Manuel Zelaya, the president of Honduras ousted in a coup, is attempting to fly home from Washington and reclaim his office, sparking clashes between his supporters and the security forces which have led to at least one death.

At least one person was killed and several were injured as soldiers opened fire and let off tear gas rounds after at least 10,000 supporters of the Leftist leader descended on the airport outside the capital, Tegucigalpa.

As his supporters mobbed the airport, soldiers were deployed en masse. Violent confrontations then erupted along the perimeter fence. As demonstrators tried to rip down the fence, police fired tear gas and came under attack from a hail of stones. Shots then rang out and at least one young man was killed, shot in the head, according to several witnesses.

You are right, there was no coup though even FNC insists on incorrectly calling it that.

OK, in answer to my own question, went to Drudge and, not only was the plane “directed” to Costa Rica, it actually WENT there!

Shoot the damned plane out of the sky and open fire on the communists at the airport. This would not make us as bad as the mullahs in Tehran. In the one case, someone is imposing tyranny and slavery on society. In the other, someone is saving society from it. Huge difference.

This IMO is a dress reheasal for what FUBO plans for us. The sooner this wanna be despot is removed from office the betterour chances of do it. Also IMO if we wait four years we won’t be able to remove FUBO without serious and drastic means ...we are in SERIOUS trouble

Sorry, did not read your question. There were not allowed to land in Honduras. So they landed nearby and my guess is the ousted Presidente will marshal ground forces along the border. Nicaragua is moving troops to the border.

How did the flight plan get approved? Either our State Dept. is disastrously inept or this is Obama meddling??

question:
Wouldn't it be better to let him land and arrest him for returning? Put him on trial for the crimes he committed during the last election?

Apparently the Hondurans believe that allowing him to return will led to many deaths. In other words, they really don't want to kill the leftist supporting the coup attempt by Zelaya.

At this point the Honduras congress should back the Supreme court decision by giving their official impeachment and an official agreement with the supreme court rulings.

more of a vote of confidence in their supreme court then actually an official impeachment because he is already out of office legally.

This seems a wise thing to do. The current Honduran govt needs to tell the world that they have made a constitutional decision, taken a constitutional action and shoving a legally removed leader back down their throats will not be tolerated.

They have done this to a certain extent but somehow they need to make an even stronger stand than they have. Show that the govt is united. Of course, violence from outside the borders could erupt. They need to be ready to defend that govt, too.

all these articles say basically the same thing.
“The Leftist leader had urged his followers, mainly among unions and peasant groups, to greet his return. “
Sounds like the democratic party.

Many of the supporters were paid approx. US$150 to be present. They attacked police with shoving and stone throwing, they attacked a military installation.

The amazing thing is how the constitutional government handled the situation with a bare minimum of violence. They did an admirable job, and need to stay alert for more.

Zelaya was NOT removed by a coup.

...but if the state-owned MSM repeats the lie often enough, it will become the truth.

Erupts into violence?

Barry, question: Is this violence in Honduras over the return of Zelaya a “robust debate” or “low level terrorism”?

=.=
