Exactly.

No matter what their reasons, I would have thought the Saudis would not wanna be on record (officially or otherwise) agreeing to an Israeli raid.

To give Iran one more chance to back down and negotiate.

Iran will be forced to fight back will Hez. and hamas. It will be ugly.

Going the extra mile for peace sits well with the Almighty, I believe.

Quite ethical. You should warn someone to stop before shooting, and having the nod from the Saudis shows that Iran does not have approval of all Arab nations. If I were Syria, Iraq, and Jordan, I would also be nervous if Iran should want to wipe Israel off the map because of location.

Also, Israel needs to become stronger in the eyes of her neighbors since they no longer have an ally in the White House.

"Saudis give nod to Israeli raid on Iran"

Well this is no secret. Anyone who understands the ME knows it isn't Israel that is the main objective of a nuclear Iran. It's control over the entire ME and it's oil fields, that is the goal. Control that, and you control Europe, and plenty of Asia as well. Putin isn't working behind the scenes propping up Iran and those other "Stan" nations for nothing.

In biblical terms, it's the rise of the fourth and final Persian Empire

This is surreal. What would be the motivation for making this public?

This gives the Iranians justification for a first strike, both against Israel AND Saudi Arabia (both of which they want badly). Therefore Israel must make the first aggressive action and Saudi Arabia must demonstrate Muslim solidarity (thus possibly giving them justification in back-stabbing the Israelis should they take the bait). Meanwhile, it allows the West to wash their hands of the consequences no matter what happens.

Any further questions?

Looks to me like Barry Chamish could end up being vindicated, albeit not in the exact manner he predicted.

Israeli submarine crosses Suez Canal with eye on Iran

Times of India ^ | 7/4/09
An Israeli submarine crossed through the Suez Canal last month as a part of a military training exercise, defense officials said on Saturday. The move is believed to have been made as a warning to Iran of the Jewish state’s capabilities and and to show that Israel and Egypt, are cooperating against a shared threat. The two countries share a peace agreement but have had cool relations for years. By using the Suez, an Israeli submarine could reach the Persian Gulf off Iran in a matter of days, compared wiith weeks to sail around the southern tip of Africa. The...

Why, to quash it, of course -- as the wets reflexively do, in any situation like that in which Ronald Reagan once dubbed Margaret Thatcher, for her indomitable dryness, "the best man in Europe."

Here the wets limply toss their damp squibs and squishy leaks to The Times in an attempt to prevent any improvement of world affairs.

I think this is much more a message to Hussein than the Iranians. I suspect the Iranians are aware that the Saudis don’t want them with the bomb. I don’t believe the Iranians have any of the warm and fuzzies for the Saudis.

They are saying that if the Saudis are willing to go along with this, then Hussein can just shut his piehole.

I don’t know. Certainly something the Sa3udis wouldn’t like to talk about in public. There’s a paper in the UK that is known to be used as an outlet for information/misinformation from Israel. I don’t know if this is it because I forgot the name of the paper.

Al Sa3ud would likely agree to Israel doing this if they calculate their regime can survive/escape a bad reaction from their people. They would obviously not like this to be known. The idea that average Sunnis would cheer Israel for taking down Iran is nonsense, & the only people who consider Jews more legit than Shi3a are Bin Ladenites & other extremists who consider Shi3a infidels who are not even people of the book. Average Arab Sunni consider Shi3a to be wrong Muslims, but Muslims still. Jews are considered beneath contempt. Iran’s anti-Israel actions are very popular with most of the Arab public, but not the regimes. Regimes care more about their survival than about destroying Israel (not that they don’t wish for it). The people have different priorities. This is a source of conflict between the regimes & their people & popular culture is full of songs & writings that slam their regimes for not fighting Israel enough. Arabs will consistently name Israel as their biggest threat, not Iran.

Iran is admired for being at the forefront of anti-Israel activities & also for being a thorn in the side of the west but not for any other because Persians are not liked. There will be serious trouble for any regime caught red-handed aiding Israel’s attack on Iran, or even just perceived to be. Maybe not immediately, but definitely it will come out eventually. This is why America is not so enthusiastic about this idea & Israel must do it without expecting praise or even permission.

You have tiny pockets of Sunni Arab supporters spread about among some countries. They represent no one but themselves & have little power or influence especially since it’s not even acceptable to state this in public.

Sa3udi denial coming in. May or may not be true of course. & I checked & this paper is indeed the paper used by Israel for leaks, so true or not, we know that this is something that our government wants known.

http://www.thenational.ae/article/20090706/FOREIGN/707059859/1002

RIYADH // Saudi analysts have rejected media reports that the kingdom has given permission to Israel to use its air space for an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The Sunday Times reported yesterday that the head of Mossad, Israel’s overseas intelligence service, has assured Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, that Saudi Arabia would turn a blind eye to Israeli jets flying over the kingdom during any future raid on Iran’s nuclear sites.

Jamal Khashoggi, an expert on Saudi foreign policy and editor-in-chief of Al Watan newspaper, said the report was false and was another attempt to provoke the country into revealing its plans towards Iran.

Mr Khashoggi said Saudi Arabia was not involved in any bilateral discussion with any countries regarding Iran’s nuclear programme.

“I don’t think that Saudi Arabia is interested in any discussion on a possible military move against Iran with the US, its major ally, let alone its foe,” Mr Khashoggi said, referring to Israel. The Israeli prime minister’s office also denied the report, telling reporters the story “lacks all factual basis”.
