Who do you favor for President?
I don’t say I don’t like her, but I will say that I just don’t think she’s presidental material. (plus, the whole “we should consider going to war with Russia over Georgia” thing showed me how she was willing to tow the neo-con party line...or worse yet, she believes it herself. That turned me off to her).
Beyond that, yes, I think this episode hurt her...but she was damaged goods already. I think that nationally, she is utterly unelectable. I liked Dan Quayle, but could he possibly have gotten elected as President??
I would love to see the republican party nominate an actual, honest-to-goodness conservative as their presidential candidate (I don’t think it will happen anyway), but surely someone better could be chosen. Now, I am NOT a pragmatist. I’m the least pragmatic person on Freerepublic, I’m sure. Pragmatism is the devil that has led us to the sad state we are in now. Revolutions are not fought, much less won, by pragmatists, but I just think conservatives might need to hitch their wagons to a different horse.
Of the current crop of prominent Presidential possibles, I see NO ONE that I really like at all...and several I despise... DeMint might show some promise, but I’d have to research him more before I could say I would support him.
Unfortunately, principles do not win elections in America. Appearances do.
Now I'm no prophet either, and at this point I don't know what the future holds for Sarah, but I can at least give her the benefit of the doubt, and give her a chance to prove herself before making rash judgments and predictions based on what "so called" experts in the Beltway think.
I say to the Palin critics, try to at least give her a chance until the GOP primary debates. She has enough time until then to improve her debating skills and gain what ever extra knowledge she needs to present a clear, simple, conservative message that will wow and win over primary voters. If she defeats the other GOP candidates then we'll know she's ready to take on Obama and has a great chance of winning the White House. If she bombs or fizzles out during these debates, then we'll know for sure she's not ready for prime time and we can rally around the person who does win, because who ever wins the GOP primary debates will probably be our nominee, as long as Obama and Acorn can keep their stinking paws out of and off of our primaries.
