I think that statement is the bottom line and his lousy campaign personnel are looking for someone to blame. If they admitted they threw the election, they would look like the jerks they are and it would confirm—McCain doesn’t hold firm conservative values. He was a war hero and God Bless him for his service but he has never held to firm conservative values (McCain -Finegold)

McCain never wanted to win.

McCain was the candidate with the least chance of winning the election. Repubs basically threw in the towel by nominating him.
