President Barack Obama said on Tuesday he firmly believed that a government-run health insurance plan "made sense" in a broader overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system, and that private insurers should find ways to compete for clients.

So it makes sense to hand our health care over to the same people who run FEMA, the IRS and the US Postal Service makes sense? Yeah Right!

“and that private insurers should find ways to compete for clients.”

Oh, but what Obummer isn’t saying is that the government won’t allow the private insurers to compete; they’ll all be forced out of business by Uncle Sam!

So government can use taxpayer funds to subsidize what is sure to be a grossly inefficient system of “insurance” while private companies must find a way to “compete.” And somehow this “makes sense.”

He must think we are all on mind-altering drugs, not just his staunch supporters.

My state’s government REQUIRES me to buy car insurance.

So why don’t they run car insurance?

Also, we get hit by natural disasters (as does California, Louisiana, Florida...), by not gov’t-run homeowner/renter’s insurance?

Private insurers will most certainly still have the bulk of clients.

But then Obama will simply ban them, and nobody will say a word.

Why is there no competition for Medicare?

Whenever the left cannot show the rationale for something, they claim “it makes sense”. It is tiresome.

Government run anything makes sense?

Doubt it in spades!!!

Better option... get government, insurance, and all those rail folks out of the health care industrial complex. Doctors compete for real priced services, and the research labs STOP looking for new treatments, and START LOOKING FOR MORE CURES!

Turn the profession into a way to cure folks instead of stringing folks along with the winds of “medical opinion” regarding treatment and what they can do to “prevent” disease.

infuriating!

Sorry to have yelled.....bg must be high.

So, explain to me exactly how a private insurer is supposed to “compete” with an entity that:

* is not accountable to investors,

* is directly funded by a government that can and does rob the citizens at gunpoint,

* never even has to turn a profit.

Compete? Yeah, right.

Every time you see an Obama voter, remember, you are looking into the eyes of a person who sold you into fascist slavery with their vote.

Medicare IS federal health insurance. There are roughly one million rules and benefits schedules which strongly influence how care-providers behave. It’s a mess.

Obama is fond of telling how his mother worried about her private health care coverage when she had her final illness. Here's a news flash: She was 53. If her son's plan had been in effect, she probably would have had coverage, but at age 53 little or no advanced medical care would have been available to her. Not cost effective.

Exactly. And have you ever called Medicare to get something straightened out? Nightmare. Worse or about the same as calling for computer assistance from India.
