HICAGO Visitors to the Sears Tower's new glass balconies all seem to agree: The first step is the hardest.
"It's like walking on ice," said Margaret Kemp, of Bishop, California, who said her heart was still pounding even after stepping away from the balcony. "That first step you take 'am I going down?'"

Glass floors would make it better.

Ok. Now I am nauseous.
My hands and feet are tingling with fear just thinking about this.
Read the article.
I went to GhostBar (Palms) in Vegas months ago and they have the same thing. A LOT of people were at the entrance before they enter the ledge which shows you the phobia for heights is common. Only 10 persons were at the ledge drinking heavily. My guess is that 5 were acting cool and needed the liquor to give em some courage..
Never.
The first time a 500lb fatso falls down with a hard metalic object in his hand, or falls on his pocket full of ball bearings...oh mercy...
I could not step out on that thing.
I have a headache thinking about that.
I just happen to catch news of this on ABC news tonight. The anchor (can’t think of his name), couldn’t understand why this was done!
>>My hands and feet are tingling with fear just thinking about this.<<
I almost fainted (I have terrible acrophobia)
I love heights, but I’d feel better having a net under that thing.
Damn. Even that's hard to watch!!!
Here’s a link to a slideshow of it. These kids are WAY braver than I am.

Probably not a concern — bulletproof glass of that thickness would have a tensile strength equivalent to steel.
The only danger is 100% psychological. But my heart attack would be very real if someone shoved me out onto that.
I can’t do the Ghost Bar, either. I prefer my bars to be close to the ground (doesn’t hurt as much when I fall down and pass out :-) )
Yes, and it's funny how kids are so fearless.
tensile strength of steel eh? I don’t think so. btw, thickness has no bearing on tensile strength whatsoever.
I guess I’m not the only one skeeved out about high places.
Funny thing is...about a year ago I had a nightmare eerily similar to this thing. I dreamt I was on a covered glass walkway between two skyscrapers, hundreds of feet up and exactly at the midway point of the walkway. I was too frightened to move either way (as I would be in real life). It was easily one of the most terrifying dreams I’ve ever had - woke up bathed in sweat and couldn’t fall asleep the rest of the night.
Um, the floors are glass.
But it’s a good ice-breaker when picking up boozed-up chicks. I guess at the GhostBar, it’s the ONLY conversation piece.
LOL! I LOVE IT!
All I could think of was “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”...didn’t they go up there and put their heads against the glass?
sheesh sorry, I only looked at the one pic and didnt see that.
I took a helicopter lesson last week for an hour...no doors on the dinky thing. I didn’t even think until I put the helicopter in a bank, looked out at the ground to my right and suddenly thought “Hm. Is my seatbelt REALLY buckled securely???”
Made me think real hard for a second...
“I see Paris, I see France...”
Great minds, and all that; I was thinking the same thing.
Hehe...I think what made me think of it immediately was the guy in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off who looked DOWN and thought he saw his dad...:)
So, when I saw THAT picture...
I got nauseous just over that. No way would I do that at the Sears tower.
After viewing those slides, all I can say is...
No way in hell!
Not.
Enough.
Money.
In.
The.
World.
Too bad there isn’t much to look at.
I’m ok with heights as well - a bit hesitant, but get over it very quickly. I’m ok with falling too.
I have major phobia issues with impact though .... luckily I’ve found a way to avoid all but the smallest ones by avoiding the first two as much as possible.
Oh, if the muzzies get busy again people will have a good view of the airplanes coming in.

I bungee jumped once out of a hot air balloon, but as far as parachuting, they don’t make an airplane big enough to hold all the people it would take to throw me out.
.

I laid on one of the 45 degree supports pictured above and took a picture straight down. I think I was trying to impress a girl.
Weee!
That's the Infinity room. I swaggered out on that thing and cowered back after the damn thing started swaying. It is a tad unnerving.
OH *!!! my absolute worst nightmare.

that would be fun, not quite wide enough though.
I had a ride on a RC135 while I was in the air force. I laid beside the boom operator. We were at 13,000 feet laying down on a piece of glass.

Sounds like fun! Invite me along the next time you go!
;-)
It was cool especially when the c130 came up to get refueled.
