Growing numbers at anti-tax 'tea parties' shows a fed up public

When historians track the beginnings of the second American Revolution, their search will take them to Morristown, N.J., just like the first time.

And like the first, it will have started with a tax revolt, and anger at an unresponsive government

Something is happening in this country. And it would be not only arrogant, but unwise, for our elected officials to ignore it.

In the past, movements like the July 4 national Tea Parties were usually sparsely populated by libertarians, radicals and reactionaries. This movement has them too, but with a whole lot more regular folks. The crowd Saturday at Morristown Green was sizable and made up of the put-upon American middle class. Instead of pitchforks and muskets, they were armed with signs, that if nothing else, show many still believe in the visions of the Founding Fathers.

Having a couple thousand here and there doesn’t draw much attention, especially while we are mourning the loss of one of our most famous pedophiles...we need to stop DC in its tracks. See you there on 9/12.

At our 4th parade, the Libertarians had a Tea Party float.

Sept 12 and 13, the missus and I will be on the firing line at the CDA Appleseed event. Can’t afford the time or travel cost to get to DC. Ramping up rifleman’s skills is the next best thing...

It’s not just about taxes, it’s about SPENDING.

it would be not only arrogant, but unwise, for our elected officials to ignore it.

But because our elected officials are both . . . they will . . . until it's too late for them.

Olbermann was ranting (again) about how tea-party goers are a bunch of racist Nazis and that garofalo was right to trash them, so the tea parties must be bothering the left.

"When historians track the beginnings of the second American Revolution, their search will take them to Morristown, N.J.,"

They noticed, but they think it's isolated to N.J., they're completely oblivious to what is going on in the rest of the country.

There was a good turnout at the one I attended on the 4th, despite the rain. These were just normal people. I talked to a few who said the same—that they have never been “activists” but felt they have to start doing something to change the direction we are heading in. It was very encouraging....A sleeping giant is awakening.

Well, today is the 7th, and I've seen one story on the 4th tea parties on one station, Fox News. That was on Hanity, I think. Nothing, nada, on regular news. All Mikey all the time, I guess is more important than showing hundreds of thousands in the streets nation wide.

It’s not just about taxes, it’s about SPENDING.

Most TEA Party attendees understand this. "Taxed Enough Already" means that the current level of taxation is sufficient to cover appropriate spending. Inappropriate spending needs to be eliminated.

I thought that the last tea parties were much more representaive of the American People. I did not see hardly any coverage at all even on Fox News. The last time there was a lot of coverage. Yes some of it was negative, but it least it was coverage.

Don’t know when The Star-Ledger showed up at the Morristown Tea Party last Saturday but the police estimated 4,000 in attendence, NOT 2,000.

Yes the Tea Partiers understand this, but those watching do not. Very, very, very bad marketing.

You’re just looking at the MSM spin, and thinking that everyone will fall for it. There are millions of people who understand what the TEA parties are about, and as the movement grows, that number will continue to expand.
