The Republican candidate for governor of Virginia indicated that he remains open to having Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, campaign for him -- but said no plans for such an event are in the works.
Bob McDonnell, R-Va., said on ABCNews.com's "Top Line" today that he doesn't know yet whether Palin will campaign on his behalf in Virginia -- reiterating his official campaign stance.
"I don't know how this recent announcement -- which I still don't fully understand, I only know what I've read in the media -- how that fully plays out, and whether she's going to just prefer a private life or whether she still wants to stay actively involved," McDonnell said. "I think she was -- she added a lot of enthusiasm to the Republican ticket with John McCain last year. I think she'll stay a voice in national politics to some degree. But we're welcoming people from around the country that want to help us raise money and help us campaign on reform minded ideas to come to Virginia, Republicans and Democrats."
Asked whether he'd welcome her presence on the trail, McDonnell responded: "I think she'd be a good spokesman. She's a successful governor in Alaska. She's a popular governor in Alaska. Got a lot of things done on taxes and regulations, and ethics. And those are some of the things that I'm interested in getting done here in Virginia."

Palin PING!
Anyone on or off the Palin ping, write me.
She is going to get so many offers. She is going to have to be very careful and only pick the most conservative candidates. Hopefully she does not campaign for any RINOS...I know she won’t.
-
Sarah, please don’t go campaign for Crist or any other RINO’s.
What do you call McCain? He's a RINO. But one of the few really good things he did do was to pick Sara as a running mate. That and come out within HOURS of the VA Tech shooting in favor of ccw and the 2nd Amendment. That took guts for any politician with the blood still fresh.
It is starting! Woo Hoo!!!
I expect that Rudy will welcome her help also.
Don’t be silly. Sarah will not campaign for a dirt bag like crissy. My hope is she DOES campain for Rubio.
Reagan campaigned for all, I think she should too. Having Senator Simmons from Connecticut would not be perfect but would be MUCH better than Senator Dodd.
Uh oh, he called Palin a ‘spokesman’. How long before the feminists and the left come out and label him a sexist?
A, I hope Sarah campaigns for McDonnell in Virginia, PING!
Sarah, even though McCain introduced you to us, do not support that fleebag. He has knifed Arizonan’s more than once and must be taken out by a reputable Republican in the primary.
i.e.
J D Hayworth
John Shadegg
I hope the RINOs have the decency to not ask.
McCain picked Sarah precisely because he is quite aware of his RINO condition, thus had to counteract that by choosing the true conservative Sarah Palin.
She’s welcome to campaign for Pat Toomey here in PA, if he runs against turncoat Specter.

But not as good as Senator Caligiuri from CT.
I wonder if she’ll even get involved in the primaries.
She may not want to come across like an outsider interfering with local matters. We’ll see.
