Maybe She Got Tired of the Full-Court Press (and maybe she got tired of idiots in the press)
washington Post ^ | 7/3/2009 | Howard Kurtz

Posted on 07/03/2009 8:02:42 PM PDT by tobyhill

She survived Katie Couric and Tina Fey, searing scrutiny, rumors about her baby, anonymous taunts of "whack job" from those who once touted her credentials to be a heartbeat away.

Yesterday Sarah Palin completed a remarkable media flameout that made her one of the most famous women in the world, the exotic Alaska caribou hunter, one of the most revered and reviled politicians in modern history. The governor announced she is calling it quits, just eight months after she and John McCain went down to defeat.

She has nursed a grudge against mainstream journalists, accusing them of peddling "gossip and lies" about her family, and at her Wasilla home Palin wouldn't give the press corps the satisfaction of a clear reason for leaving in the middle of her first term and refused to take questions. "Your enemies won't believe you anyway," she said during a rambling discourse that touched on her baby, her prayers, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, her visit to Kosovo and her life as a high-school point guard.

Perhaps it was fitting that Palin bailed days after a hard-edged Vanity Fair piece in which former McCain campaign strategists questioned her mental state and even wondered whether she was suffering from postpartum depression. Still, the red-suited Republican was upbeat yesterday alongside her snowmobiler husband and kids, a contrast to the grim-faced Mark Sanford and John Ensign, who in recent weeks have begged forgiveness for their sexual transgressions.

Kurtz, you empty-headed slime - she gave an extremely clear dissertation on her reasons for early departure. You just refuse to hear it.

They’re so dumb she flew right over their heads. They’re so blind and high on 0bama’s juice they are blind. Good. Use it to our advantage. The other criticism...”She plays by her own rules...again”. Own rules? Who’s rules? The Republican Party’s rules? Who is that party? Last I knew Rush headed the party. Now it’s time they played by her rules. And, for you knuckleheads duped by the, “She’s not the right one” crowd, grow up. She is right and has what it takes.

Ummm..., do they just make these things up out of thin air. I guess they didn’t listen to her announcement and the reasons she gave...

I think having to deal with Obama’s eunuchs in the state run “media” day in and day out just got to be too much of a pain in the @$$ for her. No one should have to go through what Governor Palin and her family had to endure from the bottom feeders in this country. I feel bad that she was treated that way by those she believed were her fellow countrymen. Apparently, we do have two Americas now.

I’d like to see a lib go through 10 percent of the hell Sarah and her family went through every second of everyday. Let’s see a lib get an ethics complaint for taking a piss in her own house, I’m shocked Sarah didn’t get an ethics complaint for doing that. Libs cry and bitch when they are treated like crap but enjoy doing it to others. We have had two Americas for a while now, it’s sad to see this happen to our country

I making a list and checking it twice. Anybody who dis-es Sarah Palin goes on it.

Reports of her demise are grossly exaggerated. She remains a powerful figure in American politics. Republicans will plead for her to campaign for them. Democrats will tremble when she campaigns against them.

After four years of BO and his economy-wreckers, this woman who came out of the best traditions of this country will only look more appealing.

Here's what to say to anyone who cuts Sarah down.

"You know, sir/madam your setiments about Palin are
EXACTLY how I and so many of my friends feel about
Obama, the most unqualified person to ever serve as
our President."

Following the RAT residential model of Hillary Clinton, Al Franken and Terry McAuliffe, Sarah should just pick a state needing decent Senate representation (e.g.,state suffering from Harry Reid, Dick Durban, Mary Landriu for just a start) move there, and set up shop.

"I feel bad that she was treated that way by those she believed were her fellow countrymen."

And many of them were from her own party. You expect denigrating comments from those in the liberal media and the political left, but you don't expect scathing and abusive words from those who are supposed to be your political allies. They all make me sick.

Uh. . I listened to the same "rambling" speech. . .except I didn't get rambling. . .these f'ers have been so inundated with O's actual ramblings that now clarity sounds convoluted to them. . .YOU ARE A LOST LITTLE MAN, KURTZ.

Let me summarize it for you. . .and I've only heard it once:
1. She resigned because it was in the interest of Alaska, in that it was clear to her that the White House would continue to assault her on every front (such as the 12 ethics investigations that led to nowhere but cost the taxpayers of Alaska 2 mill (and her family $500,000)
2. She asked for her family's support on her new endeavor, to which all excitedly said yes with one HELL YEA! Her demeanor was not one of a person who was retreating, but had made a big decision to go forward. .. I believe I could see that in her eyes. This gal is a fighter.

Now for those who are worried that Sarah Palin is not a professional politician. . .don't worry. . what she is - is real. . .and with all those McCain asshats out of the way Just let Sarah be Sarah and she will lead a revolution that will be nothing short of the very salvation of our nation. Our nation was meant to be led by citizens just like Sarah Palin. . .and I do believe, as did the Founders, that there is the hand of Divine Providence that covers this nation!

They have hated her and tried to destroy her since McCain first mentioned her name. Personally, I believe that she did this to get out of the media so that they would have a harder time bashing her for the next 3 years.

They filed complaints on just about everything she did. Now I understand her reluctance to accept invitations to speak at or attend political events. She probably didn't want to have to deal with it anymore, and I can totally understand that. Watch the a-holes file a complaint against her for resigning.

The State run media and their cohorts the Socialist liberal neo-progressives are in for a real big surprise very soon, the American people will not put up with this theft of our great Country much longer!

Pray for the 82nd ABN 1/508th BN who has made a combat jump behind enemy lines in Afghanistan to cut off the fleeing Taliban ladies and put the squeeze play on the Taliban girls!

Thanks America, and remember this “independence day” because it will be your last! History is about to repeat its self with a second American revolution to regain our God given freedoms, inalienable rights and our pursuit of happiness!

I've had it! I have posted this on another thread, but it bears repeating.

This afternoon, right after reading the Huffpo thread, I called the RNC and told them they had been do nothings for several years, that their not taking up for Sarah, indeed, giving her grief, that the VF lies by that Repub. 'hore Steve Schmidt and all the media attacks was IT!

They are to take my name off calling and mailing, because I am donating only to SarahPAC and our own AL Senator Jeff Sessions, who along with our Shelby and Jim DeMint have about the only pairs left in the Senate.

I told the nice lady I am reverting back to my totally conservative independent roots, and that Repub leaders do not seem to have a clue as Obama daily shreds the Constitution.

Then I contributed $50.00 to SarahPAC.

RNC # is 1-800-445-5768 if a few thousand people want to join me. The worker said she would give my comments to michael Steele. No way are they ever going to win nationally without their hated right wing conservative Christians. They need to hear from all of us, and so does Sarah.

The GOP rarely came to her defense even when her family was being attacked. The GOP is going the way of the Whig Party and any half smart Conservative knows it and should be ready to bail on the clowns running the GOP.
Part of why Palin is bailing is because of some asshole from the McCain camp who is hellbent on destroying her.

A Sarah strikes fear in the hearts of GOP politicians as well as the dems.

We have do nothing politicians that cave, that sit and take all the perks, enjoy legislating without reading, enjoy the perk of legislating without having to live under the legislation, who think they are the ruling class. Sarah is not of that make-up.

They know the woman has the conservative roots, and they do not want conservatism. No wonder they fear her.

They do not want her messing with their gravy wagon.

We could "storm the Bastille" in DC, depose the wicked voodoo king and all of his henchmen in Congress, then vote Sarah Palin in as CIC the next day, and some people here would still find something negative to say about it.

It's a sad thing, but there it is.
