Bashing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is sport for many journalists, particularly those who are perhaps bored by the summer doldrums.
"She is by far the best-looking woman ever to rise to such heights in national politics, the first indisputably fertile female to dare to dance with the big dogs," writes Todd Purdum in the August issue of Vanity Fair.
He coins the term "polar disorder," concluding that Mrs. Palin is surrounded by "clouds of tabloid conflict and controversy" and "has disappointed many of those who once had the highest hopes for her."
Yeah, yeah. Enough already. Mrs. Palin is not running for anything, she's been off the campaign trail for eight months and has been home managing the affairs of the 49th state.
"Purdum pulls down the black ski mask and whips out the sawed-off shotgun for this utterly predictable hit piece on Sarah Palin," says Tom Bevan of Real Clear Politics.
"To be clear, there are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and the elitist mainstream media's contract-killer journalism against political figures with whom they disagree which, more often than not means conservatives. Purdum's piece is an absolute classic of the genre, complete with a slew of juicy, negative quotes from insiders and a smoothly crafted narrative that demeans and diminishes Palin's accomplishments and portrays her as an ignorant white trash whack job," he adds.
Mr. Bevan is perplexed why Mr. Purdum and his magazine continue to display an "insatiable desire to destroy Sarah Palin." But things don't always work out as planned, he cautions. All this bashing could backfire.
"There's the very real possibility that this kind of piling on Palin by the elitist MSM will actually improve her image outside the New York-D.C. corridor and make people in flyover country like her more, not less,"

Well since the media has decided Obama’s off limits, they need someone to punch on....
What do you mean by that? That it is impossible? Or that it’s already the case?
This article reaffirms what is already evident: Palin’s critics in the media and elsewhere are mostly white leftists who are all too impressed with their own sophistication and moral relativism. You can add to that hodgepodge the twits who pride themselves in being feminist who don’t know how to deal with a pro-lifer whom they would consider a hero if she was pro-abortion and a Democrat. But we could also include in the mix, the Ivy League Republicans who apparently think the heartland should shut up, vote a straight Republicrat ticket and leave the thinking and law-giving to the Harvard and Yale grads...IN 2012, WOULD SARAH PALIN DELIGHT in standing toe-to-toe with a POTUS still unweaned from his teleprompter? You BETCHA!... NOTE TO THE LEFT: PLEASE pray for a scandal that, like Becket’s Godot, will never come. YES! I’d keep loving to hate her if I was you. PERCOLATE as much steaming hot invective as you can muster. Will your hate speech consolidate and broaden Palin’s base? You BETCHA! :)
Also they are realizing as the weekend is coming to an end is that yahoos and hicks in flyover country and the Bible belt didn’t buy the argument that Sarah has committed hara kiri or is completely washed up by acting like a crazy person.

I am not dissappointed with Sarah Palin, but I sure am disgusted with those who continue to attack her.
I see problems with Palin for sure, but when I watch people like Mitchell I wonder about demonic posession.
I think you and the article writer are correct. All this invective and attack is as likely to enhance Palin as destroy her.
Mitchell went all the way to Alaska to trash Palin? Wow the news media is deranged. To bad Mitchell won’t spend time reporting on how bad Obamas stimulus package is hurting the country. That would be real news and not some tabloid type gossip.
I hope a polar bear turns Andrea Mitchell into his own personal chew toy. What a low rent, biased, moonbat b*tch.
Really? How many do you think she owns? /sarc>
Full Disclosure: from the comedy team Puke and Snot:
Puke: (points at Snot's head): Just how many people are in there with you anyway?
Snot: I dunno, but they didn't pay to get in.
(RIP Snot).
The so-called Palin negatives in the AP story in my local paper this morning were alleged without one named attribution. And to think I once wanted to be a member of the “Fifth Estate”. It is now totally and unabashedly a propaganda organ for the left.
Fox is somewhat better than the rest of the pack, but not by much. Murdocks’ only allegiance is to making money. In pursuit of it he prints or airs anything that attracts viewers. Facts and good reporting are not necessarily required.
Amazing that critics (from both parties) only see Sarah’s decision through the political ambition prism. I think there’s FAR more at work here... like a desire tell the conservative side of the story in order to help the nation turn back from the disastrous direction it’s been taking of late.
You’re at least hinting at the real reason they hate her.
The “world” and “the ways of God” are in diametric and violent opposition.
The left are the epitome of “friends of the world” and enemies of God. (James 4:4)
In Mitchel's case, that would be a skank missile attack.
Well said!
So called Republican pollster Frank Luntz chimed in agreement with them to no surprise (Luntz is a total lib always has been) spent the better part of the last 10 years over at NBC.
The biggest joke of the day at Fox was there Opinion Dynamics poll done by liberals from somewhere in Manchester.. Shows Rudy on top and Sarah on bottom...what a joke
Another Wash Times writer trashed Sarah over the weekend on CNN...Carpenter is her name I believe.
Gretchen Carlson went slutty on Sarah this morning. Brian disappointed also. Steve is away
“Gretchen Carlson went slutty”
I missed it, what do you mean?
Because most politicians don't care a whit about wasting tax payer money on anything.
That was what I saw when she first came on the scene -
the “minions” went NUTS (and still are wailing and gnashing).
I don't know what that means but Gretchen is not the brightest bulb on FNC.
Gretchen piled on is what I meant.
I am fond of Gretchen, it is disappointing that she would do this. Palin deserves respect and people show their true colors when her name is mentioned. I like knowing where people stand and am unlikely to forget those who pile on.
I used to watch Fox and Friends (F&F))regularly. Don’t do it any more. I always thought Steve Doocy was smartest of all those who’ve been on F&F.
Apparently Palin makes a lot of the right people uncomfortable. By that I mean Demrats and their RINO puppets. Also, the media because she refuses to play by its rules.
In any case, I think we’re gonna see a concerted and orchestrated campaign by Dems, RINOs and media to make this woman over into the devil incarnate. Heck, they’re still trying to make the baseless ethics allegations, of which she was never formally charged, into something. And if I hear the “she wasn’t ready to be president” mantra and the nonsense about her campaign wardrobe one more time I’m gonna vomit.
I think it’s good that she’s moving on from the Alaska governorship. She had accomplished about as much as she could there. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if both the Alaskan GOP and Demrats were setting her up for as much bad news—mostly manufactured—as could be generated to derail her presidential aspirations.
By resigning she denied them that arena. Also, she leaves the state in fairly good fiscal condition—compared to most other states. I think, too, that resigning the governorship gives her more freedom to speak her mind to a wider audience. I find it amusing now that the media has set her up as a stalking horse, it must stalk (cover) her whether it wants to or not.
