Time for an Israeli Strike
The Washington Post ^ | July 2nd, 2009 | John Bolton

Posted on 07/02/2009 8:01:07 AM PDT by garyhope

With Iran's hard-line mullahs and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps unmistakably back in control, Israel's decision of whether to use military force against Tehran's nuclear weapons program is more urgent than ever.

This Story Time for an Israeli Strike? End the Spat With Israel In Morocco, an Alternative to Iran Iran's nuclear threat was never in doubt during its presidential campaign, but the post-election resistance raised the possibility of some sort of regime change. That prospect seems lost for the near future or for at least as long as it will take Iran to finalize a deliverable nuclear weapons capability.

Will Israel, America and the rest of the world wake up to the danger of an insane Islamofascist Iran with nukes and finally have the guts to do something about it before it's too late?

Not with I’m-A-Nut-Job and UhBamUh being allies and all.
Prayers up for our Israeli friends.

Actually, now is the worst time for Israel to strike. They should’ve done it already. Striking now is a no-no, and here’s why:

1. The attack will unite the hardliners, who will claim their fierce rhetoric and threats are now necessary against the “evil” Israel (it’ll give the regime a good excuse to keep Nutjob as the president)

2. It will give the regime an excuse for emergency rule/martial law

3. It will distract people from protesting and trying to bring down the government, and may even earn Ahmadinejad a few more supporters

4. It could drive the nuclear program underground. When Israel bombed Iraq’s reactor at Osirak, Saddam didn’t stop with his program, he just continued in secret. We would never have known about it had he not invaded Kuwait and caused us to go over and investigate. The US was shocked to find how far along the Iraqis were in their nuclear program. Had Saddam waited a few extra months to invade Kuwait, he could’ve done it with a nuke.

5. Rafsanjani is currently in the process of trying to force Khamenei out of power and prevent Ahmadinejad from re-assuming office. He is at odds with Mujtaba Khamenei, the supreme leader’s son, who wants to be the next supreme ruler. The clerical establishment is starting to splinter, and even some mullahs are protesting in the streets. An attack by Israel would instantly unite them again. Rafsanjani would be distracted from trying to give Khamenei the boot, and the mullahs would unite against Israel instead of focusing their anger at each other.

If a country is divided and unstable, the last thing you want to do is attack it and unite everyone against the attacker. Just let it fall under its own weight.

A well placed Mossad bullet here and there might be more potent than a squadron of aircraft.

Unfortunately this regime is brutal and will settle scores and kill a lot of people to maintain power. It won’t fall of its own weight. It is a bad time..but the timing will only get worse. Everyday the centrifuges turn out more enriched uranium. They are closer every day.

The moment to act was during Iran’s unrest.

America and the rest of the world? Nope, not a chance.
Israel? Maybe with BiBi in charge as opposed to the appeasing p.o.s. lawyer Olmert.

Bolton is certainly a guy who gets it, but I have to admit to being floored that the Washington Post is where this commentary was published.

There's something in the water folks.  Yesterday the Wicked Witch of the West of the White House press core, Helen Thomas gave the White House spokeshole a very hard time.  Then Juan Williams gave another leftist political hack the same treatement.  Now the Washington Post is publishing a commentary that outs Obama for the hopelessly lost individual he is.

Dare I ask it?  Has the left realized what a terrible mistake they have made?  Based on one 24 hour period filled with anomolies, I doubt it.  I'm still wondering WTH is going on here.

The following is directed to all Freepers in general.

Some Freepers see everything through a red, white, and blue filter.  Lets prove right now how many of us do.  3% of the Freepathon total has been reached.

Do the deed.  Click those smiling faces right now.  Spread the word...

Please vist the Freepathon thread and ham it up with folks over there.  Posting on the thread gets it more attention, and we can end this Freepathon sooner.

I can’t believe Olmert lasted more than ten minutes after the most recent conflict in Southern Lebanon. Talk about a buffoon...

I think Olmert was a “Carter Class” ass hat.

There have probably been very few world leaders in history as stupid as the person we have in there now. First of all, in most of history he would have had his head lopped off long before he got close to the throne.

It’s only in recent times that populations could be dumbed down enough and become complacent enough to place a person like Zero in a position of authority.

It’s hard to grasp the enormity of the tragic mistakes voters made in 2008, from January to November. It certainly doesn’t bode well.

So for that reason and that reason only, I give Olmert some credit. I don’t believe he was the psycho fascist dictator that Zero has become. And with Congress unwilling to object or stand up to Obama, that’s essentially what he is.

I too was amazed that the WAPOO published it also.

I have no faith that the left has realized it’s mistake. I don’t think that they’d ever admit it.

Barack is still the magic negro to them.

Diehard left, yes you’re right. Independents and more reasoned Democrats, I think you’ll see some of them scampering away from Obama as if they’d never supported him in the first place.

2010 will be the big test. I suspect we get back Congress, unless the Republican absolutely go berserk.
