Sometimes Cornyn gets it right, but probably the most damning thing about Cornyn is his endorsement of McCain during the primary, Feb. 2008.
“I, like most of you, am deeply concerned with wasteful and excessive Washington spending, and I have also worked side by side with John McCain taking on special interests and fighting the tough battles on behalf of the American taxpayer. While it is true that we have had some principled disagreements on some issues, including certain areas of immigration reform, John McCain is a man of principle and conviction. He shares my deep commitment to reaching a comprehensive solution to immigration reform and I look forward to working with him on this issue when he is President.
With the recent decision by a number of the other candidates to step aside, now is the time for the Republican Party to come together and stand behind Senator McCain. For these reasons, I am honored to endorse him for President of the United States today and will do whatever I can to support his candidacy.
