Bloomberg: Schools Won't Close For Muslim Holidays ALBANY (CBS) ―
Mayor Michael Bloomberg says New York City's schools can't close for Muslim holidays.
The City Council is considering a nonbinding resolution on Tuesday asking the Education Department to observe Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
The city has the nation's largest school system. A 2008 study by Columbia University's Teachers College estimates at least 10 percent of its 1.1 million students are Muslim.
Eid, which means "festivity", al-Fitr, "to break fast," marks the end of Ramadan.
Eid al-Adha celebrates the willingness of Ibrahim -- known as Abraham to Christians and Jews -- to sacrifice his son. It is the most important Islamic holiday.

Just give every student 2 religious holidays. Christians get Christmas and Easter. Jews get that holiday that I can’t spell and Passover. Muslims get whatever they get. No, I don’t know what days they are and I don’t care.
A year ago, I had a consultant job in the Fashion District and my boss were Iranian Jews (that’s “persian” in L.A.) and every Jewish holiday the business would close..with the employees getting paid for it.
That sounds like BS to me...but if/when 10% of the TEACHERS are Muslim, they'll get the union to make sure they get as many paid holidays as us Jews...
Moslems need a couple days off to commit “honor killings” and murder their family members.
One day to plan the ambush/murder, the second day to execute the plan.

It’s like sneaking around, then surprising your children with Easter baskets or Christmas presents first thing in the morning.
Except moslems sneak around, but surprise their sons/daughters with long knives thru the neck for tarnishing the family “honor.”
The only good moslem is a moslem that’s too far away to bother you.

How about the government get out of the education business, and this, like any other school/religion the issue goes away.
rESPONSE: Yet.
There are (relative to mankind) good people who happen to be Muslim. Granted many of the doctrines of Islam are just plain evil (such as attacking and dominating infidels) but not every Muslim (thank the REAL God) follows them.
It takes courage to leave that blood cult. Where it is properly followed they are obliged to kill you when you do that! Those of us who grew up outside of the shadow of Sharia should count ourselves blessed, and perhaps have a little more sympathy for our fellow man who is enslaved.
