To summarize baseball legend Reggie Jackson: nobody boos a nobody. That is definitely true in the case of Governor Sarah Palin. I dont think I am going out on a limb here when I speculate that individuals who repeatedly attack her anonymously view her as a threat. And that includes members of the media hell-bent tearing down young Republican up-and-comers as well as some in Governor Palins own party a party desperately in need of redefining who are motivated, for whatever reason, to try and crush their rivals.
The most recent and grossly unfair attack came from Vanity Fair magazine. The writer clearly had an unshakable point of view from the start and talked only to those who would criticize. For example, he personally asked me at event preceding the White House Correspondents Dinner if I would talk to him about Governor Palin. I agreed. He didnt call. He didnt email. He never once tried to get my take. I also know he never contacted campaign manager Rick Davis, or John McCain.
I have known many political leaders over four decades including all Republican presidents and VPs. I have come to know Sarah Palin over the past year and can state unequivocally that she is smart, curious, hard working, charming, and effective. She also has something her detractors clearly lack a sense of honor and loyalty.
I know this is petty, but it reminds me of the 2004 presidential election where it was commonplace and accepted in much of the mainstream media to call President Bush stupid and Senator Kerry smart and insightful. At the end of the day, when Senator Kerry finally released his college transcripts, wouldnt you know: he did quite a bit worse than President Bush.
I have seen Sarah up close with leading heavyweights, and have seen her hold her own and then some. At the dinner at my home referenced in the article, she engaged comfortably and deeply with people ranging from Alan Greenspan to Madeleine Albright to Mitch McConnell. She asked for a foreign policy discussion on her June 7 trip to Washington, and I saw her engage in an informed and spirited manner with Frank Carlucci.
Governor Palin has many admirers and defenders out there who will not allow her to be branded by jealous rivals with their own agenda and the elitists in the national media. I am not sure who the unnamed Vanity Fair sources are, but without question they lack chivalry and have acted in a craven manner. They also lack the facts. I am ashamed of my former campaign colleagues, whoever they are.
They should ask Steve Schmidt to get to the bottom of the leak.
Who does this Palin woman think she is? Running for president and everything....what gall! She must think she lives in America or something.
FYI to the keepers of the Palin ping lists
Wherever the Yankees go, A-Rod always gets the loudest boos.
That’s a heck of an endorsement. Happy that he sees from up close what I see from a great distance.
Reggie was a man. A-Rod is...You will in the blank.
Glad someone is sticking up for her. She’s still our best candidate and deserves the kind of commentary he is giving.
Thank you Fred Malek.
Why don’t you have a little chat with Fox’s Charles Krauthammer? I have always respected his opinion, but he keeps saying publicly that “Sarah should be boning up on foreign policy and she isn’t doing it.”
Evidently, Mr. K. is wrong about that.
Hmmm. Wonder who that might be? Which "brand" do you prefer?

Sarah should be boning up on foreign policy and she isnt doing it.
#####
Once again, the HUGE double-standard applied to Sarah Palin.
I wish Chuck would name, by his condescending standards, who exactly would qualify as competent on foregn policy.
It bears repeating. :-)
Exactly right. Speaking of foreign policy blunders, I'm sure that Sarah would have gotten North Korea, Iran, and Honduras exactly right without any additional "boning up". And wasn't 0bama's inexperience in this area "made up" by his greatly experienced and gaffe-free VP? And how about this from campaign 2008: The Top 10 Foreign Policy Gaffes From The Campaign Trail.
In the 1980s, Reggie Jackson owned at least one car dealership in the (SF) Bay area. A local newpaper reporter was sent to do a puff piece on him. During the interview he complained about people not treating him with respect.
It seems that customers kept wanting to call him "Reggie", but he thought that he should be addressed as "Mr. Jackson", since he was a big shot car dealer. When he left, the reporter turned to look at the sign, and noted that it was "Reggie Jackson Chevrolet", not "Mr. Jackson Chevrolet".
The basis of American foreign policy should be
AMERICA’S INTERESTS FIRST.
I think Sarah has that down, unlike anyone else currently in power.
So, who does that leave...?
*
Ive met Sarah on several occasions, shes smart, make no mistake.. but she is also down to earth....something a lib will never understand.
A-Rod also gets the snarky comments and snide innuendo. Just like Palin!
I lived a couple of blocks from Reggie Jackson Chevrolet, which was in Berkeley. The dealership eventually went broke, and was then burned to the ground, destroying several very valuable antique cars.
It turned out to be a lucky break for Jackson, who was well covered by insurance.
He had one in Palo Alto, when I lived in Sunnyvale. I thought there was more than one.
A-Rod, like a lot of young players, gets paid more than he is worth to his teams. I know it is the market, and I know that Ted Williams thought he was living in hog-heaven when he signed a contract for $125,000 (about $1 Million today), still, he is no Williams. To be fair, many of the old ball-players did things that make Rodriquez look like a choir boy. And they got real razzing not just a few snide remarks.

Palin PING!
Anyone on or off the Palin ping, write me.
I LOVE the title of this article!!!!
Maybe Fred needs to have a conversation with Charles Krauthammer, he is clearly unaware that Sarah has indeed been doing her homework... I think Krauthammer unwaivering support for Romney is coloring his view of Palin... which is sad since I like Krauthammer.
What makes Romney more proficient in this manner than Palin is what I want to know, he was a one-term and not all that successful, governor.. he was a successful businessman — that doesn’t make a foreign policy expert.
If it's true that the source of these smears against her is from within the GOP, he's sending a clear message that it needs to stop. He is the biggest rainmaker in the Republican party. This guy has been raising money for Republicans since the Nixon era.
As I said on another thread, people like Krauthammer don't like the simple talk. He probably wouldn't have appreciated a Republican from a few decades ago who was asked about his theory of the Cold War and who replied, "My theory is that we win and they lose."
That guy did alright and so will Sarah. As Malek revealed in this blog, she's active behind the scenes on issues like foreign policy.
I hope Krauthammer comes around, his voice carries a lot of respect in what he says - right or wrong. Wish Sarah would sit and talk with him for a while, remember Bill Kristol met her when he went up to Alaska for a cruise and literally fell for her on the spot, which is why he kept talking her up as VP. Krauthammer likely would, too, if he’d sit down and talk to her. There is someone on Redstate “achance” who claims to be in Alaska Politics and really dislikes her, takes every opportunity to take potshots on any thread about here there, he worked with Murkowski and I think this is a vendetta because she took out the old boys in Alaska, rest assured there will be more like this guy come out.
How well has that worked for Mark Sanford?
jla, spreading the truth
parsy, watching the Dirty Dozen and Twilight Zone.
parsy, who says he didn’t get clobbered at all on the last thread.
That is what I figured, he is pretty transparent and very rude.
Many RNC operatives don’t even want Palin to be a Presidential candidate in the primaries. They fear Palin’s presence will make the whole primary process into a media sideshow. They think a primary battle between Romney and Palin will degrade into a religious debate on the merits of Mormonism and make the GOP look like a country club for white evangelicals. Thus making Obama look like the grown up. Therefore, Palin must be blocked and allow Romney to show to public that the GOP is not for Southern Baptists only.
I think I've inadvertently crossed that cosmic plane into an alternate universe again. LOL.
Amen MrB. My viewpoint exactly.
john Zeigler really took Mike Allen to task yesterday over his comments on Morning Joe, when Zeigler asked him for specifics to back up his comments he didn’t have any; is it possible he realized he looked like a real jerk and his credibility suffered from this?
I heard Ziegler really humiliated Mike Allen, so you’re probably right.
If you missed it, I highly recommend you go to conservatives4palin and listen to it...It’s in a thread from yesterday along with a great Tammy Bruce tape.

“He is the biggest rainmaker in the Republican party. “
Exactly right.
The anonymous “Republican” campaign staff will be revealed to Malek and his peers, and will find employment prospects pretty dismal in the future.
Anyone who genuinely cares about America- it's that dam simple. Anyone who puts America first (and any other democracy with free and fair elections) right next to her, again, real dam simple.
What these monkfarts are doing is deflecting attention from the least qualified foreign policy gasbag to inhabit the office of President- Barry of Kenya.
See, he doesn't really like America. That's why he stinks. His wifey sho' don't like America. That's why she stinks as First Lady.
Many people love Chavez, but for the wrong reasons> he's a dictator, but, he loves Venezuela too (because he get's to be the dictator). These people are guilty of falling in love with an a-hole. Nothing more. A lot of people are guilty of this.
Get to know any of those who proudly display O'ballsless' bumper stickers and you'll likely discover they too, are married to an a-hole. Or, their kids are a-holes. Probably the extended family, too. What will unite them all is a belief that America ain't that great.
And whose fault it that? Why, American government, that's who. They messed with the blueprint and now the foundation is shakey. Enter a radical marxist- stage Left. Couldn't have happened in 'real' America, but we don't live there anymore.
that's just a canard-trap
the media gave not a shite what the fearless community organizer knew about diddly, just that he was part negro and could read a teleprompter cleanly and articulately.
Palin can speak well without a teleprompter, she's hot as all get out and true blue patriot and culture warrior but alas she will have to work on the negro part
anyhow...like Loaf says sorta...3 outta 4 ain't bad
Major bump. Finally, some honorable people from the McCain team are hitting back at the bottom-feeders.
