A congressman from the Philadelphia suburbs will challenge U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in the Democratic Senate primary.
In an interview with The Wayne Independent Wednesday morning, U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak, D-Pa.,confirmed his intention to run against Specter, a long-time Republican who switched to the Democratic party earlier this year.
I am going to get into the race against Arlen Specter ... for senator, said Sestak in his first media interview as part of a three-week tour through all of the Commonwealths 67 counties.
Wayne County was his first stop where he met with local Democrats prior to his interview with The Wayne Independent.

Sestak appears to be a hero of the insanocrat left, as evidenced by the sheer joy of this announcement on KOS.
Poetic Justice appears to be at work, here.

Yeah, but Sestak is a scumbag, too. He stole his seat with dirty politics.

I am going out on a “Contrarian Limb” here, but I think we actually WANT Spector to WIN in a bloody primary! We know he’s the least palatible to the Democratic Party Base, but Obama counts on him to be an important “Aye” vote (Establisment support), but Toomey would be more likely to WIN against Spector becuase of the “stay at home effect” of the RATs rather than against Sestak.

What’s better for Toomey? Sestak or Specter as the DemocRAT nominee?
To: JSDude1
I suspect that if Specter loses the primary, he will “pull a Lieberman” and change to an independent party and run in the General Election. A three-way election could get very interesting.

Whoo hoo but let’s hope he doesn’t win. We just want him to bloody Specter. Because if Specter wins the liberal activists will revolt. They don’t like him at all.

Sestak is a scumbag, too. He stole his seat with dirty politics. So that will make it all the more pain-full for Sphincter when he loses.
Maybe he can claim Rat election irregularities.

Toomey would have a shot against Specter. He’d get killed against Sestak.
Sestak is a big lib, but masquerades it well with his Navy background.

I agree completely. I strongly recommend that PA conservatives cross over and vote for Spectre (as long as Twoomey looks solid to get the GOP nod).
To: So Cal Rocket
I’m not sure Pennsylvania law allows that - I think that was the basis for him switching parties (fear of losing to Toomey and not being able to run).

PA does not allow that. If you run in a primary and lose, you may not then get on the ballot as an independent. You're done.
Best outcome is for Specter to have to spend his war chest against Sestak, barely win, and then lose to Toomey.

Don't get me wrong. Spincter deserves it.
But this is a lose-lose situation for us.
No disrespect to your service in the Navy (thanks, by the way), but what I've heard is that Sestak was pretty much hated by his men because he had politics as his goal every day he served.

An Insane Lefty defeated a mushy Centrist for the presidency and the majority of people still support him after openly acting like an Insane Lefty.
The more Marxist the better.

Polls show Toomey doing better against Sestak than Specter.

I think that by 2010, the people of Pennsylvania (as well as the rest of the nation) will have it up to their eyebrows of a 1-party run government.....of a country and economy that have been run into the ground.
That will really benefit Toomey.

You can’t discount the ACORN/vote fraud factor, although I think that Specter will be viewed as the traitor he is, and that decreases his trustworthiness on the Dem side. Maybe a Specter Primary win would be helpful...
