Los Angeles police released security video today that captures unruly celebrants of the Lakers NBA finals victory helping themselves to merchandise at a Shell gas station convenience store blocks from the Staples Center.
The footage, shot June 14 by a security camera at the rear of the store in the 600 block of West Olympic Boulevard, shows a group of about two dozen men swarming the store and helping themselves primarily to juice, soda and energy drinks in a large cooler.
The mob shouted, Free soda, free soda as they grabbed merchandise in a two-minute rush in which they also smashed bottles on the floor, trampled bananas, knocked over display racks and broke a window. A YouTube video shows dozens of people assembled outside the gas station.

How and when did we become Detroit?
You would think we had gotten refugees from NOLA 10 years ago or so. In the West and Magic days we had class.
No more.
That's a new one.
I hate to say this but the looters appear to be primarily Amish and Mennonites.
These are good patriotic Obama voters. They’re just transferring the wealth to it’s rightful owners.
“unruly celebrants”
thugs, punks, criminals . . . too harsh??? “unruly celebrants”?
“You would think we had gotten refugees from NOLA 10 years ago or so. In the West and Magic days we had class.”
The Rodney King riots were in 1992...
No Methodists...they go after cash registers...
A textbook Obama-organized community project.
I know it will be considered racist by the race-mongers, but just compare the celebrants with the teams and look at the L.A. basketball win celebration compared to the Penguins hockey win celebration . . . . .
Are we still a great country?
>The Rodney King riots were in 1992...
"Can't we all just get a foot-long?"
Excuse me..........did you forget the Rodney King riots?
The Watts riots?
freakin’ TCBE savages. they all belong in a cage of some sort.
That long ago? I remember driving home on the 110/101/405 and seeing all the smoke and stuff.
I guess you are right. The black community has grabbed every chance to just be open thugs since then, since they saw they got away with it and continue to do so.
>>Excuse me..........did you forget the Rodney King riots?
The Watts riots?<<
Which Laker win prompted those?
Remember 1968.
I was trying to figure that one out myself! speaking of the GREAT Jerry West, I have not followed the nba since he retired.
The authorities should present the Lakers franchise with the entire bill for damages, and furnish them with the surveillance tape so that they can pursue their “fans” for damages pursuant to civil law.
That way the good ratepayers of Los Angeles won’t be stuck paying for the foolishness and damage caused by the “fans” of professional sports franchises, and the professional sports franchises will be incentivized, as good corporate citizens, to curb, monitor and contain the enthusiasm of their hooligan “fans” — or pass along the costs of their damages where they most logically belong: onto ticket prices and licensed products.
They could declare basketball a hazardous nuisance and make the team post $100 million bond. It’s probably not legal, but it sounds fun.
"Yeah this is what i would expect from some Laker fans. These punks have no reguard for anyones property. As a black man myself i try and tell the black youth that thier actions keep the sterotype alive and well. I guess we will have to keep the black eye "pardon the pun" a little longer."
One of the unfortunate side effects of such behavior is that it perpetuates a stereotype and hurts the law-abiding blacks who wouldn't dream of doing such a thing.
Another unfortunate side effect is that this will eventually kill off small businesses (providing much-needed goods and services with a paper-thin profit margin and high overhead costs) in the neighborhood.
Some people in the projects/ghetto neighborhoods here in Oakland wonder why they have to travel miles to get to a decent grocery store.
Are you kidding me? Have you been to downtown past Pico Blvd, especially at night?
>>Have you been to downtown past Pico Blvd, especially at night?<<
I’m white and still alive. What do you think?
Did the New Orleans Looter Guy go to LA for the Lakers celebration?
Thug ball at it’s finest....
I think requiring some sort of ‘riot insurance’ isn’t unreasonable.
> I think requiring some sort of riot insurance isnt unreasonable.
Without it, one could easily foresee cities declining consent applications for professional sports franchises on the basis of likely civil unrest and riot damage. In short, treating the teams as potential criminal nuisances. On that basis it might be difficult to get approvals for stadiums to be built.
As you suggest, riot insurance would be a good option. If I were a city councilor I’d vote in favor of requiring it.
Scum slime..not only did they steal some had to damage and trash the store too. WHoever gets caught should get their own possessions confiscated to help pay the damages. All moron losers of the nth degree.
Oh I see. Only certain excuses for rioting are accpetable.
So sororoy.
In fairness, a certain segment of the black community has done so. The shame is that the decent and law abiding members of the community (other thyan Cosby, Williams, Sowell, etc.) are generally silent about it.
I guess being called Tom is too hurtful.
Post anything like that again and you are out of here.
