Obama's Agenda vs. Expanding Business
Realmoney ^ | July 6, 2009 | Jim Cramer

Posted on 07/06/2009 10:54:24 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Is it time to ask whether the Obama agenda could be hurting and not helping the business of this country. Does he have an anti-business bias or an agenda that gets translated into such a stance? [Here is a] list of what could be impeding the hiring of more people, the principal reason why we have been selling off.

1. Card check with forced arbitration. This pro-union position making it easier for workers to organize could lead to a dramatic expansion in union power. [...]

2. Tax on health benefits. This is a tough one because it could really crimp earnings of the everyday worker who needs to spend more not less to get us out of this.

3. The GM and Chrysler bankruptcies. A pattern is developing -- when businesses fail, the government and unions end up owning them. Any corporate bond-holder has to factor in this confiscation, even though you could easily argue that the government had to take ownership here or they would have been liquidated, causing gigantic job loss.

4. The EPA carbon dioxide rules. These will kill many small businesses by causing them to have to spend big money to comply. [...]

5. Repeal of Bush tax cuts. Killing the 15% tax on dividends will further hurt savers who get nothing on CDs now. [...]

6. Taxes on foreign earnings of U.S. corporations. This is in addition to arbitrary rules the government wants to implement on costs in the U.S. supporting foreign operations. [...]

7. Softer immigration prosecution. For example, what we saw with American Apparel (AAP) last week. No roundups, just fines. That will encourage illegal immigration and take jobs away from existing populace.

With this litany, it is easy to understand how business in this country could be skittish ...

Consider that 0bama never had a private sector job. He’s never done anything but extort money from the private sector. The guy who scratches his head in wonder about whether 0bama has an agenda against private business, like this Cramer guy, is really just not too bright. I’ll bet the “connect the dots” pictures he drew as a kid didn’t turn out too well.

most business I know of is expanding.........right into the underground economy. Even doctors and lawyers take cash these days. Dry cleaners too! The way things are going, I’ll bet truck trailer hijacking crime will make a big comeback.

I think we may see a repeat of 1937-1940 when FDR caused a depression within the Great Depression.

The Wagner Act kicked in, resulting in rapid unionization with much higher wages but without increasing corporate profits.

Business in general did not know where FDR was going to strike next and was reluctant to risk capital.
