Palin, Cloward, Piven and Kafka
American Thinker ^ | 7/4/2009 | Tom Suhadolnik

Posted on 07/04/2009 11:44:09 AM PDT by Aria

What happened to Sarah Palin is a political game changer on the national level. It also may be a preview of what every American may face in a few years.

The 18 ethics charges filed since she rose to prominence in Republican circles might be the first time the left has successfully used the Cloward-Piven Strategy to stop an individual politician on the national level.

For those who do not know, the strategy was developed in the late 1960s by two sociologists at Columbia. In a nutshell it seeks to "hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse".

It was implemented in NYC where activists on the left lobbied for new social programs then worked to fill the rosters. By the early 1970s there was one person on welfare for every two working in NYC. This nearly resulted in NYC declaring bankruptcy in 1975, averted only by a federal emergency loan.

The left is relentless and merciless. There are some good comments after the article including:

And the public wonders why conservatives tend to stay away from politics. It's an ugly game played by nasty people who know no rules or boundaries.

I'm reminded of the opening lines from The Chronicles of Riddick. To paraphrase...

Usually, evil is confronted by good. Sometimes, evil must be met by a different kind of evil.

I’m wondering Palin’s action is a case of retreat and regroup, or of taking the football and going home.

We’ll see.

I don’t see as how the left won anything .. in fact, this harassment by the left has only propelled her into the spotlight and exposed the left for their mean spirtedness.

‘Getting serious’? Are you serious? ... The democrat party has been run by dead-soul people for so long that the American voters who keep returning these scum to office don’t and cannot discern the deadness in the soul of pols like Waxman, Boxer, Kennedy, Harkin, Reid, Pelosi, Obama, etc. Until Americans stand up to the thuggery of the democrap party and its fifth column enemedia, and openly shame them for their filthiness, ‘serious’ isn’t even on the radar.

if obama found himself complaining about a single tv station with a huge megaphone, wait til Palin along with talk radio really start taking it to him.

He is going to have a bumpy ride

I don’t assume everyone wants to put themselves and their families through the meat grinder of our politics. Hillary and Bill trained Chelsea as a child to understand nasty things would be said - I thought it sounded like child abuse - but they all knew it was coming and obviously they considered their ambition more important than their daughter’s chance at a normal life. Maybe Sarah doesn’t want to go about it that way. Maybe she’ll be a force but as an independent citizen. I think she can do a lot that way.

We’ll see. Personally, if Sarah were my sister I’d probably tell her to enjoy her family and her life. Who needs the misery. That being said, I really wish she’d go for it to save us from the dirty rats.

Yes, I knew that!

And .. now that she is not encumbured by the governorship, she can travel the lower states and gather in great sums of money to relieve her of that debt.

In the meantime, she can show the rest of the country her genuine self .. and let people know who she is .. not the characterization of the left.

Only one more than I did, and I made it to the Ivy League and a graduate degree, and now I make ten times more money than you.

Sarah Palin came from a very humble background. It took her a while, but she earned a college degree by the sweat of her own brow. To me that is far more respectable than a Ted Kennedy skating into and out of Harvard with a C average on the strength of his family name, family money, and the best tutors and exam ringers that money can hire.

I have no patience for people who were able to finish their schooling without interruptions, via affirmative action or family support, but now look down on those who were not so blessed.

How can you reign in frivolous charges like this and punish those who file them, without having a silencing effect on those who would file valid ethics complaints?

The state of Alaska should pay the defense costs for all ethics cases that are dismissed without merit. It's not right that the Governor has a $500,000 legal bill just for trying to serve as governor.

There should be some recourse against those who file false charges maliciously.

In the case of Sarah Palin, political opponents overloaded her with a flood of complaints and consequent legal fees, thus pushing her toward a personal financial crisis and her exit from the public arena. Like NYC she may come back, but the rules of the game have changed.

It was used everywhere. 1960's radio station owners were overloaded with a flood of complaints to the FCC that they were not being fa-a-a-a-a-a-air. Goodbye license.. or (shudder. Ugh!) more Top 40 stations.

"You might also think that they would recall the notorious Fairness Doctrine, which was used to 'harass and intimidate' right-wing radio broadcasts, in the words of one unabashed Kennedy-Johnson operative. When that censorious policy was ended in 1987 by former broadcaster Ronald Reagan, there was an explosion of talk formats that gave voice to popular concerns (for a while, Rush Limbaugh even billed himself as equal time)."

The newly emerging art of confrontation was sometimes called mau-mauing.

I believe Tom Wolfe's book Radical Chic & Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers illustrates those days.

Mau-mauing is still with us, of course. It's about all the Left has.

What the Left won is affirmation of their ability to use the media and the courts to grind down any and all serious conservative challengers financially, emotionally, and physically.

How much time, energy, and treasure do you think you have to manage a family, a state government, speaking engagements, harassment of your family, AND 18 baseless ethics charges in SIX MONTHS!?

I’m astonished she lasted as long as she has.

In my 62 years, I have never, EVER, seen anything like the relentless onslaught rendered against the Palin family, led chiefly by the DemonRAT Left and the Republican RINOs.

I will never forget the RINOs who jumped on the “trash Palin” bandwagon. Such people will NEVER get my support, not in word, nor in dollar. Zer0.

I am so IN AWE of Our Sarah, and even more so after her speech.

The MSM, with all the garbage it has put out in recent years, has tried to pave the way for those who want to destroy America, by inserting truly repulsive behavior into our culture, and surrounding us with so much filth it almost seems normal. They’ve succeeded in getting the destroyers into power in this country, but there’s one problem they haven’t figured out yet...the destroyers are, by nature, sick people. And sick people can do a lot of damage, yes, but they also have lots of weaknesses that can be exploited.
Sarah is healthy, normal, strong, and,as we’ve already seen, she is one tough fighter. She won’t give up. The VP race was a learning experience for her. She’s ready for the fight. Zero and the creeps he’s fronting for better be scared!
And based on the crap we’ve seen in the dinosaur media the last 24 hours, they are really scared...and they also haven’t figured out yet that the modus operandi that has worked so well for them the last 25-30 years isn’t working anymore.

SARAHCUDA 2012!!!!!!!!

My friend, this goes WAY beyond sexist.

It isn’t her gender. It’s her ideology that has them so freaked out.

In order to express their anguish, they use schoolyard taunts like little children.

What the Left is doing to Palin is a perpetual lynching based on what she thinks and what she believes.

This treatment is what everybody who does not express the prevailing “Progressive” worldview will get, from now on, because it works. It worked in Mao’s China, too.
