Are you familiar with what happens in countries where oil profits are controlled by either the state and/or large corporations. Try these names on for size: Nigeria, Saudia Arabia, Mexico, Russia, Venezuela. After rolling those names around in your brain for awhile - let me know what you think they have in common.

Once you have figured out the answer, then you may see why disbursing oil profits directly to the citizenry is a good idea.

If large corporations do the grunt work of obtaining the resources, they deserve the profits thereof. Redistribution of wealth is hardly a conservative concept.
