Sarah Palin trashed by members of John McCain's campaign team in Vanity Fair [not again]

Alaska's lipstick-wearing pit-bull is a "Little Shop of Horrors."

That's how one longtime friend and campaign trail companion of John McCain, the vanquished 2008 GOP presidential nominee, described veep nominee Sarah Palin.

In an expansive story in the August edition of Vanity Fair, a slew of senior members of McCain's campaign team told reporter Todd S. Purdum that they suffer a kind of survivor's guilt following the 2008 presidential election.

They can’t help themselves.

She’s a pro-life conservative, she’s an unashamed Christian, she’s smart, she’s beautiful, she’s lived the pioneer life, she’s worked her way to the governorship of her very significant state with her charisma and intelligence.

Basically, she’s everything that the urban, effete Lefitst and RINO shills AREN’T. And they hate her for it.

More power too her.

Is this the same bunch of losers who couldn’t get an American Vietnam veteran the win over a bunch of punk, Marxist “community organizers” from Chicago? I’m surprised that they’d even show their faces in public let alone do a magazine interview for a leftist rag.

I’m not voting for McCain this year. I voted for myself instead of him in 2004...figured I would be a much better conservative than him.

Wonder how the old geezer explains the fact that Palin was the only flicker of life in his campaign, however short-lived it may have been. They blame her for not being able to drag his dead weight across the line at the last minute. Can we send McCain back to the ‘Cong?

Todd S. Purdum that they suffer a kind of survivor's guilt following the 2008 presidential election.

They should be feeling guilty. Guess they are grousing that they can't get hired by any conservative campaigns or get invited to any of the "cool" Washington parties. What a bunch of whiners.

“I can think of no reason why this woman should subject herself to another national campaign.”

###

Maybe because she refuses to let the propagandizing, leftist QueerMedia dictate who the candidates should be.

Perhaps she also feels that decision should not be entrusted to cowardly, career-politican RINOS and pretend-conservatives, who even take their poor play-acting to appear here on FR.

I think this is great. Keep printing this crap. Now, when Sarah writes her book, she won’t have to walk on eggshells when it comes to discussing the McCain team. She can be brutally honest about what happened during the campaign. I, for one, can’t wait to read about it. The McCan folks will need a diaper change by the time she’s done with them.

No one should forget that Todd S. Purdum is married to Dee Dee Meyers. So, everything he writes is crap to me.

Second, McCain's advisers also hold the distinction of running one of the worst presidential campaigns in the last 50 years, and certainly since Dukakis. They were beyond inept, incapable and horrible. None of them will work on a national campaign in a paid capacity again.(except perhaps for Democrats).

They know that they're toast. As they say, it's a poor craftsman that blames their tools. And to political operatives and hired guns like these buffoons, the candidate is their tool. Their mismanagement and under utilization of Palin, as well as McCain bailout break will be the stuff of political science books in the years to come - it will be the stuff of things to avoid repeating.

From reading the article, I get the sense that Palin felt all along that the McCain people were nothing more than a bunch of liars and incompetents.

She won 2 elections in Alaska, and from what I saw on the campaign trail, had more “balls” than the entire McCain staff, and more brains than both campaigns combined.

Tucker Eskew

2005 - Tucker Eskew joins US Newswire advisory board

Eskew was brought on board the McCain campaign to "help Palin prepare for her Wednesday night acceptance speech at the GOP convention and for her stump speech as she hits the road, brief her on policy matters, and help her handle the media scrutiny a lifetime in Alaska does not necessarily prepare one for."

All Vanity Fair has to do is to search youtube to see that yes, in fact, other vice-presidential candidates (going back to Mondull in 80 and Ferraro in 84), made concession speeches. Yet they make Palin out to be an attention hog in wanting to thank her supports (probably twice that of MaCain).

You lost because John McCain is a weak candidate and almost indiscernable from Obama.

Palin was the only thing that excited conservatives—you know, your BASE. The people that actually vote for you, instead of just calling you wise and great because you are more liberal than other Republicans.

is there a Pub who can challenge him?......

all this confirms to me that McCain played the Dole role in 2008....be a graceful loser....he choose Palin I guess just to do something different....he ran to loose....

because you know, at one point they were ahead in the polls....gaining steam....Palin was knocking them dead all across the country...McCain started to say stupid things...like trying not to be too mean to bama.....then the "collapse" that is looking more and more to me like a planned event...

planned because the bama was not very concerned...like he knew it was coming....

McCain...thank you for your service but you are an arrogant little pr*ck and deserve to retire to shady brook farm...and take your dtr with you....jerk....

“I bet not one of them had the guts to put their name behind the remarks they gave to Todd Purdum (Dee Dee Myers husband) either!!!”

I get so very sick of journalistic. Not that you can ever completely get rid of it. But you can make a dent in it by refusing to publish quotes, paraphrases, and implications by people who refuse to give their names. Follow up on their information, sure. Only you have to do the work. Don’t capitalize on it unless you find substance by yourself.

That would prevent broadsides like “sources say,” “word on the hill is,” “according to some,” “we have it on reliable word,” etc. Without such phrases, articles might end up reading like wildly arbitrary speculation, but that’s fine. That’s what they are already.

Of course, journalists would never accept it. They thrive on “scoops”. Gotta get the “dirt”. Can’t risk losing the story due to tight lips. Have to make it as easy as possible for people to “dish”. Basically, they’re lazy.

You know . . .I have to wonder how the *bleep* did McCain ever win the Repub nomination. He certainly was not my choice, and he doesn't seem to be the choice of most Freepers.

Who's in charge of the Repub party, us normal people, or some big-wigs in a backroom somewhere? I myself was initially for Fred Thompson, and I still think he'd make a good Prez (better than either candidate the Repubs or the Demos selected!). A Thompson/Palin ticket sounds good to me. I may be in the minority, but be that as it may, Reagan lost the nomination in 1976 because most Repubs can't see very far into the future (something they share with the Demos, unfortunately).

Ah, well. Sometimes the nation needs an idiot (like Carter or BO) to show us how stupid we can be sometimes.

My brother was very active for years in the RNC, working in the very top levels of local and national campaigns. When the first "anonymous" stories came out post-election slamming Palin, he told me he knew exactly where they had to have come from. He said McCain had some people running his campaign whom he had worked with before and knew them to be arrogant idiots. He said he expected them to screw up and then try to find someone else to blame it on, and that was exactly what they did with Sarah Palin. After completely botching her introduction to America, they were now using the bad image they'd let the media concoct of her as ammo for smearing her and blaming her for their own proven incompetence.

So here we go again. If they didn't blame Palin for their screw-ups, who'd be dumb enough to hire them to run another campaign? Other than McCain, that is?

Unfortunately, headline blurbs and and mini-soundbites are the most convincing articles for the vast majority of the populace. I am astounded daily by supposedly educated people who absorb CNN and AP title bars, and are totally convinced that they are fully informed.

The downfall of this nation is that so very few people can bother themselves to examine or discuss ideas and concepts.

Simple people talk about people.
Mediocre people talk about events.
Superior people talk about ideas.
Welcome to Idiocracy.
