Agreed. Roddick seems to be doing better, from an overall standpoint. I couldn’t believe a 137 mph serve. I’d be running for the bleachers.

Grassley sounds adamantly opposed to the public option in health care.

Those who are of a mind might do some good by emailing the old coot support for this.

As if Rove knows what she is attempting to accomplish. Putz.

Rove's guy won his two elections during a time when the Clintons were still strong enough to sabotage their own party.

Similar to 2008, 2012 is different and Rove should not discuss what he doesn't understand.

Gov Sarah Palin is that clean Breath of Alaskan air that is foreign to the smog gaspers in DC and just can’t handle. No, they are so used to inhaling the smoke they’re choking down like it is for everyone. Well America knows when they see the real thing and long to taste that cool breeze. We don’t like the slick rehearsed bilge but prefer common sense and American values. That is why the Libs hate politicians like Reagan, Bush, Thatcher or Truman since they don’t have complex answers trying to message their lies. No, the Palins of the World just tell you what they think from the hip and let the PC ninnies feign outrage.

Gov Palin irritated the ruling class of elitists both left and right when she said she didn’t care what they thought. That stuck her in the class of Bush/Reagan since she clearly embarrassed the Chablis sipping Republican avant guard. These so called conservatives who live in either DC or the Upper East Side claim to be conservative yet attend all the A list parties, don’t want to have to explain Gov Palin to their smug friends. They have to try to explain what it is to hunt or fish as well as tell their friends that there is somewhere besides the NE corridor. No these conservatives are more like Hilary than Sarah. Their idea of camping is having the windows open at the Hamptons, where they call fishbait; Sushi.

Most Conservatives who are unashamed pro-life, hunting, fishing, drilling for oil, raging heterosexual hayseeds; enjoy leaders who have backbones. We love Gov Palin as well as heroes who will sacrifice their freedom for ours and don’t need some sweet talking metrofag telling us why we should be ashamed of our Country. No we love our wives, families and Country just like Gov Palin. We respect and thank her for the fact that she is willing to risk her son for her Country. That is a sharp stick in the eye of the Cut&RunocRats. She’s not bitter that she’s an attractive woman and is wise enough to know what a gift that is. She is us and we are her.

Gov Palin is a leader in the mold of Harry Truman, willing to go after corruption wherever that may be. She found Republican dirt in Anchorage and made sure it was eliminated and now she is ready to take that Columbo Overcoat to the District of Corruption. This is the rare breath of crystalline air America has lacked, making the Establishment nervous. Many of those elites know that if corruption is seriously rooted out, their friends could be in prison. So like always, DC circles the wagons, wanting to kill the calvary, which is their Stalincrat way.

The sad part is that some of our token conservatives like Georgie Will and Peggy Nooner are being tools for their liberal colleagues. You know, those Poopitsir Prize scribes who haven’t had an original idea in 20 yrs. They are the porch monkeys for the DNC as they turn their backs on Conservatism to be allowed on the veranda. These conservative Uncle Toms know that if they attack a Republican they get instant cred, a couple of back pats and an extra helping of brie. At least Judas got 40 pieces of silver.

Gov Sarah Palin has brought a freshness as well a fun ladylike charm to a Party that has been lacking for the last few decades. The femihags have told us that women can either be successful or have a family. Oh yeah, they reluctantly agreed that you could be a Hilary and have one child if it is raised by the state. They showed their true allegiance when they supported BJ and slutted every woman he assaulted. Gov Palin destroys feminism by being a happy wife, mother and Governor w/o nepotism. A self made woman in a manly man’s world was the feminag dream and now their worst nightmare. She makes the National Organization of Broads obsolete. So what if she doesn’t speak DC spin fluently. She ain’t there to woo the self-absorbed pundicRats.

Gov. Palin will drain the trough in the District of Corruption and root out the Hogs that caused this meltdown. Of course there will be resistance, but even though she’s hated by the usual enemies, as a woman she will be harder to attack politically. Unlike Obummer who is up to his feminine neck in corruption, deflecting his guilt like Jackie Chan some will stick. Sarah Palin and the Sheriff can throw these corrupt politicians behind bars although Dodd, Frank, Raines and Johnson would look good decorating some DC Lampposts. She can start naming the crooks now and give them a taste of what they are in store over the next 4 years. Then there will be an crisp Alaskan Breeze blowing over the gaseous swamp bringing a breath of fresh air from Foxy Lady Palin.

Pray for W, Gov Palin and Our Troops

I am really tired of media types asking a question then never challenging the answer.

On this one little thing, SgtMaj, you are wrong. IF it is a conservative/Republican, the media have no problem finding a followup question, and a followup to the followup, and a followup to the followed up followup....etc, etc...

What separation of church and state did LBJ do? We always supposedly had separation of church and state which is not the anti religion you see now but an appropriate separation so no religion is favored or established. LBJ to my memory didn’t do anything about that.

Congressman LBJ sponsored a bill which essentially stripped the churches of their freedom of speech by threatening their non-tax status if they got political.

1954 I believe.

Bulldozing inner cities and removing black men from the family structure was a real doozie too.

That's what I'm saying, our guys never backed him. As a matter of fact, they steered clear of him from that point on.

That is true, I can’t understand it either.

While that may be factually true as regards the actions and inactions of others, it is also irrelevant. Lott performed his own version of political hara-kiri all by himself.

There was no need for others to have to defend him. All he had to do was issue one statement to the effect, e.g. that "I made a simple, humorous compliment to an old colleague at a social gathering. The comment was a simple complimentary expression of friendship and honor for his long life of service to his country. There is nothing about it I need to explain, nor do I intend to do so. I will have no further comment."

Then, after making this statement, he should have just shut up, stuck to his guns, and gone back to work. It would have all blown over in a few days. It was the spectacle of Lott's abject hand-wringing apologies and stupid attempts to "explain" it that did him in, and he did it to himself.

With regards to the failure of others to step up and defend him, the noted ROP philosopher bin Laden expressed it well: "When people see a strong horse and a weak horse, they will naturally follow the strong horse."

When it became obvious Lott didn't have the strength and intelligence to defend himself properly, it is not reasonable to expect his fellow politicians, who are also cowards and incompetents, to risk their necks for him as well. This type of problem management, i.e. being unwilling or afraid to stand up to and face down opponents, is exactly what destroyed George Bush's presidency.

The GOP lost in ‘06 & ‘08 because people on the Right decided to “teach ‘em a lesson”.

Now, we have Pelosi, Reid and Obama.

####

And Norm Coleman lost because he was not “right” enough for too many Minnesota voters; now we have Senator Franken.

Well, everything is under “review” as is always the case with this administration.

####

Mullen could not have been more non-committal if he were being interrogated by enemy agents. Wow!

There are two words that this admin use over and over again, and are meant to cover all bases:

Comfortable, as in “I’m comfortable with the level of missile defense in Eastern Europe”

and

Concerned, as in “I’m concerned that NK is continuing to ignore the UN .... “

Maryland has been a test state for many of the attack methods of the New Left. We had a Republican governor (not too conservative - but we are a seriously Blue state) for 4 years. Both Dem-controlled Houses of the Legislature were not content with stymieing his every initiative, they developed ‘panels’ to attack his motives and his authority to do ANYTHING. The Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post were relentless in condemning his actions for the whole four years.

Now this method has gone National. Sarah has experienced it, and I am glad that she has told the voters of Alaska to do without her.

Did Wallace remind Hoyer that he, Pelosi, and Reid have been in charge of Congress for two and a half years?

The Republicans have had many opportunities to remind everyone of that fact, but prefer to assume the fetal position (while not attacking conservatives).

Coming in late today, due to family commitments.

My take on this is that Karl is a bit puzzled by this. It isn't a conventional move. Conventional, however, hasn't worked against the democrats.

I didn't find him particularly hateful towards her, just pointing out that there are disadvantages to doing this. And there are, but I think there are also a lot of advantages.

I sent him a Tweet pointing out that she would be able to galvanize the party if she wasn't tied down in Alaska, and that this might be a new way of campaigning.

Here is what he sent me in a personal Tweet:

Plenty of time for GOP to be galvanized and you may be right, it could be a different approach.

Therefore, I do not see him as her enemy. Rove has spent a lot of years perfecting his method of campaigning, which worked well for President Bush. But times are changing, the electorate is polarized, the media is totally in the Obama camp, and we have a thug presidency. Now it's time for something new.

The media and the pundits are either confused or (in the case of the liberals) in a complete panic. Whoever said "she's gone rogue" is exactly right. No one knows what to expect, and the democrats are in a frenzy over this.

My money is on Sarah. And I am enjoying every minute of this.

Put the song on You tube, then write your story so people can read it as the song plays. That story is so disgusting and you have far more control than I do. Had I been there with grandchildren I wouldn't have been able to hold back. The kisses at the house, maybe, the beach scenario, trust me, there would have been a scene and I wouldn't care who got mad.
I also couldn't have cared less who was mad at me because I would have been mad at them too. Shameful. I'm sure they put a damper on everyones 4th. The thing is, the beach scene, hands down the pants, I don't care if it's 2 snapper lappers or a man and a woman, not appropriate.

My nephew is gay, and has a long-term relationship with a very nice man.

They come to all of the family functions. No problems, as they do not do any demonstrative behavior so as far as the grandkids know, they are just good friends.

I appreciate this, and have no problem with them. In fact, they are always welcome in my home because they are funny and always bring great wine and fancy home made baked goods.

I am balancing a fine line here between my faith and my family, since this is my sister's son and we all love him. I pray for some sort of solution while welcoming them as cherished people.

This is how I think situations like this should be handled. I don't know what I would do in a situation like you were faced with. Very unfortunate, and dare I say...TACKY?

That’s all that matters, the bottom line right?

Should I post the 15 states with voter fraud allegations and convictions, videos of those who admitted they voted several times, states who had more voters than registered, emails from left blogs on going to other states they could get licenses in 30 days, hence vote again, voter intimidation at inner-city polls during their primaries (black on black), the video of the DNC/RBC showtrial in which he received half in one and a big percentage in the other state where he wasn’t on the ballot (including previously thrown out ballots), union strongarming before and at the polls, the videos of the ACORN 8 (as well as illegal donor list stumping by the non profit to those who maxed out for laundering) and clips of workers on self admitted voter reg fraud, workers inside polling places, those who worked the polls who told of their fraud, vids from CNN and others as they waited for known corrupt counties to come in, the illegal foreign donations of 200 bucks at up to 20 times a day from same jibberish named donors, the diaper donors stories out of Chicago, the cutthroat cheating done when he ran on the southside and unheard of same-day voting set-ups at universities and other sites, vids of buses of voters from other states coming to vote or my own experiences at the polls re: illegal voters...

BTW, did the FEC, which knew of all the non-reporting of information on high-end domestic and foreign donors, as well as all safeguards cut off re: campaign site ever investigated?

He killed the process...

I guess you watched the MSM during the run instead of watching the states and the blatant disregard of election laws.
