See post 5. There appears to be a conflict here. I would guess, myself, that Dr. Paul is correct.

Wow, Ron Paul is a genius and the only true Constitutionalist! Let the herald angels sing!

Oh, wait, let’s see here:

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-47

Hmmm. Sen. Ensign introduced the bill. As of 4-18-09 it had nine sponsors. Ron Paul wasn’t one. He is now, so of course let’s blare the trumpets.

Yes, he is right, as he often is. But . . . he didn’t introduce it. And wasn’t even in the top ten. Is the “only true Constitutionalist” a leader or a follower?

Well, DUH. That is the SENATE bill. No wonder Dr. Paul isn’t a sponsor there. He is a CONGRESSMAN... The HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES... You know, the other side of the Hill...

Yep, that was stupid of me and I probably owe Rep. Paul and others an apology for speaking from ignorance. Going back to see who originated the house bill. My underlying point about his leadership may or may not remain. My own idiocy in this instance definitely remains. Sorry.

You realize, I'm sure, that a Congressman's office staff -- if they're even half-way competent -- routinely send out releases to all the local media proclaiming the good things their boss is doing for his or her constituents. Ron Paul's staff is no different from the other 434 in that respect.

What the local paper does with it after they read it is entirely up to them. It would seem likely that the interview with the 77-year-old Flo Richards was something the paper thought up as a way to give substance to a non-story.

You and I know this bill is not going anywhere. I suspect Rep. Paul feels the same way. Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to have a whole slew of sponsors for legislation that would roll back the fedgov, if even a little. Eventually, perhaps in our children's lifetime, this country will return to the free country our grandparents enjoyed living in.
