A new poll shows President Barack Obamas popularity in Virginia has slipped below 50 percent.
The Public Policy poll of 617 likely general election voters showed Obama with a 48 percent approval rating, which is within the polls margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.
The survey showed 46 percent disapproval and 6 percent not sure.
The opinion is highly polarized, the poll shows, with 95 percent of Democrats but only 9 percent of Republicans viewing him favorably. Fifty-two percent of independents disapprove of his performance with only 38 percent approving.
The poll was taken June 30 through July 2.

You don’t have to insult Carter like that. We are looking at something worse than a weak horse now.
We will be going to Virginia beach for our yearly vacation (The first time to Virginia) besides the beach are there any good restaurants, amusement parks or outlet malls???
Virginia isn’t the only place he’s slipping. You can rocket to superstar status but once you peak, you come down a heck of a lot faster than you went up.
The Macarena President...
This here statement sounds kind of stoopid, however. Are they quoting Cynthia McKinney?
I think the reality is sinking in. His national numbers are still ok (mid-fifties), but in purple states he is in really bad shape. The other poll showed him under 50% in Ohio.
Dem congresscritters from these states are no doubt aware of this, and will try to distance them of Obama.
I can’t see economy (=employment) rebounding in a significant way before mid-term elections so Obama is poison to dem candidates in Ohio, Virginia and other purple/red states. If this continue like this, I can see massive gains for GOP.
Sorry, I've never been to VA Beach, though it's only about a two hr drive away.
Monticello is in Charlottesville, approx an hr and a half NW of Richmond
Virginia Beach area (known as “Hampton Roads”) is home to Busch Gardens Europe, Water Country USA, and Ocean Breeze amusement parks, Colonial Williamsburg, Nautilus marine science museum, a Norfolk navy museum, Virginia Aquarium & Marine Center, First Landing, Virginia Zoological Society,...
And you’ll find the malls no problem.
As a transplanted Yankee, I’m still finding Golden Corral buffets pretty awesome. I’m in Northern Virginia, though, and the ones up here aren’t as good.
and its only taken 6 months for the crap to be laid at his door. You own it now Obama, be careful what you wish for, sunshine.
Hussein is slipping in 50 states along with the Congress. Tsunami coming in 2010 and 2012.
He is going to make that that retarded SOB Carter look like George effin Washington.
Same in Ohio, Hannity and Kasich said tonight on the show. Under 50% and falling....
Are you in Ohio?
The Republican Party needs to become more liberal to attract voters.
Meaghan McCain should be the new spokesman for the party.
Carter wasn’t weak, he was evil. Still is.
Head south on Atlantic Avenue. Turn right before crossing the bridge at Rudees Inlet. Travel to Rudeeâs Inlet Restaurant. They have an outdoor veranda where you and your family can sit on large gliders and enjoy the marina over a cocktail and appetizers. Arrive for dinner by 5PM to get a good seat.
No piss, but I know Kasich and have family members there. I am SO glad he’s running for Gov.
I think the whole of the Midwest is very nervous about this cap and trade crap. Not just Ohio. I think the Dems were very foolish to ignore our concerns and I think it’s going to bite them bad in 2010.
If it does pass the Senate and we can vote these idiots out in 2010, can we repeal this bill?
Exactly what damage can we mitigate after these fools have had their turn? That’s really my concern.
“The Public Policy poll of 617 likely general election voters showed Obama with a 48 percent approval rating, which is within the polls margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent”
Nice to see my fellow Old Dominion residents are awakening from their kool-aid induced stupor. I hope it continues. One thing I’ve noticed on my 40-mile commute to and from Norfolk on I-64 — there are FAR, FAR fewer 0bama-supporting bumper stickers on vehicles now.
“Virginia Beach area (known as Hampton Roads) is home to Busch Gardens Europe, Water Country USA, and Ocean Breeze amusement parks, Colonial Williamsburg, Nautilus marine science museum, a Norfolk navy museum, Virginia Aquarium & Marine Center, First Landing, Virginia Zoological Society,...”
And Jamestown (first permanent English-speaking settlement), Yorktown (site of the final Brit surrender of the Revolutionary War), the USS Wisconsin (at Nauticus), Virginia War Museum and Mariners’ Museum.
Hampton Roads has it all!!

Now I can’t speak for the rest of Virginia but I can tell you in my neck of the woods, SW Mountains, he is not well liked.
All this proves is that VA is still full of racists. Don’t they know 0bama is the smartest person in the history of the world and is as great and wonderful as Jacko. /sarc.
You wanted him, you got him VA - and that goes for OH too.
I wonder how he’ll try to pull out of this. An economic recovery might help and inflation might not hurt if he can distract the already distracted populace away from his real agenda. I guess events could reverse things for him the way a crisis like 9/11 did, but that can only go so far if he’s a dedicated Carterite. Perhaps he’ll have cajol a bunch of militiamen and white separatists into buying sawed off shotguns.

obambi’s poll numbers going down low as Larry Sinclair’s books are getting bought up.

The SW mountains region isn’t the problem. The Northeast corner is and has been for quite some time.
>besides the beach are there any good restaurants, amusement parks or outlet malls???<
Yep. Head back west on I-64 toward Williamsburg and you’ll come to Busch Gardens and some great outlet malls.
Not only is the Fuhrer’s poll numbers headed for the sewer, he will be dragging Cognress (his allies) with him. It’s tsunami time.
The Messiah will challenge the GOP to stop listening to right-wing talk radio and work with him to find economic solutions. If the GOP balks, the Messiah will go on national tv and shame the GOP for wanting America to fail.
I agree. It’s one of those “The Rise and Fall” things.
They know he is a liar.
All the people will go to the polls in 2010 and ANY republican on the ticket will get their vote.
No more one party rule.
It’s probably in the bank. But will he get his way?
Now wait just a daggone minute........Accomack County is the northeast corner of Virginia and we went for Palin (I mean McCain).....
Just joshin' with ya --- I know you mean NoVA but to tell truth it really bites when people automatically assume NE VA means the DC suburbs and totally forget us hicks on the Eastern Shore (aka God's Country)
Unless both the Senate and the house changes hands (and the Senate with a 60 R majority, unlikely) it would next to impossible to reverse much of this stuff before 2012. It needs to be stopped now if possible.
I think that there is only so much that Obama can do to hurt the Republicans that the Republicans aren’t already doing to themselves. Obama can of course try to undermine our democracy further by turning the entire country into Chicago, but only if Republicans do nothing and the country by and large doesn’t care.
The Vanilla Ice POtuS?
Are you from SW VA? Love that area, I have business out there but I rarely get there for distance reasons. I still go out of my way to run my Pontiac from Walkers Place to rt 19. Someday I will take my modded Opel out there. If you know someone in the car business out there I may know them...
LOL!!! That’s why I said I was just kidding, I knew exactly what you meant and I totally agree with you.
We have our fair share of that type mentality on the Shore, and I say that as someone who has only lived here 6 years after 21 years of living in Delaware -— where I moved to when from New York City at the age of 22 :)
I can truly say I understand the “resentment” over the northeast liberal invasion — it’s part of the reason we left Delaware for Virginia.
Rudee’s Inlet is a great suggestion. I forget the name of the restaurant but the upscale restaurant in the Hilton (by the statue of Neptune) is very nice. Pricey and snooty, but very nice.
We’re fond of the Virginia Marine Science Center.
Nauticus in Norfolk is great.
