Just as it was in 1775, that IS THE tripwire.

Most sane Americans recognize that once the state has all the serious guns, it’s over anyway.

As Jimmy Malone declared in “The Untouchables,” “What the hell. Ya gotta die of somethin’.”

Indeed.

Mr. Jefferson thought so:

An astute student of history and human nature, Thomas Jefferson, predicted what we see happening here in America. As ambassador in France, he witnessed the run up to the FIRST socialist/communist revolution there. He penned the following observations concerning what would happen HERE should that socialism come to the United States. He CORRECTLY predicted that we would become an increasingly contentious and litigious people as we shouldered one another out of the way to get OURS from the public trough and the trough would soon be empty.

He also knew where the bulk of the problem would originate.

That whirring noise you may hear coming from that mountain in Charlottesville, Virginia is Mr. Jefferson getting up to around 3600 RPM.

(A 6 minute video with this information may be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypLu49pq3bI)

As I understand it, at the time of the drafting of the Declaration, Mr. Jefferson originally wrote “…Life, Liberty and PROPERTY…” (meaning that one’s right to freely acquire, use and dispose of his property – to the extent doing so did not violate the same to others – was a Creator endowed right. Because slavery viewed humans as property, the phrase “Pursuit of Happiness” was adopted instead to avoid – at least for the time being — the inevitable debate on that subject.

“The mobs of the great cities add just so much to the support of pure government as sores do to the strength of the human body. It is the manners and spirit of a people which preserve a republic in vigor. A degeneracy in these is a canker which soon eats to the heart of its laws and constitution.” —Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia Q.XIX, 1782. ME 2:230

“I think our governments will remain virtuous for many centuries as long as they are chiefly agricultural; and this will be as long as there shall be vacant lands in any part of America. When they get piled upon one another in large cities as in Europe, they will become corrupt as in Europe.” —Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1787. Papers 12:442

“I view great cities as pestilential to the morals, the health and the liberties of man. True, they nourish some of the elegant arts; but the useful ones can thrive elsewhere; and less perfection in the others, with more health, virtue and freedom, would be my choice.” —Thomas Jefferson to Benjamin Rush, 1800. ME 10:173

“Our cities... exhibit specimens of London only; our country is a different nation.” —Thomas Jefferson to Andre de Daschkoff, 1809. ME 12:304

“Everyone, by his property or by his satisfactory situation, is interested in the support of law and order. And such men may safely and advantageously reserve to themselves a wholesome control over their public affairs and a degree of freedom which, in the hands of the canaille of the cities of Europe, would be instantly perverted to the demolition and destruction of everything public and private.” —Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, 1813. ME 13:401

“An insurrection... of science, talents, and courage, against rank and birth... has failed in its first effort, because the mobs of the cities, the instrument used for its accomplishment, debased by ignorance, poverty, and vice, could not be restrained to rational action. But the world will recover from the panic of this first catastrophe.” —Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, 1813. ME 13:402

“I fear nothing for our liberty from the assaults of force; but I have seen and felt much, and fear more from English books, English prejudices, English manners, and the apes, the dupes, and designs among our professional crafts. When I look around me for security against these seductions, I find it in the wide spread of our agricultural citizens, in their unsophisticated minds, their independence and their power, if called on, to crush the Humists of our cities, and to maintain the principles which severed us from England.” —Thomas Jefferson to Horatio G. Spafford, 1814. ME 14:120

Your #35 is well said, although it seems at least the current Congress will not directly agree to confiscate arms.
Of course, there is always the danger the Congress may not read the legislation that actually does so.
It will likely be attempted by Exec Order/marital law, for whatever worth it will be.
There is also good reason to believe most local LEO’s will turn in their badges before it gets messy.

The speed of their offensive is breathtaking.

Same sentiments of Pravda:

"It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American
descent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against
the back drop of a passive*, hapless sheeple*…. The final collapse has
come with the election of Barack Obama
…”
~ Pravda, May 2009

Thank you for Jefferson’s words.

I keep focused on:
“Governments exist by consent of the governed; but if the governed are denied the right of self-defense those in power may exist in whatever form they choose.”

In October 1917, Lenin and his Bolsheviks took control of Russia from Kerensky and his Social Democrats -- who had overthrown the Czar earlier that year -- entirely through parliamentary maneuvering in Russia's fledgling Duma.

Yes and as I recall bolshevik means majority (bigger). Lenin did not have the majority he chose the word on purpose; his group should have been called the mensheviks (smaller). Words matter as all of us have seen today.

Nice segue to ..

Yes, of course I realize it's explosive to keep bringing up the Nazis and the Bolsheviks in an essay about the Democrats. I'm not doing this to be incendiary; I'm doing this to be accurate.

The Rat Party (formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party) leaders and stalwarts are the 1960s Marxist-Alinsky street rabble and the ideological issue of same.

It's what Clinton, Obama, et al are. Period.

What was the movie with Mel Gibson where he pointed to the helicopter as their “new” horses? “We Were Soldiers”?

Now, it just might be the SUV or a pick-’em-up truck.

Yee Haw! Ride ‘em cowboy!

Heh - Maybe that’s why Cap-n-Trade is supposed to go into effect in 2012... to undermine the revolt when elections are ‘suspended’

I submit a very high percentage of the Armed Services will honor their oaths and that an even higher percentage of officers will honor their oaths.

"I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."

I agree - our military will follow the oath. So long as the usurper's orders are lawful, it won't be a problem. However, if there is an attempted coup by the druggie in our White House, he'll need quite a bit of non-military firepower on his side to stand against those who gave their word to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic".

"Do you think that is likely to happen during your lifetime?"

No.

But then again, I never thought I would live to see America ruled by a naked Marxist either. So I suppose we should allow for surprises on the upside too.

The vision of American Liberty is a very compelling vision for those who understand it. Sadly, not very many people understand it.

Yes, a major impetus towards socialist thought and it's unquestioning acceptance comes from the educational establishment, and it's “teaching” of these things.

Schools today bear absolutely no resemblance to those of 40, 30, even 15-20 years ago.

Subjects taught bring no bearing at all to real life today (except as drone workers for the New World Order), and most assuredly off up nothing to today's youth in terms of history, especially as it relates to America's founding and the importance of it's related documents.

At some point in time, many of today's youngsters are going to realize that, education-wise, they've been sold a bill of goods. The question is, will that realization come soon enough?

CA....

Oh, you’ll be paying tax on those too.

No, you don't understand. Any agency that attempts to tax or take my guns will be paying. Dearly. And very personally.

That day, like today, will be a good day to die.

The MSM has not reported this but Newt spoke of it on the radio this past week as has some local papers. Tim Bishop is a Democrat/Liberal Congressman from the 1st Cong. District on Long Island. A couple of weeks ago he held a town hall meeting which was attended by a cuple of hundred citizens. These people were vociferous against Bishop and his liberal voting record ie, stimulus, raising taxes and basically a puppet of Pelosi. Suffolk County Police were called and Bishop had to be escorted out of the meeting. He has since indicated he is canceling his July town hall meetings until further notice.
