McCain Still ‘In the Arena’ [Newsmax basically endorses McCain in 2010] [barf]
Newsmax ^ | 2009-06-28 | Christopher Ruddy

Posted on 06/28/2009 7:37:52 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

John McCain is back — and he's in a fighting mood!

The Arizona senator looked even younger and fitter than during his recent presidential campaign when I caught him last week on C-SPAN.

I admire people who show character in defeat. A prominent 19th-Century pundit once said "the greatest test of courage on earth is to bear defeat without losing heart." For sure, John McCain has not lost heart at all.

Though McCain was defeated last November, I believe he did a good job with his campaign under extremely difficult circumstances.

In September, the McCain-Palin ticket was narrowly ahead in the polls. Then the roof caved in. The Bush administration announced that the entire U.S. and global economy was on the verge of collapsing. Bush requested a $1 trillion blank check to bail out the banks. McCain's campaign was doomed.

Still, the former POW remained true to strong Republican values and ran a classy campaign. Despite carrying George W. Bush’s political baggage and unpopularity, McCain did better than expected — Barack Obama won 52.9 percent of the vote rather than the landslide numbers many had predicted.

Since his election loss, McCain could have quietly sat back and enjoyed the limelight as a senator and major presidential contender. Instead, has been “in the arena” as Theodore Roosevelt called it, at the forefront of those Republicans in Congress holding President Obama accountable on a variety of issues.

Too bad you weren’t in a fighting mood a year ago when it might have done U.S. some good. Go home and let the men handle it from here.

I loathe McCain. I was sick when I donated and voted for him. The Dems made sure he was “our” candidate and McCain was set up to lose.

He needs to be beaten in the AZ primary.

Good grief, you’ve got to be kidding me! Imagine how old McCain is going to look by then. Imagine how much worse his public speaking will be by then. I know, you might think, how can it get worse? But it can. That would be a sure-fired way to achieve the lowest Republican turnout yet.

Ya right. No spine and no balls.

Despite carrying George W. Bush’s political baggage and unpopularity, McCain did better than expected...

Only because Palin saved McCain's ass from being skewered.

Goodnight, Newsmax.

And don't forget to turn out the lights.

"I admire people who show character in defeat."

So what's significant here?

I think that is pretty characteristic of Democrats in general: They love Republican losers.

It's effective Conservatives they hate.

My frikkin mailman would been more of a adversary aginst this unAmerican marxist than maclame. The one ad he ran that made sense, “By his mighty hand” was run for a very short time. They could have run a lot on that image alone, but NO, he had to be civil and all that crap. HEY YOU STOOOPID REPUBS, the dims play for keeps and want to have absolute control. You all will be just as fornicated as the rest of us unless you grow a set and take these people on. WAKE UP!!!

No good would have come out of a McCain Administration. Sure, it's even worse now that 0 is in, but the lesser of 2 evils is still evil. Our nation was screwed regardless of which major Party had won.

McCain's reason for being is to back-stab conservatives. He is so full of himself that he needs the adulation of the liberals and the liberal press to keep his BS tank topped up. His pathetic behavior easily out trumps his former POW status. The looming amnesty fight will once again prove that he is an enemy of anyone who believes in freedom and our constitution.

Gullible fool.

McCain didn’t have the will to win.

Nor did he have the SKILL to win.

Picking Sarah Palin was a master stroke. Pretty much everything with his half-hearted pandering loser “campaign” was downhill after that.

You have properly identified McShame. A great POW, a hopelessly outclassed candidate— should make a terrific elementary school student council contest runner-up.
I had two brief encounters two decades ago with the man—both brightly illuminated his contempt for the ordinary citizen in the political arena and bloated view of himself.
I seek the man no ill, just wish he would retire and keep his coniviving ways and disgust with the Palin crowd to the Arizona shuffleboard court.

So what? She would only be VP, which has a minimal constitutional role, basically when the need to break a tie in the Senate exists. Juan McCain picked her only as window dressing for conservatives.

I have gotten flamed before for calling McCain a creep. He needs to retire. His service in the military was outstanding but his ‘service” in the senate has been a travesty. He stabs concervatives in the back all the time. He is almost as bad as Arlen Specter.

I agree 100%. There was not a dimes worth of difference between the osama obama and mccrazy. The difference is that if mccrazy would have won the Republicans would have had to take the blame. This way the dimwits will.

We're a lil testy today, aren't we?

So you seem to think that the reason for voting for President is who they choose as their VP, correct? That's what it sounds like.

So the Presidential candidate may be a total prick (which he was / still is)...but hey, the VP is pretty cool! ROTFLMAO!!!
