Predictably irrational responses from the usual Internet riffraff.
Those braying, brave bloggers -- brave, that is, as long as they're hiding behind the anonymity of the Internet -- would have us believe that those groups and others are responsible for the alleged sexual assault of a 5-year-old boy by the Duke University administrator who adopted him and is accused of trying to pimp him out so that others could abuse him.
Frank Lombard, associate director of Duke's Center for Health Policy, has been charged with the crime against nature, against decency, and most important, against a child. If guilty, he alone is responsible for what he did, unless it turns out that someone was derelict in approving his adoption request and overlooked red flags showing Lombard shouldn't be allowed within 72.5 miles of an unchaperoned child.
Unencumbered by either facts or sympathy, some mouth-breathers -- seemingly vying with Lombard in the degeneracy sweepstakes -- blame the news media for not focusing on the fact that the adopted child is black.
Doing so, in their diseased, hate-filled minds, might fracture some supposed media-backed political coalition between blacks and gays. (It's unlikely gays in California would agree that any such coalition exists, since some feel that blacks helped defeat the gay marriage bill there.)
But hey, what are facts when you've got a political agenda to push, stereotypes to reinforce?
For any normal person, could the allegations against Lombard be any more heinous regardless of the child's race?
One of our reporters on the story said it never entered his mind to mention the child's race. The story wasn't about race, he said, but about a child.
Paul Colford of The Associated Press in New York, responding to criticism I relayed to him that the news service omitted the child's race, said, "We've only had one story. ... Without reading anybody's mind, I can only speculate that the issue of the child's race could very easily have come down to privacy issues."
Neither of those explanations, although common-sensical, is likely to appease the black-helicopter crowd that sees a liberal conspiracy behind every event. A black caller posited the unprovable theory that Lombard adopted and abused a black child precisely because the child was black and thus, he knew, no one would care.
They all ought to be ashamed, but of course they won't be.
"Please, please, please," one person wrote on the N&O's Web site, let the accused administrator be a member of President Obama's inner circle.
Oy. On Sunday, my cousin told me of taking his 5-year-old daughter to one of those McDonald's Playlands filled with plastic balls of all colors. It was also filled, he said, with children of all colors and ethnicities.
He marveled that the race of their newfound playmates was the last thing on their minds.
It's unfortunate that by the time they're old enough to crawl behind a computer keyboard, race may be the only thing on their minds. That's especially true if their parents are the type who view the race -- no, make that the withholding of the race -- of a 5-year-old possible rape victim as more important than the crime itself.
Frank Lombard stated to the cops that he chose an African American boy for adoption saying they were "easier to adopt than white" children. He adopted two boys. How does a gay man adopt two little black boys boys and abuse them for years in a close knit leftist commune that prides itself with communal dinners and being environmentally friendly? I think this is a serious race issue if as it seems that minority children are finding themselves being adopted in greater numbers by homosexuals men. Why are any homosexual men adopting these children. The media and Barry can work to cloud this issue all they want but the truth is coming out and you can bet that had Frank Lombard been a straight administrator at Jerry Fawell's Liberty University and he had adopted two african american kids and was found to have molested them and he was the Deacon of a tradition Baptist church you and living in an conservative commune you can be certain that the AP and the whole media in spite of their fetish with the freak Michael Jackson would find a way to squeeze it in.

If any male wants to adopt a young child, great caution should be used.
No it doesn’t in that respect but it does matter when african american kids are being targeted for adoption by homosexuals because it is “easier”. Also the commune itself itemized the number of “people of color (all children)” at 11%. The leftist community made it about race. Frank Lombard made it about race. I don’t believe gay men should ever adopt children period but let us take this opportunity to have this debate or is the media’s stand on homosexuality one of speak no evil, hear not evil, and see no evil? It is a danger to allow any group to go without question. Even African American males aren’t afforded the kind of indifference to there race that homosexuals who pride themselves on telling everyone that that are proud to be gay are afforded when they are catch in such situations.
It is a disgrace. No one should be above question and no group should be protected from public scrutiny.

While I agree with your conclusion, the fact that he targeted black children by race because he could more easily obtain them for the purpose of harming them just digs another pit of utter reprehensible disgrace -- racial contempt -- to his crimes against humanity here, if it is even possible to plumb the depth of this sickening perversion of fatherhood and justice.
And second, this is yet another indictment of the hypocritical media, who would jump all over the race issue if the perv were a white straight man and the child were a black female; or worse, if the perv were any kind of a priest or pastor. Hello, my FRiend. Google is also your friend -- I just put in "Martin Luther King+Republican" and a whole list came up.
When it is on their terms they want to ask all the questions and find debate healing and necessary but they don’t even want an open gay male to be an open gay male. When he is doing something they think lifts up homosexuality oh my then he is a proud gay man with two african american boys but let him be a child molester and suddenly he only owns a house with another man. What is it with the eerie silence with these folks? The church he went to is silent, his commune has removed any information suggesting they were ever advertising themselves as gay friendly. Duke University has not released any condemnation only a very terse statement even though the charges are not questionable in this case. The silence is just amazing. I mean could you ever see this kind of thing going investigated if this commune was a bunch of Mormons from Eldorado Texas? Has anyone checked out the remaining kids to see if Frank abused them? Isn’t that standard protocol in these cases? They is a clear effort to make Frank Lombard disappear and absolutely not acknowledge is is a gay man who admits to targeting african american kids for molestation because as he put it it was “easier”. The guy was a church leader. The double standard is damning and the African American community is being betrayed by benevolent white liberals who don’t see any problem having little black kids being raised to be homosexual. Pure BS cover story. The firestorm in the New Media was about the utter lack of coverage of a homosexual rape of an adopted child. Even when the story finally was covered by the LSM (lame/left/lib stream media), the homosexuality of the adoptoive parents wasn’t. The race issue - never once raised in the New Media - is a complete strawman...

A hooker “supposedly” gets raped by some jocks, and you hear about it endlessly. A little boy's life is destroyed by some pervert disguising himself as an AIDS researcher, and you hear crickets!
I was victimized as a child, and believe me, you are NEVER the same. I feel for that little boy. I will pray that God is there for him through the many, many tribulations that he will face during the REST of his life. I still struggle with my demons daily! I was hurt by somebody very close to me as well. Somebody I should have been able to trust too. When you are violated by someone like that, it is even harder to heal.
This is the way it is in the media in general. This kind of thing involving open homosexuals is not uncommon but the news can’t even find the capability to use the word gay in conjunction with the gay man and a leftist gay friendly eco friendly commune who was so close knit that they didn’t even notice any think strange going on and still refuse any access to the media. What is the deal? What are they afraid of? Could you imagine a Mormon commune getting a pass like this? Well they didn’t.
I think we all know the answer to that. Well I’m not giving up on this. Last night I emailed the media in 4 states and Washington D.C. and today I will send it out to even more. There is a real invasion of the body snatchers feel to this. There is a reason that the media doesn’t want us debating or asking the big questions related to this story and that is because much like global warming the facade of the sexual revolution and politically correct adoption by homosexuals is at stake. Just last month a ring of Pedophiles including dozens of open homosexuals and run by a Gay Youth Executive from Scotland with connections extending to the USA and linked to Operation Shattered Innocence was broken up. The press are shielding the public from the horrid truth so that the sexual activist agenda can be implemented. There is great denial and even tactic approval of the idolization of relationships with under aged males in the homosexual community and the media doesn’t do a thing about it. Also there is the core issue of whether homosexuals should be able to foster parent or adopt at all due to sexual identity issues related to the child involved. Should unfortunate children be placed in a situation where they are specifically without a mother or father and are raised whether intentional or not to be gay?
The interesting part is how websites at which Lombard's information had appeared have been scrubbed to remove those references. Just imagine if Lombard had been a Catholic priest and the Diocese in which he resided had removed all references to him in order to hide the fact of his affiliation. The MS would be all over it like white on rice! They seem totally incurious about Lombard, and one can only assume it's because he is homosexual.
If race is an issue in any so-called hate crime then it is definitely an issue here. By his own admission Lombard targeted the black community, preying on its children because they were supposedly easier to adopt and abuse without notice. Isn’t this the dynamic for what a hate crime is?
