US diplomats are working to ensure the safety of deposed Honduran President Manuel Zelaya and his family as they press for restoration of constitutional law and his presidency.
President Barack Obama called Sunday for "all political and social actors in Honduras to respect democratic norms, the rule of law and the tenets of the Inter-American Democratic Charter" as the Central American crisis unfolded.
For those conditions to be met, Zelaya must be returned to power, US officials said

The former President attempted to change the Honduran Constitution to allow himself to run for another term. He wanted to do this via a referendum, even though the Honduran Constitution may not be amended via referendum. He was overruled at every level, yet persisted. Therefore he was arrested and deposed. Yet Obama argues that the rule of law requires the return of this Chavezian thug to office, even though said thug was violating the rule of law.
Suppose George W Bush declared a few years ago that he was going to change the Constitution via a referendum so he could run again. Do you think the mainstream media would be spinning the story the way they’re spinning the Honduras story?
Ignore the Honduras Supreme Court, The Military, etc., etc.

The Honduran Supreme Court said that Zelaya was doing an illegal run around the Constitution and then the Honduran CONGRESS took a vote and kicked Zelaya out. This is the way the democracy is supposed to work...
Apparently there are three branches of power in the government to PREVENT the kind of crap Zelaya was trying to pull... and it worked...

But the former Honduran prez was another one of Chavez’ buds, and all Bambi needed to hear was that Chavez was unhappy about it and he rushed right up to support his dear fellow dictator Chavez.
I can’t believe we’re doing this. Well, “we” aren’t; but that we have a US president doing this is shameful. I long for the day when Obama gets impeached - as he will, or perhaps he’ll simply be removed when it turns out that he was ineligible in the first place.

Of course Obama finds nothing wrong with what Zelaya tried to do...in Obama’s mind, Zelaya was doing what he felt was best, so his nation’s constitution be damned. Who needs those pieces of paper getting in the way when there’s social justice that needs dispensing?
Just ask Sonia Sotomayor; I’ll bet she tells you that the U.S. Constitution is a “living document” and can be followed or ignored by an elected official depending on their feeeelings on a particular issue.
