A class of fifth graders in California got a shocking crash course on the birds and the bees courtesy of their teacher and an X-rated home video she accidentally included in a DVD of classroom memories.
The error was not caught until after the DVDs were distributed to the students and their families. Parents tell CBS 13 Sacramento that the woman is a good teacher who made an honest but embarrassing mistake.
According to the station, the offending DVD starts with a menu screen that displays various school trips and functions. Click on one of them and "you see kids in a classroom sharing stories. They then start clapping and the video suddenly cuts to sex."

Why anyone in their right mind would make a videotape of themselves having sex is beyond my comprehension. Too many opportunities for snafus like this!

How can that be an "error"? You have to use software to load the school and porn videos into say MovieMaker, to make such a DVD.

I’ve done it myself - not with a sex tape, but I accidentally about fifteen minutes of a football game in the middle of a video recording a play at school, and then transferred the whole sequence to computer without watching it. When I burnt the DVD, I just grabbed the AVI file and stuck it where I wanted it, again without watching.
It can be done.
I certainly don’t want perverts in the teaching profession - but nor should people be hounded out of it because of a genuine error which didn’t involve doing anything intentionally.
Only someone in a powerful Union could survive this, DOH...NEA there you go.

Well this teacher’s life is now ruined & will be branded as a pedophile regardless if it was a mistake because the damage is done & their are strict laws on this conduct.
A student can be expelled for bringing an aspirin to school but a teacher gets the full protection treatment for this? Doesn't matter if it was a mistake, as the supposedly responsible adult trained to work with kids she should bear the full responsibility and be fired immediately. Oh wait I guess first strike rules only apply to the kids(the customers).
Privatise the whole California school system Ahnold, it may even garner you some respect from Conservatives.

Yes, every ‘good’ teacher makes x-rated home videos of herself. And ‘accidentally’ gets them included in with a bunch of dvds she’s making up for the kids.
Why, doesn’t EVERY ‘GOOD’ teacher do this?

Hardly, in the article they already say it’s unlikely she’ll lose her job. It’s a ‘mistake’ not deliberate. Hell even if it was deliberate, do you know all the maze of steps that are required to fire a public school teacher? There are waiting periods, there are rebuttal periods, there are multiple review boards and arbitrators. It can take YEARS to fire them while they are getting paid, if they ever get to a point that they can fire them.
You literally have to kill or rape someone to relatively quickly lose a job. Or be a conservative, that will get you canned once your contract is over. Or bring a gun or some midol to school.

Could have been a mistake, by importing the porn video file into a directory with the school files, then she later mistakenly included it with the disk compilation? I wonder if she created it on school computers. Now, THAT would open another can of worms.

So?....Whatever would happen to a common citizen should happen to this teacher! If the CPS and police would knocking on the door of a common citizen, then it should be knocking on the door of this teacher.

Ought to be able to get off on a technicality.
I’ve started adding arth to the keywords for finding Another Reason to Homeschool threads, but these go back about two years, well before I took over the list. There have to be hundreds by now.
I find it near impossible to believe this was just an accident. Nobody makes a DVD and distributes it without looking at it first to make sure that it copied properly. Even without the sex scene, the DVD could have messed up with some other glitch. There’s just no way of knowing without previewing them first.
Not buying it.
There is no longer any reason to have public schools. One could put all the information necessary for an undergraduate education online and maintain a staff of graders and testing centers for a tenth of what the current system costs. The first state to do it will make buckets of money selling the system to the rest.

The rest I can store in my mind, where the absolute best 3-D video editing and enhancement software also exists to fix any recording errors; where it can't be hacked or accidentally downloaded; and is guaranteed to go to the grave with me, period.
If you want private things kept private, keep it in your own head, and don't tell anyone else unless you plan on killing them immediately afterward.
I don't have a web-cam; nor do we have cell phones, let alone camera phones; and certainly not ‘bedroom cams’.
Public schools should be like public housing, only a last resort.
