Palin's 'demons' [McCainiacs attack Palin again; Barf alert]
The Washington Times ^ | 2009-07-01 | Jon Ward

Posted on 07/01/2009 9:10:31 AM PDT by rabscuttle385

(snip)

But I asked one of the senior McCain campaign officials who worked closest with Palin what he thought of the article, by e-mail last night and then this morning over the phone. He e-mailed back immediately, calling the article "absolutely fascinating" and "completely riveting."

"While the Palin camp is surely marshaling the torches and pitchforks and baying for blood by now, my hope is that somehow — against the odds -- Palin is able to draw some sort of lesson out of all of this that helps her find a way to exist peacefully in the public space. It can’t be easy to spend every day under this kind of withering fire and I know that it is brutal on her family, who are generally good people that never asked for this," the political operative wrote.

"You’d think that at some point, even Palin’s formidable armor of self-deception would so loudly clang against reality that she’d be forced to change. I doubt that though. Introspection doesn’t seem to be her strong-suit. But people can change. I hope she can too...for her sake and for our party’s."

When I spoke by phone this morning with the same official, he said the VF article was not "contrived" and that it did in fact give an accurate portrayal of Palin.

"It's more sad for me because I think she is a great political talent and could have a future or some sort of role but she has these demons that she can't shake and I think its' unfortunate she has this ability to disconnect herself from reality when things go wrong and she has this total lack of introspection," he said.

Sounds like a set-up from the the Romney cult-group memebers, who tried to shoot down Palin even before the election took place. And of course, since McManiac himself was only trying to “throw us a bone” in picking Palin, didn’t like it that he was upstaged by her conservative credentials, making him look like a sorry loser that he was... LOL..

So, the cult-member Romney and McManiac can both disappear into the wilderness and get lost... :-)

With each new vicious attack against Palin, I grow more angry with McCain.

A true ‘Office and Gentleman’ would have put a stop to this LAST NOVEMBER from among his campaign staff.

But as we’ve seen via Baby (Meghan) McCain, its obvious that Senator McCain is in fact supporting this grotesque series of ongoing attacks.

The more they pound on her, the better I like her. I don’t think there is anyone else out there right now that can equal her. Her opponents know this and they have got to destroy her or there is no chance for them. Hang in there Sarah. We need you.

The Washington Times is posting rot like this?

I would like to see Sarah Palin totally ignore this crap and when she is asked about it, as all of the “news” media will, simply say “You see now what kind of people they are” and nothing more.

For now it is there for all to see.

I think she is a great political talent and could have a future or some sort of role but she has these demons that she can't shake

This is the hallmark "damning praise" criticism from these McCain staffers. I can recognize it now, if it was a dem they'd simply insult her mental capacity.

In the first real presidential campaign America had Thomas Jefferson vs. John Adams. In the last campaign we had John McCain vs. Barak Obama. That pretty much disproves the concept of progress, doesn’t it?

The REAL disconnect was/is between McCain, his staffers and conservatives in the real world. They simply do not know what to make of a conservative Christian family woman/man with mid America views.

You said — Some people sure are obsessed with Romney, aren’t they. They bring him up in so many threads, like they have a man-crush on him or something.

Well, the people who are obsessed with him running for President basically need to *leave* Free Republic, I would say... :-)

It would pay for people to be aware of Jim Robinson’s view on Romney. While I have views on Romney based in him belonging to a non-Christian cult group (i.e., Mormonism...), Jim Robinson has views based upon what he says below...

Unlike Romney’s “National Council for a New America,” Free Republic is a conservative site!

If there is anyone here who doesn’t understand why we cannot support a slick socialist politician like Mitt Romney, God help you, but you’re on the wrong website. We went through this with the abortionist, gay rights activist, illegal alien supporting, gun grabbing Rudy Giuliani until someone created another website call WAnkers for Rudy and they all flew the coop. Hopefully, before too much FReeper blood is shed, someone will create a WAnkers for Romney site and we can be left to fight the good fight as we see fit!

FR is not for everyone!

And it’s like another poster said — Romney is a RINO bastard.

The Washington Times is posting rot like this?

I agree. I hope Jon Ward’s days there are limited. It is obvious that he only wants to talk with anonymous “senior McCain campaign officials” rather than ones who have gone record like Jason Recher, who was interviewed by Ward’s colleague at the Times, Amanda Carpenter:

Jason Recher, who worked closely with Mrs. Palin as a vice presidential candidate, said “The mean tone of this article is completely false, this is not the Sarah Palin I knew and spent two and a half months with." He also said he was tired of reporters using information about Mrs. Palin from people unwilling to go on the record.

Hey Times Editors, more Carpenter; no more Ward.

You are being ridiculous.
None of this is anything new.
There have ALWAYS been internal struggles in the Party.
If you want EVERYONE to agree with you, all the time, the size of your Party will not require a space any larger than your average basement, in which to meet!

“self deception” ???

the reason Sarah Palin was so received by the conservatives is because ... of how she sees things, and speaks of taking on ‘the good ole boys’, reforms, drilling in Alaska, creating a pipeline to the US across Canada, and in truth being a CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN.. etc.

I KNOW ... A CONSERVATIVE IS A OXYMORON AT THIS TIME.

God help us if we turn away from Sarah Palin.

We may be beyond turning this madness around. IE, destruction of America values, and way of life, socialism, bankrupting America, destroying our monies value, etc.,.

Nope, McCain will NOT run again.
McCain would set himself up as more of an attack dog, against Obama, if that were the case.

McCain is primarily worried about his “legacy” IMHO, and McCain, and his supporters, do not want to admit that Sarah is a MUCH better candidate than he could ever be!

Why can't McCain simply take pride in the fact that HE introduced the world to Sarah?

What parent is embarrassed about the positive attention a child receives?

You know, when the election ended, I had high regard for Gov. Palin, but was hesitant to “commit” to supporting her in 2012 until I saw both what she would do next, as well as see who else in the GOP would rise up. (Sanford (heh), Jindal, Barbour, etc.)

All these incessant attacks - and seeing how Gov. Palin handles them - keeps drawing me into the Sarah camp. She isn’t perfect (in particular, she should cut her unspecific griping about the attacks in half, lest she become whiney), but when she’s on, she’s ON.

By the way, what evidence is there that Romney is involved, and not the usual Democrat propaganda?

McCain's campaign picked up a lot of Romney staffers after Romney fell in the primaries. There's no sure way to tell here, but IMHO, Romney's operatives and sycophants are sniping from the political darkness at anyone who either gets in his way (or displays the potential to do so) for a 2012 run against Obama. Unfortunately, they scored a massive hit on Sanford (unfortunately, Sanford basically gave them all the ammunition that they needed), and now it's only Palin who poses the biggest visible threat to a Romney candidacy. In other words, the pro-Romney faction is attempting a hostile takeover of the GOP.
