Economy’s in the tank, unemployment is up, I cancelled my European vacation this summer, but please Congress, by all means, raise my taxes, take my healthcare and have some fun travelling around the world on my dime.

The only ones who can clean up the mess in Washington are informed and concerned voters.

I for one would be willing to pick up the tab for any Congressman who wanted to take an extended....very extended vacation. It costs less for the American taxpayer than when they're working.

Maybe, if we are lucky, those travel destinations will keep them.

REPEAL the 17th Amendment and reinstate Article 1 Section 3 of the Constitution.

Congress is supposed to be an UNPAID part time Volunteer position.

Maybe the only way to bring the USofA back to its roots is a coup. How else to remove EVERYONE in the Federal Government and replace them according to the US Constitution?

Hundreds of lawmakers traveled overseas in 2008 at a cost of about $13 million. That’s a 50% jump since Democrats took control of Congress two years ago.

Oh good... Someone posted this story. Now I can complain about the Wall Street Journal's inability to properly spell the possessive form of the word "Congress".

A valuable story. One of the best narrarives the GOP had in 1994 was the House check-bouncing scandal. It was successful because it was easily relatable to voters.

Hopefully this one will have the same kind of resonance.

Ok that’s about enough of that crap.

Congress is a National Body confined to the the US, the President (barf) is the representative overseas.

Nancy can just park her fat ass in San Fran. Damn, she actually makes Cindy Sheehan look like a better alternative.

Hundreds of lawmakers traveled overseas in 2008 at a cost of about $13 million. That's a 50% jump since Democrats took control of Congress two years ago. The cost of so-called congressional delegations, known among lawmakers as "codels," has risen nearly 70% since 2005, when an influence-peddling scandal led to a ban on travel funded by lobbyists, according to the data.

Seems to be a recession for everyone but Congress. If they get low on funds they just raise taxes, print more money and let our children and grand children pay. Gives a new meaning to pay it forward.

All of our travel costs have gone up a lot! It is amazing how they are nickle and dimming us to death in the airlines. The hotels, rental cars and other travel destinations are going through the roof too. It is a shame that people can't vacation anymore without taking a second mortgage out to help pay for it (last sentence exaggerated but you get my point).

The present U.S. Congress is a disgrace. We should spend the Fourth of July mourning the state of that institution.

Everybody elese in the USA cuts back and Congress goes on a binge....

Its way past time to hold these idiots accountable. Shameful Democrats won’t hold their own to account. Only Conservatives hold Republicans accountable and then we get a worse and worse government.

The GOP is nowhere near as bad and the Dems. Nowhere near! Now we have a deficit close $2 TRILLION, unemployment hitting 10%, taxes way up, an energy bill that is a monstrosity, a national healthcare looming on the horizon, the Unions/government in charge of the auto industry. OMG!

This has probably done much to invigorate the foreign tourist industry, but this is the choice of the American people, and under our flawed system, they are always right even when they are wrong.
