have turned toward the Democratic party in the last two election cycles. Big time. Compare that to how my brother did and how I did and how other Republican candidates have done in the past and you can see a trend line thats quite disturbing. The curve in understanding is quite pronounced all right. And it's dunderhead fools like you that spout these racist falsehoods that are the cause for the discrediting of those who demand our laws be enforced.
Jeb, do you realize how many bank robbers we are losing because Republicans are law and order people. Why the families of bank robbers are by and large Democrats. That just about the level of stupidity that you are leveling here. I'm sick of it, and my fellow citizens are just as sick of it.
Its possible [to oppose illegal immigration without coming off as anti-Hispanic] but it requires a tone thats different. If you listen to the conversation, its not just words; its how theyre spoken. It has to be dispassionate, the language. But it hasnt been. How would you state it then Jeb, when people who are here who shouldn't be, and we're tired of footing their bills. What do you want us to do, hand out more goodies to win them over? I know you want to legalize them. That won't stop the drain on our resources though. It would be wrong to reward their lawlessness. It would be wrong for us to have to institutionally tied to the perpetual support of them. So tell us Jeb, how do we word it nicely, asking that people quit fleecing us?
Should we take that nice tone when we talk about robbers too? How about burglars or car-jackers? I mean, where do we draw the line on this Jeb?
Bush also says this smart thing on the favorite tack taken by Republican tea partyists in opposing Pres. Obama: This smart thing? It's not a smart thing.
Socialism is pejorative in America, so people stop listening. People are tired of it. That word wont stick. Its a turnoff. It doesnt help. God, it's just so blatantly obvious we only have one party in this nation. Jeb can't even grasp that the tax revolt is a solid effort. We have these two leftists sitting there pretending to want the best for Conservatism, using every talking point in the Democrat play book to get what they want.
This is a very good example of institutionalized propaganda. It's just rampant up and down the leadership rosters of both parties, with very few exceptions.
This sounds for all the world like two old Politburo hacks disseminating the party line to the powerless masses, over Radio Moscow.
We really are living in the twilight between what we used to be and the U.S.S.R. And you do know what that second "S" stands for right Jeb?

Jeb Bush is probably the most intelligent, astute politician out there right now after Newt Gingrich. Unfortunately, his last name is Bush and I wish it weren’t. He made a great Fla. governor. I know what he’s talking about. There has to be a way to stop alienating the fastest growing minority in the nation without compromising our principles. It’s the attitude, the way things are said. I think Jeb is just pointing that out. If we just break even on the Hispanic vote, we win. Hispanics are hard workers, they lean conservative on abortion, etc. Send as many home as you can find but don’t get on stage and berate an entire race of people. It gets us nowhere.

It has to be dispassionate, the language. But it hasnt been. This is correct. It doesn't help that some of the strongest voices in the anti-illegal-immigrant debate actually ARE against all immigration, and regularly talk about the problems of having to deal with spanish-speaking people.
It makes it hard for people who oppose illegal immigration but don't mind controlled legal immigration to get the message out.

It makes no difference if it is the truth or not, if a word tends to make people stop listening to you, it’s not very useful if you are trying to persuade those people.
If you describe instead exactly what the democrats are doing, people become horrified and want to act. They will do so because of what they then know is happening, and it won’t make a bit of difference what you call it.
Just explain how the Democrat cap-and-trade bill forces homeowners to make expensive and unnecessary improvements to their house if they want to sell it or do anything that requires a building permit. I heard two ordinary housewives discussing this, and they were livid — neither were political, but they understood that they weren’t getting new kitchen cabinets because of the Democrats.

By refusing to use the word ILLEGAL, you are part of the problem. Hmmm. Tommy T objected to very legal and American Miami for "looking third world." Not a word about illegal.
Why do you think so many Hispanic American citizens who voted Republican in 2000 and 2004 didn't in 2006 and 2008??? Just imagining things???

During the 1990s Jack Kemp, William Bennett, and Jeb Bush condemned Californian Republicans for backing Prop 187. Passed by 60%, it directed that legal residents only get citizen benefits.
Bowing to the Kemp, Bennett, and Bush B.S. the Californian Republican leadership decided to be nicer.
Excluding movie star Arnold (with the Kennedy family wife), how many statewide offices have the Republicans won since? Two? They had insurance commissioner a couple of times and that's it, I believe.

People usually resort to name calling when they run out of arguments.
Sinister? I kinda like that. Might intimidate my competition.

“Naive” is bad enough. McC never stopped pushing amnesty when running for POTUS.

I am not a member of a famous family.
I don’t want the Mexicans here, either.
They are intruding- they are not ‘emigrating’.

Jeb, this is NOT about “hating Hispanics”.
Are ALL you Bushes so DUMB, or are you deliberately spinning?
Jeb, this is about ILLEGAL ALIENS regardless of where they come from. UNFORTUNATELY, due to your clown brother's FAILURE to honor his presidential oath, MOST of them appear to be coming from South or Central America or Mexico, PARTICULARLY the latter!
YES, the GOP needs to reach out to Hispanic-American voters.
That's Hispanic-AMERICAN voters, not to illegal aliens who sneaked across the border without paying their fare and following our laws.
But the GOP ALSO has to reach out to OTHER people TOO. Like Black Americans, like disenfranchised CONSERVATIVE Americans, to TAX PAYING AMERICANS sick of carrying the fiscal burden of elected nitwits in Congress.
PERSONALLY, JEB, I wish YOU and all the other damned idiots in the left wing of the GOP joined Spector and took a HIKE. The SOONER the BETTER. By the way, take Colon Powell, Mike Bloomberg, John McCain, Susan Collins, Governor Crist, Olympia Snowe and Lindsey Graham WITH you!!!

...if the GOP is to rise again, it has to stop hating on Hispanics or at least it has to stop appearing to be hating on Hispanics! Lindsay Graham called us bigots.
John McCain said we're xenophobes.
Now, Jeb Bush says we're racist haters.
I say that all these Republicans(!) have a criminal disregard for the rule of law, an underlying disrespect for the nation's sovereignty and apparently place little value on American citizenship.
Otherwise, they wouldn't be in favor of selling it so cheaply to illegal aliens.
The Democrats in favor of amnesty I understand -- they're cynically after what they believe will be millions of new voters.
But what is it with these people, who seem not to have a clue about the very legitimate concerns of most Americans?
