Good morning, Alas!
Same old, same old.
Will the Palin obsession be on display.
WE WANT SARAH!!!!!
While I hope that there is more discussion of the June 30 milestone with US troops in Iraq, even Palin Derangement Syndrome would be a welcome diversion from Michael Jackson's latest career move.
morning everyone!
A dynamic that I have not heard discussed is the possible willingness of the locals to give up more insurgents since they will now be perceived as working with the Iraqi security forces and no longer with the US military. Over here symbolism and appearances are important especially as it relates to associating with Americans.
I’m guessing that since the pull back from the cities in Iraq by U.S. forces is a good news story...the media will either ignore it completely or give it a passing glance.
Just like they did with the surge and it’s success.
Today will be all about PDS.
Morning AB and thanks once again for the thread.
Boehner should be interesting. He has been a stalwart conservative on our side, especially lately.
I was trying to find the local news last night - for info about our tea party. I caught the last bit of abc news - steffi is in Iraq with Joe.
With the holiday weekend, I wonder if the shows were taped BEFORE Sarah’s announcement? If so, little if any Sarah comments.
Keep your eyes open, bean_counter. Biden has telegraphed that, if there is an uptick in violence in the country, we will have to rethink our presence in the country.
This signal to al-Qaeda and Iran could not be more clear.
The “news” has become nothing about imparting information, and all about speculating about things they can’t actually know anything about.
If Sarah Palin is as stupid and incompetent as you portray her, isn't Alaska better off if she leaves? So, what's your problem, eh?
More lunacy from Joe "Carve the Country Up" Biden.
Either way Sarah will be the topic and all the old school rinos and supposed conservatives who think it's just the end of the world that she quit 14 months 7 days 5 hours 32 minutes and 16 seconds before the end of her term.
I say the hell with them all.
Sarah did the reputable, ethical thing by resigning IMHO.
Most Senators, Governors and House Reps. routinely run for other offices while holding another. What happens to the office they hold while they run? It generally goes down the tubes.
Sarah is not willing to do that to her home state of Alaska which she loves and respects. I say lets respect her decision.
Why didn’t he just send them a hand written invitation on WH stationary?
That was my thought as well. I remember when W would not take his pay as governor when he was campaigning for President. How many others have done that?
I'll be listening for comments of "Quitting". IIRC, a certain Illinois senator announced his run for President after "serving" ~ 100 days and rarely spent any time in DC. He chose to quit serving as a senator yet no media called him on it as they are doing to Sarah.
My point is that the media is so knee jerk in their reaction to this, they contradict the perception they attempted to make to this point.
Dam few, that puts Sarah and GW in a set of their own.
People who actually care about the job they are doing instead of just using it for political and other gains.
Rove, on FNS, really bashing Sarah. No surprise coming from a RINO LA Raza supporter.
Morning to you and all Freepers.
Wimbledon tennis versus same old, same old? I’ll catch FNS later today and read the insightful comments here for now.
It is disheartening to keep fighting over cap & trade or national health care when the real issue is freedom, liberty and our market economy all under attack by statists who are after power and money. It makes one wonder what part of “life, liberty and property” the Democrats don’t understand?
If even part of Trends Research is true, we’re in for a rough ride.
http://www.trendsresearch.com/institut.htm
Talking her move is risky business.
This is the part that they just don't get. She does, and so do I.
As if Rove knows what she is attempting to accomplish. Putz.
Can’t someone have an opinion about Palin’s resignation that is different from yours or anybody else’s? Without calling him names.
There is room for debate about whether she did the right thing or the wrong thing politically. For her personally she obviously did the right thing in my opinion but politically? I don’t know.
Only time will tell but bashing everyone who dares to question your opinion is not a wise thing if you ask me.
Heh. It's always been so. News publication was never about "informing." It's about manipulation and "conforming." So-called "news" is nothing but a thinly-disguised propaganda effort to form public opinion, not inform public debate.
Granted, there are tidbits of information in the reporting, but never complete information, and nearly always in a wrapper of misdirection and erroneous conclusion.
Therefore, Governor Palin will:
Move to Wisconsin.
Write books.
Give speeches.
Travel the country helping get conservatives elected (build alliances).
Travel internationally and meet with foreign dignitaries.
Maybe do some TV commentary.
Become President Of The United States.
Here's some reasons I listed yesterday why Sarah may have decided to leave early. How many jobs can she fulfill at once without letting many important things go?
1. Sarah has a new baby with downs syndrome, other needy children and one child a 17 years old with a baby of her own who is being savaged as much by the press as she is. Being a mom to her family is at least a part time job if not full time.
2.She just got a rumored book deal in the 7 figure range or even higher so she has a book to write.
3. She as a pac and her fund raising duties alone will be mammoth.
Remember zero has had about a year now to raise money and raised almost a billion bucks during his campaign and now has the entire U.S. Treasury at his disposal and he will and already has used every dime he can to buy votes with!! How the hell is any candidate on our side supposed to counter that kind of fund raising. It is a mammoth job!
4. She will now be free to give speeches and finally make the money she deserves. This clears her from any supposed impropriety that almost every other elected official with an "r" behind their name has.
Are they taking govt. money while campaigning or doing personal business. She won't have that taint for some time. Giving speeches and helping others run for office is also a major job which she now will make time for.
If anything I support Sarah Palin more now than before and IMHO she deserves all of our unconditional support.
It's Palin v. Establishment. And there is no doubt that the GOP is heavily invested in the Establishment. Enough of the old "Frick vs. Frack" show!
FNS
[chuckle]
Poor Huck.
He had it so rough as governor, much worse than Palin (per him).
Poor Thang — his sob story brought a tear to my eye.
Well put, Cboldt, as usual.
If memory serves...wasn’t Reagan given this same kind of treatment before he was finally embraced by the GOP?
I think the $2 million cost to Alaska and another $500,000 to Palin to fight 18 fake ethics complaints had something to do with her resigning. This frees her up to promote her book and campaign for Republicans this coming year.
The Democrats, and Maureen Dowd, are aghast over loosing their target for their hatred. I won’t be surprised if Sarah becomes much more aggressive against both the media and the Democrats (especially zero) from now on.
Cheer up.
And have some squirrel jerky.
FNS
[another chuckle]
FNS runs a clip of Obama saying “we need to move forward, in a different direction.”
==
What?
So, what direction is forward actually in?
It would also free her from the laws governing how much you can make on personal appearance trips etc wouldn’t it?
Add Bob Dole to that list.
Wisconsin?
Huckabee...
If that hoser is a Republican, I’m now and evermore a da** Klingon.
I am ten times more jazzed about this move of hers than I was when McCain named her as running mate. She has improved her chances of reaching her potential, whatever that may be, and wherever circumstances and her choices take her. I detest McCain.
Clearly, she's a "political animal," and I sure don't sense any intention to retreat to home-base to defend only family.
The huckster needs a good beating just so he’ll know what a good beating feels like.
“a welcome diversion from Michael Jackson’s latest career move. “
LOL!
