I would find it kinda hilarious if Depp became a spokesman for the NRA. I know, quite impossible, but still.
It will be if he tries to do it in england.
With the way our country is going, I think this is a very good idea.
Didn’t he move permanently to France? Or am I thinking of someone else.
He lives in France, they do not have any guns, lots of white flags but no guns..
He is selling his new movie......
Imagine a headline [famous person] wants to teach his kid how to handle socket wrenches.
Just as silly.
anybody know where depp stands politically? the only thing i ever heard was the france thing...but he said it had nothing to do with politics
he is from the south
“and at times, submachine guns”
I tend to doubt that.....
Depp is still a Nancy boy, JMHO.
yah, doesn’t he split his time between England and France?
Well being from the south I would certainly hope so.
parsy, who is well-armed and has plenty of ammo
Definitely scandalous. Watch out, next he may decide to teach them to think for themselves. Oh the horror...
Wait ‘til his kids see him as Dillinger...they’ll really want to learn shootin’! Just saw “Public Enemies” and Depp was great.
“So daddy won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg county
Down by the Green River where Paradise lays...”
IIRC, he lashed out about the "immigrants" being out of control in France and thought of moving back to the U.S. during the Bush years.
He doesn't say much about politics and doesn't come across as a bleeding heart Liberal, but I'm sure he leans farther to the Left than anybody around here does.
He was very good in: Donnie Brasco and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. I would like to see him as the new Jason Bourne./Just Asking - seoul62.......
I sincerely doubt “Johnny Depp” squeezed the trigger on a submachine gun.
Go Johnny!
Depp is a Kentucky boy, so it is no surprise that he wants his own kids to know their way around a gun.
Bravo for Mr. Depp. That is by far the single best way to avoid accidental fatalities and injuries associated with firearms. Kids, once they are mature enough to learn the lessons, need to be taught that firearms are not inherently evil, in spite of what the hand-wringing liberals might think. They need to know that firearms are not toys. Finally, they need to know that firearms are useful tools in all kinds of situations.
My children know the fundamentals of firearm safety, passed on from my grandparents generation to my parents, to me, to my children:
These two basic rules will keep you out of trouble. Of course, the third rule is, if you need a firearm, generally you need it right now. A firearm that is locked up, or unloaded isn't much use then.
this from 2005:
Hollywood star JOHNNY DEPP is so shocked by the riots raging through France, he’s considering abandoning his home in the country.
The FINDING NEVERLAND heart-throb moved to Europe when life in Los Angeles became too violent.
He has since divided time between the two continents - but he fears France will be scarred permanently by the current troubles.
He says, “It’s insane, that setting cars on fire is the new strike.
“I went there (to France) to live because it seemed so simple.
“Now it’s anything but. I don’t know how they’ll recover from this.”
His new Dillinger movie is quite good. Reminded me a lot of the old Cagney gangster movies. Not a lot of talking. Both major characters were men of few words. Great gunfights. It wasn’t top tier of crime dramas (like the Departed), but it was close.
I have not, to this date, disliked a movie with a tommy-gun in it.
SnakeDoc
I am still amazed that that superb actor came from Kentucky. Not that Kentucky people are bad, but he just doesn’t strike me as the good ole country boy.
Johnny Depp - why don’t you then stand up for gun owners???
What?? He’s from KY and has yet to teach his kids to shoot by the age of 3?? Are you sure he’s really a Kentuckian?
A guy like him could afford a couple of Uzis and Mac 10s.

I taught my sons how to handle guns when they were old enough (8 or 9). All good fathers should teach their kids how to handle guns safely and to be able to hit what they aim at.
