The irony of course is the original Shia’s eventually got what they wanted in the first place, Ali (the son in law of the Prophet) as Kalif.

So they really have nothing to stand on 1400 years later

Sunni Muslims see Jews and Christians as dhimminis to be ruled over and pay the jizya tax or converted to Islam. We have a purpose in their eyes, even if that purpose is slavery.
Sunnis see shiites as heretics, and this pisses off the shiites to no end because they put soo much stock in tracing their heritage back to Muhammads family. The Sunnis believed in capability (Muslim leaders should be elected from a pool of proven conservatives) and the Shiites believed in bloodlines when handing down political power and is still used today in the Muslim nations depending on which sect is majority.
